People's Choice Award Nominees

We’re kicking off awards season with the People’s Choice Awards (9/8c on CBS). I’ll probably watch, but only because there’s not a lot of new TV on tonight.

Let’s just take a quick looksy at some of the noms, shall we?Tom Hanks up for favorite movie actor?
Sandra Bullock is in the running for favorite movie actress?
Favorite Funny Female Star? Queen Latifah?

Nothing against these obviously talented actors, but really…this is who the “people” are saying were their faves in 2006? I just find it all a little suspect. And if you don’t agree, PLEASE explain to me how among every actress on TV today Jennifer Love Hewitt is in the running for favorite female TV star? Yeah…hmm.

I’d have to agree with you on this. I’ve never understood how they decided the “People’s Choice” anything. It’s never who I would have picked. It seems like the TV show awards, they just pick which shows are the highest in the ratings. I don’t agree that they always have the best actors. I think anyone on VM or The Office is better than some of their picks.

Huh? No Office love? A travesty indeed.

Who are these “people”? The only nominees I would vote for are McDreamy, Grey’s, and SexyBack (but only because of the new Office fanvid and because I liked the dance on SYTYCD). These “people” that select the nominees must also be the “people” who watch comedy on ABC.

I’m going to hunt down whoever thinks Charlie Sheen is a better TV male than Steve Carell and I’m going to do bad things to them.

it’s got to be based off ratings or money generated. Those seem to be top grossing films, songs and ratings heavy shows. so…maybe they should just change the name of the awards.

nuts and bolts, nuts and bolts, we got screwed!

    That is just awful

Earl is up byt The Office is not?! I was sure Steve Carell would get a nod for Favorite Male TV Star! This is malfeasunce for malfeasunce sake! but Tom Hanks is up for Favorite Movie Actor?! But all Will Farell gets is Favorite Funny Male Star?! I do NOT think that is funny. Oh well, I will never understand this world. PEACE!

I always have wondered who they actually talk to for these nominations. The only good thing about the awards from earlier this year was that Prison Break won best new TV drama and we got to see the cast enjoy the success of their show.

Otherwise, these awards usually don’t make any sense. I think one year (maybe this past one) someone was nominated as favorite movie actor or actress and he or she didn’t even have a movie come out that year. And I will never understand how so many people think King of Queens and Two and a Half Men are actually funny.

How can there be NO noms for The Office? This show has been bad in the past, but this is an all-time low. Plus, they tell the winners who they are in advance and it always leaks out to the press. Boo!

Who are these “people”? That’s what I want to know.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. These award shows always suck the big one (except when The Office got an Emmy). I never agree w/ the nominations and i’m not surprised The Office got shafted. Normally, if i like it, it won’t be nominated. If it’s good, yeah, won’t be on there.

    Basically, these “people” suck.

    King of Queens? Really? Ew.

  13. Sus on November 8th, 2006 8:30 am

I’m a person and I didn’t get asked. No fair.

I certainly wouldn’t have chosen more than half of those people. Especially not SkinnyBitch Hewitt.

wait. these are THIS YEARS NOMINATIONS????

i thought you were recounting past noms. Seriously. Seriously seriously.

    What the %^$##@$??!!
Holy heck GMMR, I read your entry too fast and I thought it said “can anyone explain to me how Jennifer Love Hewit is NOT nominated?” hahaha. I was gonna post ‘well um er, where do I begin….’
It’s a tragedy that The office was overlooked but I am thrilled to see Two and a Half Men get the recognition it derserves, it’s a really well written, well acted…. OK sorry now I’m just being mean 😉
Seriously after looking at the nominees I say PHEW, I don’t think I’d want The Office on that list. That is some messed up shiz.

I’ll never understand why King of Queens is even on the air, let alone popular and nominated this. Honestly, I can’t see a single thing I would vote for… oh wait, Kiefer is up, even though 24 isn’t.
Also, I’d have to say that South Park is the strongest animated adult program on TV right now. But I guess I just don’t get King of the Hill.

  17. Ten on November 8th, 2006 9:21 pm

I definitely second that “huh?”! I’d like to see some quality work nominated for once. I know it’s rude to judge things without knowing what they’re like, but I have never understood why “King of Queens” and “Two and a Half Men” have been so nominated.

  18. duckyxdale on January 9th, 2007 11:50 am

I can’t believe these are still on the air. First of all 3 nominees is pointless. Oh wait, so are these awards.

So glad we might be watching these together.

I didn’t bother with the stupid award show, I watched HOUSE!
BTW, where was HUGH LAURIE on this show? Surely they didn’t omit one of the best actors of our time???
This award show is a JOKE!
