Jim Halpert/Tim Canterbury Tribute - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Jim Halpert/Tim Canterbury Tribute

June 28, 2006 by

Welcome to GMMR’s happy place. I just came across this video of classic Jim Halpert (John Krasinski, The Office-US) and Tim Canterbury (Martin Freeman, The Office-UK) moments set to the very appropriate tune, “It’s All in the Face”. (You can so tell when I come home form work and hang out on YouTube.com)

Special thanks to absnow54 for posting the video.

You do not understand how excited I was to see this at the top of you blog this afternoon. Yep, I’m squeeing! Thanks for the vid love, but I think the true thanks go to John and Martin.

I resisted the British version, somewhat defensively I suppose, even though my DVR couldn’t tell the difference and kept recording both versions. But now that withdrawal is in full swing, I’d gladly watch the original.

And of course it’s not currently airing.

    Great video, though.

OH!! Watch the original!! Its so good! I think the US version has definately come into its own and is its own show now (and EXTREMELY good!) but the BBC version is still so fantastic! Tim has his own wonderfulness!! – just like Jim! -Great vid!! I love it! I will be saving this one!

GMMR, have you watched any of the Brit office? You and I have pretty much the same taste, so I’m curious what you think. (I haven’t seen it yet, but think I may watch it soon.)

This video was great. I was originally watching the BBC version on BBC America, but they stopped airing it, so now i haven’t finished it. Anyway, Tim is great and of course i love Jim, so this video was absolutely perfect. I was actually quite surprised to see how well John played Jim (rather, Tim’s counterpart) and he does a great job w/ the facial expressions just like Martin did as Tim. Love ’em both! Anyway, great job!

Fans of the US version of the office may not necessarily fall in love with the UK version. Fans of Arrested Development will definitely fall in love with the UK version, however. The US version is much sweeter and innocent where as the UK version is rather dark and bleak at times (mainly the character of David Brent that is.) However it’s really fun to see evolution of the US from the UK version. Most of Jim’s pranks were originated by Tim including the jello (obviously), screwing with Dwight(Garreth)’s investications, and locking Dwight(Garreth) in his office. Also the Tim and Dawn relationship, although starting out much like the Jim and Pam one, branches off in a completely different direction, making the Christmas Special so rewarding. Definitely get a hold of the Christmas special! Part II is just fantastic!

Thanks for the info. Since my post above, I’ve ordered the UK series 1&2 and the special from Netflix. I’ll be thoroughly schooled by US season 3. By the way, Lucy Davis is a mega cutie-pie. Tim looks like a serial killer or an extra from an Austin Powers movie.

I was introduced to the UK version by the US version and I have to say, if I had to choose between Tim and Jim, I would choose…Tim. I’m not very familiar with Tim’s character all that well compared to Jim, but there’s just something about Tim, (with little exposure to him) that I can’t put my finger on. I don’t know what it is but Martin Freeman as Tim is just…amazing! Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally in love with Jim but there’s just something about Tim that I’m more intrigued about.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the UK version of The Office. I just think that the US version and the UK version are very different. I would never want to compare the two, but rather enjoy each of them for what they bring to the table. I think Tim is adorable, and I love Tim and Dawn. But if I had to choose….come on, it J. Kras for me…all the way.
