Save One Show – Vote Now

March 26, 2007 by

Every year E! Online’s Kristin Veitch issues a call to TV fans everywhere to help save ONE show that’s on the verge of getting the ax. Believe it or not this award actually holds some clout in the TV world because it comes from the fans. I’m not sure anything is going to save Studio 60, but I’m sure as hell going to try.

Check out the shows that are ‘on the bubble’ as they say. You can vote more than once, which is a good thing because making me choose between Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, and How I Met Your Mother is just cruel. Take a look at the shows, and then click here to vote.

I’ve also included a list of current shows that have received the early pickup from their respective networks.

Here are the shows that WILL and WON’T be getting my vote:

SAVE THIS SHOW!!!

30 Rock – I hear it’s great & I plan on playing catch up this summer. So I’ll vote for all of you GMMRers who love it.

Friday Night Lights – If I could vote for ONE and only ONE show…this would be it (http://www.fightforlights.com)

Gilmore Girls – You know I love me some Lorelai and Rory, but the fate of the show lies with the actresses and not the fans

How I Met Your Mother – Say it ain’t so. HIMYM is one of my favorites and a world without Barney is just wrong. Vote!!!

Scrubs – This is a damn funny show. Sadly we live in a world where “Two and a Half Men” and “According to Jim” get better ratings than Scrubs, so the show needs all the help it can get.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The show is a bit of a mess, that much I’ll agree with. But I have faith that it can be turned around. I’m not willing to give up on it just yet. Hopefully NBC isn’t either.

Supernatural – I don’t watch this one, but Ducky does so I will vote once for him.

Veronica Mars
– College student, FBI agent, hooker with a raging drug habit – I don’t care HOW Veronica Mars comes back as long as she’s back next season (oh and with Dick and Logan in tow please)

Sorry, not interested in saving you

Listen, I’m sure the shows below are great, and if you are a fan then you should DEFINITELY vote for them. But we’ve talked about this before…I can’t possibly watch every show on TV and these just aren’t on my TiVo.

The Class
Close to Home
Crossing Jordan
Jericho
Medium
One Tree Hill
Six Degrees
What About Brian
The Nine – This one had potential, but it took too long to really get going. Sad to see you on this side of the list “The Nine”

Not in Danger

  • Desperate Housewives

I voted for 30 Rock! And, I will wear my “I’d go gay for Tina Fey shirt.” everyday until it is saved.

    Just kidding.

    Sorta

    😉

Is it wrong that I don’t want to vote for Scrubs so NBC could make The Office an hour long every week instead?

And yeah, S60 has its moments and Matthew Perry and Nate Corddry are great, but that show needs to die so I don’t have to feel dirty about watching television.

    Go 30 Rock!

  3. Jim Mosby on March 26th, 2007 12:14 pm

EVERYONE, please, please please vote to save How I Met Your Mother.

    kthxbye 🙂

  4. Mannie on March 26th, 2007 12:18 pm

I’m trying to decide if I want to live in a world where America’s Funniest Home Videos is renewed (for the 20th year), but not quality shows like VM, Scrubs, The Class and HIMYM.

  5. LT on March 26th, 2007 1:22 pm

Sorry but I’ve got to try and save Medium. It’s awesome. I’m like you, GMMR and feel like I’m watching too many shows right now but this is a GREAT show to catch up on in the summer. I admit Patricia Arquette is a little strange and I don’t believe in ghosts/spirits and all that, yet this show is really enertaining!

  6. Lauren Siuda on March 26th, 2007 2:00 pm

Medium is very crafty, Scrubs is brilliant, Studio 60 is fast and fun and The Nine was so different…..they all got my votes!!

  7. Sarah on March 26th, 2007 2:03 pm

Definitely How I Met Your Mother- I’ll be so upset if this show gets cancelled!

  8. Merrie on March 26th, 2007 2:06 pm

I voted for How I Met Your Mother. I am hopeful, but after reading that the bar set was already dismantled, I am preparing for the worst.

  9. mg714 on March 26th, 2007 2:07 pm

Yes – how can Friday Night Lights be in danger of not returning for a second season? I don’t know why more people aren’t watching this show. Reality shows get such big ratings, but to me those reality shows don’t even come anywhere close to real life and real human relationships and interactions the way FNL does.

I absolutely adore this show and would really be devestated if it didn’t come back next year. The last time I felt this way about a show was with Everwood last year, but at least Everwood had four years and was able to wrap up their storylines. FNL deserves time to grow and NBC needs to get its second chance to get the marketing for this show right, so people won’t continue to miss out on something really special.

  10. Jenintx on March 26th, 2007 2:11 pm

Blast! It only let me vote once.(maybe it’s once a day?) I can’t believe it’s this time of year already. It’s so stressful! (….or I’m overly invested, yeah, that could be it)

  11. Lee on March 26th, 2007 2:27 pm

Agree with all your saves, especially 30 Rock, Studio 60 & Friday Night Lights except for Gilmore Girls (yawn).

Have to say though, I’m still enjoying/enjoyed:

    The Class
    Jericho
    Medium
    Six Degrees
    What About Brian
    The Nine

Yeah, I watch far too much TV (ahem, from the UK!).

  12. Mannie on March 26th, 2007 2:28 pm

It only let me vote once as well last Friday and I couldn’t vote anymore until today, then it only let me vote once.

  13. marcy on March 26th, 2007 2:44 pm

FNL…for sure…and no Barney?…that’s just not the way to “Suit Up” CBS…seriously!!!

  14. Clare on March 26th, 2007 3:06 pm

hmmmm… that’s some list. Well, I’ve never watched HIMYM much but what I have seen looks pretty funny (hoping to catch up on DVD this summer) and it is near and dear to many of my TV pals so I’ll go cast a vote for them. Sounds like 30 Rock is already safe so that’s good news. 🙂 And I thought The Nine was already dunzo, might it come back?

  15. Angelica on March 26th, 2007 3:25 pm

30 Rock. All the way. It will be a sad, sad day if 30 Rock is cancelled. So, please watch 30 Rock!

  16. Jen on March 26th, 2007 4:21 pm

30 Rock For Sure! It is the only show on the list that seems to continually be getting better and better.

I would have picked Veronica Mars if the show’s banter was still as fresh as the first season’s was. I will continue to watch until the very end, as long as Miss Bell is involved….but Season 3 has really been crap. It has made me very sad to see such a great show get stale so fast. (I fear Grey’s is taking a similar turn…I truly hope not)

  17. Carly on March 26th, 2007 4:34 pm

    i voted 30rock.

  18. Bill on March 26th, 2007 4:46 pm

    Scrubs is the easy choice.
HIMYM and 30 Rock are good too. I don’t watch any of those dramas.

  19. Wendyd on March 26th, 2007 6:42 pm

God, so many of the shows I love are in danger of being cancelled. What the hell?!! I need to start voting!

  20. melissa albert on March 26th, 2007 7:16 pm

Hey, we are buzzing about GMMR’s story on shows on the bubble at MegaBuzz, where anyone can give an opinion and win points towards prizes and cash. Come, sign up, and make your case. Totally free. Totally fun.

I voted for 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin is a genius!

  21. Matt on March 26th, 2007 9:48 pm

It *has* to be Friday Night Lights. Please, I’m begging everyone to vote for this show. I’m a fan of 30 Rock, HIMYM & Scrubs, but they don’t even come close to the brilliance that is FNL.

Seriously, if you haven’t watched FNL this season you’ve missed out on the best drama of the year.

  22. mg714 on March 26th, 2007 10:20 pm

Since TWoP is still offline, I thought I’d share this here since there are some FNL fans here. I just went over to the NBC site for FNL and in big red letters it says “Final three episodes of this season!” I know there hasn’t been any official announcment yet, but this makes it really hopeful that we will have another season of FNL. It may not really mean anything, but I’m taking whatever I can until we know for sure!

  23. CFO (not my initials) on March 27th, 2007 12:58 am

I voted for Veronica Mars, 30 Rock, and Studio 60. I just kept hitting my “back” button & voting again… It didn’t say that was illegal… hope it works 😀

  24. Amy on March 27th, 2007 1:59 am

What the Hel? If TBD is in danger, I’d like to vote for it. 🙁

As of yet, VM has been getting any and all of my votes so far.

  25. Sus on March 27th, 2007 7:01 am

I’m going with The Class and Veronica Mars all the way. And if I had to choose just one, I’d go with The Class because I’m just not on board with VM without her pals.

  26. Greg on March 27th, 2007 8:21 am

You mean to tell me that crap like Las Vegas and The Bachelor gets picked up for another season, and we have to worry about shows like How I Met Your Mother, The Class, Scrubs and Friday Night Lights getting cancelled? What kind of world are we living in?

  27. Dewy Petals on March 27th, 2007 10:11 pm

I voted for 30 Rock because it really has become part of my Thursday nights.

  28. Emma on April 6th, 2007 8:04 am

    Veronica Mars!!!!

  29. Dr. Harvey Fodell on April 11th, 2007 5:49 pm

SNL is a work of art. It is realism at it’s best. Each character is so
    excellent, and into their work.
    Please spare this show

  30. john draper on April 14th, 2007 12:30 am

Friday Night Lights is simply one of the finest shows I’ve ever seen on television. I’ve never written in support (or in disdain) of a television show. I never really cared that much. But this is not like anything I’ve ever seen on television and, given its ever-deepening, page-turning novel-like pace, and the unavoidable attachments viewers form with nearly every character on the show, taking it off the air would be like being forced to evacuate from a community you love. It has been a terrible victim of superficial marketing in the early part of the season. If you’re just looking for football, you’ve come to the wrong place; it’s a place where women or men can fully appreciate the magic of this show about relationships, community and life. If you haven’t seen it, I’d still advise you vote to keep it around so you can catch up to it over the summer, and, if it survives, allowing it to give you something on TV to be truly excited about this fall. You can vote for it’s survival at:www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17486910/ and petition on its behalf at http://www.fightforlights.com.
