My American Idol Boys

Listen, there only on thing you need to know about tonight’s American Idol. My boys were ON FIRE!!! Yes, my two favorite guys rocked the house tonight. Chris Daughtry brought it with his rendition of Wanted Dead or Alive, and Taylor Hicks was amazing singing Elton John’s Leave On.

Vote for Chris: 1-866-IDOLS-06
Vote for Taylor: 1-866-IDOLS-12

I personally thought these guys were by far the best two performances tonight. The judges agreed too. Simon actually said for the first time that Taylor Hicks really deserved to be in the top 12 men. Finally!!!

The other guys worthy of my vote (although they’re not getting it) are Elliott Yemin, who Simon described as perhaps the best male vocalist in the history of the show (um, he’s no Clay Aiken), and dreamy Ace Young.

So after week one performances, I am sticking with the my Top 5 picks from last week. And they are:

I’m sure Idol Chatter will have the full breakdown later tonight or tomorrow.

American Idol’s Becky O’Donohue in Maxim

Becky O’Donohue, a top 24 finalist on American Idol has some experience in front of the camera. Becky and her twin sister Jessie posed in Maxim Magazine last year for an article about “fantasty” baseball or something like that.

It seems Becky and her sister are all about the spotlight. After appearing in Maxim and before American Idol, the twins tried their luck on Fear Factor. Someone looking for a little attention?

This news falls into the category of “if you are F-ing with me, you are going down”!

BetterThanFudge.com is reporting that Showtime has picked up Arrested Development for 12 brand new epsiodes. The details are a bit sketchy, but BTF says that it is true, and the news comes directly from a lead actor on the show. He commented that this is NOT something he overheard or got from another website .

I need something…a press release, a soundbyte from Richie Cunningham…something!!!

P.S. I’m not sure I’m going to believe any of this until I hear it from Kristin Veitch.

Finally!!! Rainn Wilson aka Diwght Schrute (Assitant Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin, Scranton Branch) has just launched an official MySpace page. There are imposters out there but this is really him. Pam/Jenna said so…so there!

God how I love the cast of The Office. They are just too freakin’ cool for words.

A few other Office updates for you Office-ianados..

John & Jenna are featured in the latest TV Guide. Check out the article and image here. (and if you want the first ever joint interview with John Krasinski & Jenna Fischer – you know where to go)

I’ve had a lot of email from readers asking about the interview with BJ Novak. All I can say is that he has the questions, and I’m sure he’ll get back to me when he can. Something tells me BJ Novak probably has a few other things to do besides answer questions from me. I’m just grateful he agreed to talk to me…what a sweetheart!

If any of you attend this Thursday’s taping of Ellen DeGeneres (with guests J.Kras and Rainn) or the UCBT shindig with John Krasinski on Thursday night, PLEASE take pics and send them along.

Veronica Mars is Almost Here

Just a few more days until I head out to San Diego to visit the set of Veronica Mars. It’s going to be great to get on that plane and chill. Work has been a bit crazy this week so I haven’t really had the chance to prep for my trip. But I will…don’t you worry, I’ll be ready.

I think it’s really cool that The WB and UPN (soon to be the CW) are recognizing bloggers in this way. I wish more networks would get on board. I’ve been trying like mad to get on the press lists for NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox etc but I guess with all the “legit” media types out there, they aren’t looking to work with bloggers at this point in time. Blogging is here to stay network people. Get on the blogging train.

If you were dating Dancing with the Star’s vixen hottie Stacey Keibler you’d be in 7th Heaven too. But it seems Stacey’s boyfriend really was in 7th Heaven…the TV show that is.

According to the in-the-knowsters over at Fatback and Collards, Stacey’s longtime love is none other than Geoff Stults who used to play Ben on the long running WB drama. Geoff’s brother George, is still on the show and plays Kevin Kinkirk, Lucy’s husband.

Grey’s Anatomy Comes Clean About Meredith & George

Comments Off on Grey’s Anatomy Comes Clean About Meredith & George

Krista Vernoff has some ‘splain to do. Krista is the Grey’s Anatomy writer responsible for the late night shirt-offing between Meredith and George on this week’s show. Whether you are pro MerGe (ha) or not, you had to be shocked at the events that unfolded. The buzz is not all good, as some people are desperately trying to find a way to like Meredith, and her potentially breaking our poor Georgie’s heart just isn’t endearing her to us.

The writer’s of Grey’s Anatomy have thier own forum for reaching the fans, and it’s called Grey Matter. It’s bascially a blog where show creator Shonda Rhimes and her staff of writers can blog about the show.

This week Krista explains how after must protest, she finally came around to the idea of Meredith and George’s affair. Below is a few of the highlights, but make sure you check out Grey Matter for all the details.

I think that for 20 years, Meredith has, somewhere in the deepest part of her psyche, held on to the fantasy that her dad is out there, just waiting to love her. I think she thinks that when she finally makes the effort to know him, he will open his arms, and open his heart and apologize for leaving and just love her like crazy. The news of Ellis’ affair was the opportunity Meredith had needed to finally forgive him enough to approach him. She gathered what had to be a HUGE amount of courage to knock on his door…And then the fantasy died.

And then she went to a bar and drank.

And then Mark made her hope again, if only briefly, that she could have the man she loves back.

And then she went home and stared out her window in a state that I can only imagine was tremendous pain and loss and grief.

And then George came in. And poor George DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THIS. He was not there to take advantage of her when she was in a vulnerable state. All he knew was that he had spent the entire day working up his courage to finally, finally make her hear him.
And, unwittingly, he said the world’s most perfect things.

He said he would never leave her (like her father did). He said he would never hurt her (like Derek did). He said he would never stop loving her.

And he was safe and familiar and so incredibly kind. And she wanted that kindness in her life very badly. She wanted to be a healthy woman who would choose the nice guy who loved her and stop chasing the sexy, unavailable guys who didn’t (or couldn’t).

It’s Time to Vote for Your American Idol

February 21, 2006 by

The top 12 ladies kicked off the first real night of American Idol. The first night YOU get to vote. There were some decent performances, and one or two great performances. But before I get into my review, I have a few things to discuss.

(1) What the H-E-double hockey sticks are the producers are doing with these pre-performance interviews? Maybe it’s just that these kids are newbies, but the interviews are painful to watch. I don’t care about Kellie’s jailbird Daddy, nor that Brenna didn’t have enough food to eat as a child. Come on…I came to listen to their voices, not their sob stories.

(2) Um, is it me or did Seacrest get some work done? I think Ryan might have had a little ‘tox around the eyes. Ryan, you are YOUNG and a guy…please tell me it ain’t so.

Now here’s my two cents on what really matters – the performances.

Mandisa: What a way to start off the show! Mandisa was a powerhouse tonight singing Heart’s Never. I thought her voice was strong and she had a great stage presence. One of the stronger women tonight.

Kellie Pickler: The 2006 version of Carrie Underwood was ok, but not great. She was one of my favorites during the audition process, but tonight she didn’t bring it. I thought she pushed the vocals a bit too hard and came off mostly flat while singing How Far by Martina McBride. She’s cute and adorable so that’s going to help her.

Becky O’Donohue: A perfect example of how looks can help you make it in this competition is Becky O’Donohue. I’ve heard her sing a few times and never have been impressed. She’s gorgeous, no doubt, but she doesn’t have the voice. He performance of Because the Night was nothing better than what you get from a local cover band. She’s hot so I’m sure she’ll be around for a few more weeks.

Ayla Brown: I was really split on Ayla’s performance of My Reflection, one of my favorite songs ever! She was better than I expected, and really ran with a few of the riffs, but she didn’t blow me over. But since she’s from around here, and I wake up to her mom Gayle Huff on the news every morning, I’ll go easy this week.

Paris Bennett: This little spitfire has a great voice, and had a ton of energy. I’ll be honest, I was a little distracted by her dancing and jumping all over the stage, but no one else seemed to mind. All three judges loved her rendition of Midnight Train to Georgia. She was definitely one of the best of the whole night.

Stevie Scott: Yeah, I forgot this girl even existed, and I just watched her perform about 15 minutes ago. How does one sing To Where You Are by Josh Groban and not feel the need to put your full voice behind it? She started off sounding sweet but lost every opportunity to show her vocal range. I’m thinking she’s the one to go. And by Simon’s vocal hissing, I think he’s ready to say goodbye to Stevie as well.

Brenna Gethers: The “I hate her and it’s only the first night of voting” award goes to Brenna Gethers. Listen, she has made it this far because Simon likes her attitude. The producers thinks she makes good TV. But let’s be real – she doesn’t have the pipes. She’s been all bad ass from day one, and them performs You are the Sunshine of My Life? C’mon. She wasn’t the worst singer, but close to it, and I just don’t like her. So there!!

Heather Cox: I heard at least 4 or 5 girls outsing this chic during Hollywood week. But those girls didn’t have pretty blond hair and nice eyes, so they are at home watching this on TV. Heather has a nice voice, but she’s no American Idol. And I thought it was a bit cheesy to sing When You Tell Me That You Love Me, an American Idol ’05 cast song, during your first week. Pick something original people.

Melissa McGhee: I kind of liked Melissa. She told us that this was her first on-screen performance, which is probably why I didn’t recognize her at first. She warbled a bit performing Faith Hill’s When the Lights Go Down, but she had a strong voice, and a good stage presence. I hope to see her again next week.

Lisa Tucker: Lisa really stuck out tonight, and in a good way. She was definitely flat in certain sections, but I could forgive that because her song selection was so tight (Changing, by Jennifer Holliday), and she really brought it. She has a killer voice and I can see her going far in this competition.

Kinnik Sky: It’s not a good sign that while someone is performing all I can think is “I hope Simon doesn’t tell her she looks like a drag queen”. But she does…sorry. Her rendition of Get Here by Oleta Adams was weak, and I shuttered a few times when she failed to make some of the notes. Plus, I’ll be honest, I loved Justin Guarini’s version of that song so much, I hate it when anyone else sings it. (Stop laughing…Justin was god). Kinnik will make it past tonight, but I don’t think she’ll go much further.

Katherine McPhee: Simon was right on when he said she was the strongest vocalist tonight. I was slightly distracted by her lack of stage presence, but that could have been nerves. Katherine rocked it tonight while performing Barbara Streisand’s Since I Fell For You. She has a great control over her voice and knows how to sell the subtleties of a song. Katherine was my favorite singer tonight. And man, she so looks like Amanda Bynes.

So my picks for best and worst this week…

Best: Katherine McPhee (1-866-IDOLS-12)

Worst: Stevie Scott
Who I want to go home: Brenna Gethers

The boys are up tomorrow night. I hope Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks live up to the hype…um, I’ve created. Now get to the phones and VOTE!!! I already did!!

McDreamy He’s Not, But By George We Love Him

George O’Malley is a doer (something Meredith Grey knows well). He’s lovable, cute as all heck, and I’d pick him in an instant to be the brother I never had. But what do we know about TR Knight, the actor who plays the lovable George?

Check out this CNN Q&A with Seattle Grace’s most squashable Doctor. Find out what TR has to say about why the show works, George’s relationship with Meredith, and the infamous shower scene.

Here’s a little taste…

Q: Why do you think the show is so popular?

T.R. KNIGHT: You have a really — excluding myself — fascinating group of actors who are all very different from each other, exceedingly different. You’ve got really good writing and I really like the point of view of our creator, Shonda (Rhimes). I like her politics, I like what she stands for and I like what she’s trying to do with the show.

Q: Tell us about that scene where you fantasized about showering with your female colleagues.

KNIGHT: I love that. I think it was a great, great way to bring people into the show. But it also made sense because the last episode you left it, George was in bed with Izzie and Meredith. So he’s got a lot of frustrations with that, and so his desires have to come out even subconsciously somewhere.

Q: Was it fun to film?

KNIGHT: Oh, it was a blast! You know, everyone’s really covered up. No one’s completely naked. You get body makeup and so someone’s spreading body makeup on you. I think if you were an exhibitionist, you’d kind of be in hog heaven, but I’m not that person.

Want to Chat with a Celebrity?

Have you ever dreamed that you’d pick up the phone and your favorite TV star would be on the other line? How fun would that be? The conversation could go something like this:

Ring..Ring

You: Hello
Celebrity: Hey, what’s up?
You: Nothing. What’s up with you?
Celebrity: Not much, just chililng in my trailer and felt like calling a fan of the show
You: No way. You are so cool.
Celebrity: Yeah I know. So I was wondering if you wanted to fly out to LA, and hang with me and the rest of the cast of The Office. We could grab a drink, and just chill. Oh yeah, I’m best friends with Michael Vartan, Dr. McDreamy, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper and Vince Vaughn,…would you mind if they hung with us too?
You: No problem. Sounds like fun
Celebrity: Ok dude, see you soon
You: Bye
Celebrity: Bye

A dream, right? (Well, yeah). But not if you have money. With the right amount of bank, you could have the chance to talk to celebs such as Rachel Bilson, Melissa Ehtridge, Brooke Shields and Kristin Cavallari. They are just some of the names auctioning off 10 minutes of talk time on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/skypeaceleb). The auction was organized by VoIP company, Skype, and all the benefits are going to the Art of Elysium, an organization that connects artists with needy children.

So you never know…once of these days you could be talking to your favorite star. Just don’t ask if you can marry them. I hear that’s bad form.

Hope you had fun visiting my delusional world.

The White House Bans 24 Spoilers

Comments Off on The White House Bans 24 Spoilers

The White House has issued a rule asking that no West Wingers talk about the latest episode of 24 until the new one airs. Seems that the staff, including Chief of Staff Andy Card, has been so busy lately that they often have to TiVo 24 and might need a full week before they get to watch the show.

I can’t imagine why people in the White House would want to watch 24 as entertainment. Don’t they live this stuff? I would think they would be bothered by some of the unrealistic settings and scenarios.

It’s like my fabulous Dr. friend who once mentioned that he was irked by the inaccuracies of Grey’s Anatomy. Or my super secret spy friend who just can’t seem to watch Alias, because he’s an international spy and some of that stuff is just made up. You know?! If you see that stuff everyday, how can it still be entertainment? Then again, I guess White House staffers aren’t dodging bullets and debunking nuclear bombs on a daily basis….or are they? My friend, the spy, says I should stop writing now.

Just a quick note for those of you in the Los Angeles area, John Krasinski will be a guest on Seth Morris’s live on-stage talk show “Bro’in Out with Seth Morris” at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre this Thursday.

What to Watch Tonight: How I Met Your Mother

February 20, 2006 by

I don’t know about you, but with all the hoopla surrounding the Olympics and all the reruns, I’m feeling a little ugh about TV these days. Maybe I’m in The Office and Veronica Mars withdrawl, but with the exception of Grey’s Anatomy, I’ve been a bit bored with TV these days. Gasp, I said it!!

But tonight I’ve something to look forward to. I’ve recently become a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother. I was intrigued when it first premiered in the fall, but opted to watch Kitchen Confidential instead. C’mon ladies – Doogie Howser vs. Bradley Cooper? Cut me some slack, I’m single. Anyway, when KC was canceled I was more than happy to fill that time slot with HIMYM. And I’m so glad I did. This show is the best part of my Monday’s. For those of you who havent’ seen the show, here’s the basic premise.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is a comedy about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. It all starts when Ted’s best friend, Marshall (Jason Segal), drops the bombshell that he’s going to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Lily (Alyson Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realizes that he had better get a move on if he too hopes to find true love. Helping him in his quest is Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), a friend with endless, sometimes outrageous opinions, a penchant for suits and a foolproof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin (Cobie Smulders), he’s sure it’s love at first sight, but destiny may have something else in store. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future.

If you haven’t checked it out, trust me, it’s worth your time. The show is laugh out loud good. And Doogie Howser is STILL as adorable as he was at 11 years old…maybe cuter (only because he’s no longer jailbait).

If you check out HIMYM for the first time tonight, let me know what you think?
