Grey’s Anatomy Mini Redux

Grey’s Anatomy cast

The following contains spoilers for last night Grey’s Anatomy. If you haven’t watched then it’s best you stop reading right about…wait for it, wait for it…NOW! These are my random thoughts on last night’s Grey’s Anatomy – don’t expect some genius insight here – I haven’t even had my morning coffee and I was up until 3am catching up on Thursday night TV.

What are you doing this weekend? Anything fun? It’s supposed to be a wintery mess here on the Northeast. George and Izzie slept together. I plan on doing a lot of shoveling this weekend. And perhaps get in some shopping, who can say.

See how I tried to be stealth and act like I don’t care that George and Izzie had sex. They had sex people! I heard rumors it was happening but I tried not to believe them. But it’s happened and I really don’t know how I feel about it. Well that’s not true, I do know how I feel – I’m not thrilled. Here’s why…

George & Izzie, Grey’s AnatomyI think George and Izzie love each other VERY much, but they aren’t in love. The sex was really a result of Izzie’s loneliness and George’s momentary lapse that he is MARRIED! I’m sorry did you hear me? He’s married. And newly married at that. Listen, if George weren’t married I really wouldn’t think this is a big deal – it happens. Harry and Sally were right. But he is, and it shouldn’t have happened. I think Callie was wrong to have lied to George about the money, and her insecurities about Izzie have become a little much, but now that we know what’s happened was she perhaps justified? Oh and I shared Callie’s tears when she told George that Izzie had feelings for him and he was shocked that anyone that hot would be in to him. I’m not sure there was anything more he could of said to hurt her in that moment. Ouch, that was painful.

But the real reason I hated the sex was that it’s inevitably going to change the dynamic of George and Izzie. You don’t sleep with your best friend (especially when one of you is married) and walk away unaffected. How they will be, and who they will be for each other is yet to be seen, but things are forever changed, and that makes me a bit sad.

Callie is going to kick some ass. First George’s and then Izzie’s because this is all coming out in the open. And when it does I’m running for cover. It’s going to be REALLY bad if the other rumors I have heard are true. (Note to self – install spoiler bars on GMMR)

What else happened on the show? Oh right, I don’t care. Well I do care a little…about Meredith. Seems she sprang back to life (pun intended) and is looking at things with a bit more optimism. She met with her Dad, and as horribly wrong as it went it still wasn’t all that bad. Her real family showed up and helped her through the night in whatever way they could. It was subtle but I picked up on it Shonda.

Alex living with the girls in the house? It felt a little contrived but I’ll go with it for now, only because it means we will hopefully get a little more insight into Alex’s life, and this man intrigues me…yes he does.

Christina has a thing for sleeping with men of power and influence. This news seems to shock Burke, yet it’s been at the crux of their relationship from day one. The emotional immaturity of these two is trying my patience. Why do they think they should get married? Are they in love? Really? They make me happy I’m single.

Ok enough rambling from me. Your turn. Grey’s Anatomy thoughts….GO!

I literally had my hand over my eyes when George and Izzy were drinking together – I too had heard rumors but I was really hoping they wouldn’t go there. Looks like they did!

I was heart broken for Callie when George said those mean things. I agree she hid something from him, but I still think he overreacted. He was mean though, really really mean.

It’s nice to see Derek and Meredith have a “normal” relationship.

But I have to say, I don’t like that guy for chief…he’s hard to look at – he kind of creeped me out.

I’d say that the hook-up was a mistake, but I think it will be interesting to see the fallout of it all. It will bring a lot of things to a point.

I really have been enjoying Meredith lately. However, I was kind of pissed at McDreamy for his whole speech to her father about how “hard” she is…excuse me…she’s the most excepting of the whole group. I’m starting to think she needs to get rid of him and find someone who isn’t so full of himself and judgemental.

Christina and Meredith’s friendship contiunes to be my favorite thing about this show.

I loved last night’s episode and I have faith that George and Izzie will make it through their mistake without too much damage. They were both feeling hurt and vulnerable and their sex [implied but I’m pretty sure the deed was done] was much more about comfort than it was about being hot for each other. As for George’s very hurtful statement about Izzie being superhot and him being George… I think it was more about how he sees himself than how he sees Callie.

I really loved all of the awkwardness of Meredith and her family dinner. It was such a sweet surprise when her stepmom announced that they were at the hospital to check on Meredith, not because the baby was sick. Also, I loved the looks on Meredith’s and Thatcher’s faces at the end [right before the Izzie/George moment] when he fixed the swing by taking out the pin he installed all those years ago to keep Meredith from pinching her fingers.

And the new potential chief looks kind of like a corpse.

Have to agree with Madelyne…Derek’s comments annoyed me, especially b/c one of the biggest obstacles in their relationship was his marriage. And then his inability to choose. And then his choice to go back with his wife. So if she’s a bit insecure and a tad difficult, deal with it. And besides that, I find her less annoying lately, and have actually begun to like her.

As for George and Izzie…well, we saw how well things went for him and Meredith. Granted, I don’t think that Izzie started crying in the middle of it, but none-the-less, it almost destroyed that friendship. And, seriously…sleeping with two of you closest friends?? Will Christina be next? It’s just kind of ridiculous. I can’t wait for Callie to find out and start kicking some ass, though. Izzie has driven me nuts with her campaign to break up George and Callie, so she has a beatin coming. I still, for the life of me, can not figure out why everyone HATES Callie so much. At one point she and Meredith were getting along (as long as Callie stopped walking naked around the house). So why all the hating?

I really hated seeing Izzie and George together at the end of the episode. I totally agree with GMMR that this will forever change their friendship. It was one thing when George slept with Meredith because we all knew his feelings for her, but this really felt like it was just sprung on us. I never saw any romantic feelings between the two of them and I feel that this was just some dramatic way to break up Callie and George (whom I actually enjoyed seeing together). Yes, Callie should have told George about the money, but I really don’t think it was as a big of deal as he made it out to be. She had her reasons for being cautious and they did rush into the marriage.

And I couldn’t believe what George said about not thinking someone like Izzie could ever go for him. That is the worst thing he could have said to Callie and she had every right to kick him out for the night. It was no excuse for George to go get drunk with Izzie, though.

I’m really worried about the direction Grey’s is taking, especially with all the news about the spin-off. I wonder where it’s going from here?

I love Callie, probably because I relate most to her character. She’s smart, funny, and goes after what she wants. At the same time, she’s insecure. Aren’t we all? Not only do I think her reaction was completely justified (though George, being George, probably didn’t mean it the way it came out…), I don’t see any way they get past this. Oh, she’ll be pissed, and might kick George’s ass, but she’s done. Her fear was confirmed (somewhat) and their marriage vow broken. I haven’t read any spoilers, but if Izzie ends up pregnant, I may be done too.

Caveat–unless Callie and Alex hook up. Just sayin. 😉

I seriously thought that George was going to get with Izzie somehow when he and Callie were fighting.

I know Shonda is trying to bring back the Izzie/Alex romance(kitchen scene), but I still love Addison and Alex together.

These marriages really are ruining the storylines for Grey’s. Although I don’t hate Callie anymore, I just can’t see the two married together. This show lived off of the secret love affairs that no one knew about in Seattle Grace, and now everyone is settled down. That Cristina affair with her professor was interesting though.

Grey’s has definitely lost it’s steam since Derek is with Merideth again. I hope Office fans realize that this will happen also if Jim and Pam get together.

I saw from the previews where GA was going, so I opted not to watch. I am disappointed that they went this way with George, Callie, and Izzy.

I agree with the you GMMR when George said that to Callie. I wanted to cry. I just had that look of anger she had on her face and I wanted to go slap some sense into him. I don’t like them having Izzie/George together. They were the most normal friends.

Izzie has gotten a little mean this year. I hated the way she was treating Callie. I’ve never hated Callie. I think she’s great.

If I wanted anyone to be with Izzie, it would be Alex. I liked them together. I’m sorry, but the whole Alex/Addison thing has no where to go.

This is going to be like George and Meredith sleeping together all over again, isn’t it?

I think that with the amount of booze George was drinking, he won’t remember, and Izzy won’t tell him. She’ll clean up any evidence she was in bed with him and go bake some muffins and he’ll be none the wiser.

She’ll be wracked with guilt and be extra nice to Callie until something happens and she’ll let the cat out of the bag and Callie will kick her puny white ass.

I don’t see George and Izzy as a good match. I love both their characters, but not as a couple. I couldn’t believe the nerve of George and how hurtful he was to Callie. Even if his comment was more about how he sees himself than her, he compared his wife to a supermodel! He said, “Izzy is stacked…” Has he not looked at his wife?! SHE is stacked. She is more voluptuous than any of the women on that show! And as far as being angry about Callie’s money, is anyone else wondering why he’s not like, “woo hoo, my girls RICH!”. Or is it just me?
