Here’s the video and audio from John Krasinski’s reading from “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” at JEST FEST ’06

WARNING: Both the audio clip and the video are Rated MA for language and subject matter. But if you ever wanted to hear John Krasinski (or better yet, Jim Halpert) talk dirty, here’s your chance. And ladies, I triple dog dare you not to swoon over this one!

VICTORY FOR THE FORCES OF DEMOCRATIC FREEDOM!

So here’s a little more from Lauren on John’s adaptation of “Brief Interview” and his role (aside from writing and directing the film).

Seriously, I love DFW, but the majority of the people there were there for John, and I’m sure that’s why they put him on last. To the joy of all of us that are BI fans, he read the “Victory for the Forces of Democratic Freedom” interview–which I have now confirmed from JK himself that he is not playing.

After that (the reading) I asked, “So is that the role that you’re doing?” He said, “No, I didn’t want a major role. Just something really tiny.” “Trying to avoid the whole ‘Next Zach Braff’ thing?” “Exactly, but now someone dropped out so I have to play a bigger role, so eeeh. I don’t want it to be about me, it’s all about doing justice to this [holds up book]. So . . .” “But you’re excellent”–yes, I said excellent–“so it will be amazing!”

GiveMeMyRemote.com will be covering the development of “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” as best as we can until it premiers. And hell, we’ll probably show up at that too.

UPDATE: If Lauren’s one-on-one with John weren’t cool enough she later surprised me with a phone call from John Krasinski himself!!

Wow. Thanks so much for taping this. It was so wonderful! I loved hearing and watching him reading this. His love for the work really comes through.

And yeah, I feel kinda swoony.

    I swooned.

    “And scene.”

Thanks so much for posting the clips! And for all your great work over here.

I wish I could tell you more about the movie–I actually interviewed to work on it as an intern, but I didn’t get it because I wasn’t in the area. But I hear John’s optioned some other books by DFW, so maybe one day…

This boy usually breaks my heart on thursday nights–oh the Pam drama!–but I’m not usually there in the room to witness it! I feel very privileged to be able to share this with all of you–it was totally worth sitting in a very hot room.

And the “and scene” totally killed me! Way to silly up a serious moment!

    He owns me…

  6. Kelli on November 17th, 2006 8:25 am

I swooned big time. I’m not afraid to admit it, because that was FREAKING AWESOME!

  7. Kristi on November 17th, 2006 11:21 am

haha oh my … that was amazingly hot. He can yell whatever the hell he wants to with me ::swoons:: Hearing J Kras talk dirty pretty much just made my week 😉

  8. Emily on November 17th, 2006 12:27 pm

Yup, I have to agree with Kristi. Yell anything you want to, as loud as you want to, JKras! And hearing him say the f-word gave me goosebumps, made my eyes widen a bit, and made me smirk in a devilish way…

    I wonder who dropped out…
Who wouldn’t want to participate in a movie with John in it?!

  10. GMMR on November 17th, 2006 5:13 pm

Why am I hoping it’s all of John’s buddies in the flick. Will Arnett, Joey Slotnick…and um, Schwimmer?

Ok and if John could become friends with Wentworth Miller it would be great.

Oh holy mother of god. Thank you for that. And, since I haven’t had any luck trying to find out about this, has anyone heard anything about John’s movie “A New Wave”??? It was filmed probably at least two years ago and the trailer looked really good (he said the f-word a lot, ladies) but now it’s nowhere to be found. And I’m very sad.

  12. GMMR on November 17th, 2006 8:02 pm

From what I understand “A New Wave” hasn’t found a distributor and hasn’t been released. Something tells me that it will come out, at least on DVD to capitalize on John’s success

Thanks for the info! Ever since I first saw the trailer I’ve been dying to see it – promise you’ll post if you hear anything! 🙂

I am SOOO glad that he’s doing readings and that you were kind enough to post it!!!

After I read that John said that this book changed him, I had to read it to find out why. I really enjoyed reading it and I must say that WHILE I was reading it, it was John’s voice that I could hear in some parts. And since there are very candid scenes in the book, I figured that they wouldn’t make John blush too much (as they would Jim!)…and I’m very pleased to see that I was right! He is so much older than his years. I think that is one of the things I admire in him. It’s hard for me to believe that he’s only 27! (28?….anyone know what his REAL year of birth is?)

Thanx again for posting and for following him on this journey. It will make the time pass a little quicker while I wait and wait for the movie to come out.

So did he say which part he’s going to be playing? i’d really hoped it would be the one from the last interview. That one was really moving.

    Thanx again!!!

My third comment on this post, but I just had to ask: Is anyone else randomly hearing John yelling “Victory for the forces of democratic freedom!” in their head? It keeps popping into my head and making me laugh – finally something enjoyable stuck in my head instead of a Pussycat Dolls song or something. I am really looking forward to the movie too, Holly. The book was great. His book Oblivion is also a really great read. I haven’t conquered Infinite Jest yet – it’s massive!

  16. GMMR on November 20th, 2006 11:38 am

I too was hearing John yell that, and at the most inappropriate times…if you know what I mean. Kidding!! Kidding!!

  17. Nicole on November 20th, 2006 12:12 pm

    LOL!!

  18. Nicole on November 20th, 2006 12:14 pm

P.S. – The shirts with “Victory for the forces….” on them that you’re selling? Pure geniousity. Seriously.

  19. Leslie on November 20th, 2006 5:47 pm

Have you thought about trying to post John’s clip from the movie Kinsey? Not sure how difficult it would be to obtain. He is only in one scene, I believe.

  20. Nicole on November 20th, 2006 10:26 pm

Leslie – I don’t know how to make this a link, but here is the clip on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHx7-Qeuxrk

It looks like whoever put it up got it by videotaping their tv screen, but still, better than nothing, right?

  21. GeekCheek on November 21st, 2006 12:56 am

John did not say which part he would be playing, but he did say it was small, so I’m inclined to think that even though it’s not as tiny as he originally planned, it’s not going to be a major-major character–I would consider the character from the last interview to be pretty large.
