Prison Break Renewed for Season 3

Fear not Prison Break lovers – the show will be back. Yesterday Fox announced that our favorite “break out” (pun not only intended but planned because I’m clever) hit show will return for Season 3. Paul Scheuring, the show’s Executive producer, said his team had been proceeding with this year’s season finale cliffhanger and had already mapped out much of season three when they received the firm pickup Tuesday.

“We already knew where we were going,” he said. “Most of the major players are returning, but it will be a reconceptualization again, just like it was in season two.”

Expect to see a few more faces on the show next season, and expect that some of the guys we know won’t make it to Season 3. During the recent Prison Break panel at the Paley Festival Scheuring said that one of the cast members that were sitting on stage with him won’t be around for Season 3. A little birdie told me who it is, and it’s a character I like so I’m kind of bummed about it. I won’t spill it here, but if you want to know put on your Veronica Mars cap and head over to E! online and search for the clues (and if you still need help email me).

During the panel we also learned that filming will continue in Dallas but will also venture out to Louisiana and Florida.

More Notes from the Prison Break Paley Fest Panel….
I just realized that I never shared my notes from the Prison Break panel at the Paley Festival. Sorry. It seems so long ago now, but here are a few memorable moments from that evening (before, during and after)

Rob Knepper (T-Bag) and Amauary Nolasco (Sucre) at the Prison Break panel at the Paley Festival Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln) at the Prison Break panel at the Paley Festival

– When you are in the lobby of your hotel and you look over to see T-Bag checking in, don’t be alarmed – he’s just an actor playing a role (and I found it helpful to remind myself of that over and over again – and I still checked the door about 5 times before I went to bed)

– Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note) is a very sweet guy. C-Note was also staying at my hotel, and we exchanged pleasantries in the hotel bar after the panel.

– Sarah Wayne Callies is adorable. They really play down Tequila Tancredi’s looks on the show. In person Sarah is glowing, and I don’t think it’s just from that baby bump she’s sporting these days. Her new short do is really cute, and damn…she is tall.

– As you know by now, Wentworth Miller did not attend the panel. Most didn’t know and were still waiting for his arrival in the lobby even after the lights went down to start the panel. I was heading in myself but first had to talk to my friend that I attended the event with who happened to be working in the press line. When I left the press area to head into the event I was swarmed by fans of the show asking where Wentworth was and why he wasn’t there yet. I think they thought I was associated with the show. I informed them that I didn’t think Wentworth was coming and 2 (grown) women started to cry. I like Wenty too, but come one now.

– Funniest moment of the night went to Amaury Nolasco (Sucre) when he accidentally swore on stage and then leaned over to Sarah’s lap and told her future baby not to use that kind of language. Sarah had to announce that she was pregnant because if you didn’t know you had to wonder why Amaury was seemingly talking to Sarah’s “lady parts”

– I got to ask a question. During the Q&A portion of the panel, I raised my hand and next thing you know I had the mic in hand and was asking Robert Knepper (T-Bag) a question. For those of you who were there, I was the one that asked him about his reaction to T-Bag being a fan favorite seeing that he’s a child rapist and murdered. The panel got a good laugh at the question, to which Robert responded that it’s really about the character development that starts with the writers.

– We watched the pilot episode of Prison Break, and I forgot how funny and snary the show once was. I think the writers should bring some more of the back. It really lightened the mood of an otherwise intense show.

– Back in Season 1 Sucre had a lot of dialogue in Spanish – if you were listening closely (and understand Spanish) you might know that Sucre let more than a few expletives slip in the conversation (a recurring theme with Nalasco I guess)

– The day before his audition for Prison Break, Dominic Purcell (Lincoln) got into a physical altercation with one of his co-stars on the show North Shore. Dom didn’t look too pleased when this was brought up during the panel by one of the Fox execs.

– Steven Spielberg was originally attached to the show, but had to pass when “War of the Worlds” came around.

– I didn’t get any pics with the cast. At the end of the panel the audience swarms the stage in hopes of getting pics and an autograph. I just wasn’t up for it. I really wanted a pic of T-Bag and I for my Christmas card (or at least to share with my friends Cip & Jo who is a big fan of the show)

the prison break paley fest was so different from the office one. i guess i had been spoiled. the cast, except dominic purcell, was very gracious about having pictures taken and giving autographs. purcell was kind of a dick. dude, you’re an actor- pretend you want to be at a fan event.
