Grey’s Anatomy Recap: Blues For Sister Someone (4/30/06)

Grey's Anatomy Cast

So what are those crazy kids from Seattle Grace Hospital up to today…

George and Callie are getting it on, and she’s not crying so that’s a good thing for George. Callie did a grat job with George’s haircut, and he looks more adorable than he ever has. I mean really, he looks HOT.

Addison and Derek just finished having “the most boring sex ever”. They can’t seem to get it together. Maybe because it’s not meant to be. I don’t know. The phone rings and Meredith tells Derek that Doc, the dog, will be fine. Thinking it’s the vet calling, Addison grabs the phone and tells him they are trying to have some decent sex. Keyword “decent”.

Meredith is still in the vet’s office talking to Finn. It’s amazing that Meredith can get a man, because she’s quite strange and annoying. Finn asks Meredith out. She denies him, well, because she’s crazy.
The next day, in the hospital, Meredith asks Alex for advice on Finn, another example of her craziness, and completely self absorbed behavior. He wants none of it. Nor does Christina who happens to think that dating a vet is below Meredith. I don’t think sleeping with anyone is below Meredith.

Addison, still reeling from her night of bad sex is in dire need for an intern and she grabs Alex. He tells her that the doesn’t “do vagina, not as a doctor anyway”. Yeah, not the right response, Dr. McMoron. Addy and Alex’s patient is a Rose, monther of oh, about, 1 zillion kids, ok 6, with another on the way.

Rose is played by Jean Louise Kelly, and although she is probably best known for playing Kim on Yes, Dear, she is and always will be Rowena Morgan from Mr. Holland’s Opus (beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Cole). Anyway, since she’ll always be Rowena, she seems way too young to play this role. But she is, so I have to deal. On with the show.

It seems her character, Rose, wants to have Addison tie her tubes during the C-section, and she doesn’t want her husband to know about it. She’s asked Addison to keep this surgery off the books,so no one will know. They are playing this out to be very dramatic. Um, not to get into politics here, but it’s her body, and if she wants to tie her tubes after having 7 kids, then come on, can you blame her? Well according to her husband, God can, and will. Her husband is quite religious and would never let her have this surgery. And since birth control is out of the question in the Catholic church, she wants her tubes ties, and her husband to never know.

Alex being Alex decides to throw out an intrusive and inappropriate comment. Addy puts him in his place, but Alex is still going strong with all that piss and vingar. Later on, as the patient is being prepped for her C-section, Alex continues with the jabs, and comments. Why he hasn’t been written up for his behavior is kind of beyond me at this point. Bailey would have had him kicked out of the program if he ever dared to speak to her like that.

While in surgery, Addison pretends to see some bleeding in order to facilitate the hush hush tube tying. She asks Alex to pass her the instrument she needs, and he hesitates. He has to be asked three times before he complies. Alex, dude, what is wrong with you? Is this really all about Izzie? Because Denny is going to be dead before you know it and she might need someone to comfort her. I’m just saying…don’t throw away your entire surgical career over some blonde.

Post surgery – After hearing about the comlications, the husband asks Alex what went wrong. Alex bascially tells him that this “complication” might have been God’s way to to help get their 7 kids through college. When the husband asks what he meant by that, Alex says “get a lawyer”. Yeah, and I’m thinking Alex should pick up a few shifts at McDonalds, because McDreamy’s wife is going to have his balls in a vice for pulling that shit.

McDreamy, George, and Izzie are working on a case of a woman with a seizure disorder. The patient just happens to be a divorce lawyer, and has offered her services to the room. When George and Izzie exchange knowing looks behind McDreamy’s back, the lawyer picks up on it and inquires about his need for her services. Derek is a bit agitated. Did something hit too close for home?

Derek would like George and Izzie to force the woman to have a seizure so they can figure out where in the brain the seizures are occuring so he can operate. Izzie uses her time with George to interrogate him about his personal life, but he’s not having it. When Callie stops by for some harmless flirting, Izzie brings out the attitude. I think Izzie misses her George.

Izzie and George keep trying different methods to force their patient to have a seizure. After having her watch a TV super up close doesn’t work, they try numerous, and I mean numerous shots of espresso, and then move on to a video game that is thought to cause seizures after reaching a certain level. As the woman plays her game, Izzie starts prying about George’s personal life again. After pushing a bit too hard, George tells Izzie that he holds her somewhat responsible for the whole Meredith debacle. He says that if she were a real friend, Izzie wouldn’t have encourage George to go after Meredith knowing the

Mer didn’t have feelings for him. These two keep yelling back and forth at each other until they send their patient into a full blow Grand Mal seizure.

After the patient recovers from her seizure, Derek tells her that he was able to map her brain and he now has the information he needs to operate. But it seems that the patient has decided against the invasive surgery. She explains that her whole life is being a divorce attorney and her seizures. When she was admitted into the hospital, her seizures stopped. They were triggered again when George and Izzie were yelling at each other. She thinks that by changing her lifestyle, and removing herself from other people’s stress, she can better manage her seizures. She wants to give her new life a shot before she lets Derek cut open her brain. He agrees.

As the patient is getting ready to leave, George stops by to wish her well. She tells him that when two people fight like he and Izzie, then it’s obvious that they love each other. She says that it’s clear to her that Izzie misses her friend. Aw. God, I can’t get over how cute George looks with that new haircut.

Dr. Bailey is still being mommmy-tracked by the Chief.  Burke throws her a bone and lets her handle Dying Denny for the day. Meredith is assigned to Bailey, and therefore Dying Denny. Izzie is not too pleased. After running some tests, Bailey gives Denny the ok to get up and do some walking. Denny lets Bailey know that her advice happens to go against Izzie’s. Not one to be questioned by a patient or an intern, Bailey tells Meredith that she wants to know what’s going on between Denny and Izzie. Meredith tries to warn Izzie about her relationship with Dying Denny, although coming from Meredith it’s borderline hypocritical.

A bit later, it’s time for Dying Denny to do some walking. After being unhooked from the 5000 machines he’s on, he’s ready to go. Or he would be ready to go if he could actually breathe. Meredith, Bailey and the Chief rush around to get Denny breathing. The Chief continues to second guess Bailey. As it turns out, one of Denny’s breathing contraptions came undone, but Bailey fixes it and Denny is fine.

After he’s out of the woods, Meredith decides to have a chat with Denny about Izzie. One sentence into this and I’m already predicting that it’s not going to end well. Last time I checked, Izzie isn’t too pleased when people butt into her life. Funny how she’s all about George’s business these days. Not-dying-today Denny tells Meredith that he knows he shouldn’t have feelings for Izzie, but life’s too short to follow the rules.

Bailey confronts the Chief about second guessing her in fron of her intern and her patient. The Chief tells Bailey that he’s not convinced that she’s back on her game yet. He says it’s not a reflection of her abilities or how highly he thinks of her. Bailey is a little taken back by what the Cheif has to say.The Chief doesn’t have time to explain more because Rose’s husband wants a word with him. Uh oh.

Addison finds the chief and tries to tell him about Alex’s behavior, but the Chief cuts her off because she’s got bigger issues than Alex Karev. Rose’s husband has been talking to the hospital lawyers. The Chief wants to know exactly what complication lead to the severing of the woman’s fallopian tubes. Addison is b-u-s-t-e-d, BUSTED!

Addison visits with Rose and tells her that she has to tell her husband that she asked to have her tubes tied. Rose won’t do it. She argues that Addison has the insurance, and that since she’s a world famous Dr, people will get over this incident.

Meredith and Derek meet up in the elevator. They share a chuckle over Derek and Addison’s bad sex. Of course, Meredith just has to tell Derek about the Vet.

Back in the Vet’s office, Meredith decides to drop in on McVet and tells her that she’s knitting but also dating. He’d like to take her on that night but he has to first birth a horse. Mer goes along. After the horse is born, McVet invites Meredith over to his place so she can shower and he can cook dinner. Meredith starts doing her annoying bantering thing, talking a mile a minute. He’s all kind of cute and flirty with her. She tells him that there’s nothing that he can say to get her to go up to his apartment. He tells her to shut up. God, I’ve been waiting for someone to tell her that from day one. He tells her that if she comes up to his apartment, there is no way he will sleep with her. He won’t even try to kiss her.

A world famous violinist, Eugene Foot, whose music has made a big impact on Dr. Burke, is requesting that his life saving pacemaker is removed as it interferes with his internal rhythm and hence his music. Removing the pacemaker is more difficult due to some scar tissue. Burke has some reservations about being the one to perform the surgery. After some convincing from his woman, Burke decides to go for it.

During surgery Burke runs into some complications, and he loses his patient on the table. Back in his apartment Burke listens to Eugene’s music, and has a sad moment. Christina tries to console Burke, but he’s beating up on himself pretty badly.

Alex continues to be a smug ass. Addison lets him know that she is asking Bailey to have Alex personally assigned to her for as long as she wants. Kiss her ass Alex…she owns you.

Izzie is a little upset that Denny is up walking around. She thinks it’s too risky. But he tells her that he’s ok. They share their very first hug. But Bailey happens to walk by the room just at that moment, and she doesn’t seem too happy.

It seems that Doc is sick again, and Derek has to take him to see McVet. A recently showered Meredith, sporting McVet’s shirt comes down stairs and sees Derek. McDreamy gives Meredith those most icy McStare. Ouch, I felt that one. Derek had slut written in his eyes.

George decides to move back into the house with Izzie and Meredith. Callie is there with him for the night, and although Izzie isn’t too thrilled, she can’t contain her glee over having he buddy George back home.

Back in the trailer Derek pulls Addison into the shower for some steamy sex…yeah, good thing he doesn’t have a thing for Meredith anymore.

Next week….McDreamy calls Meredith a whore. And that’s all you really need to know.

I see… you don’t like Meredith… but to write down a more respectable recap you should avoid commentaries like “I don’t think sleeping with anyone is below Meredith.”
