The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

Is anyone else really nervous about tonight? An episode of THE OFFICE shouldn’t have me popping Tums this early in the morning. But I’ve seen the promos and I’ve been reading all the spoilers (or foilers) that have been floating around this things called the world wide web, and I’m nervous, anxious and on the verge of being scared. Lord, beer me strength to make it to the finale. I trust the writers, I trust the writers – it’s been my mantra all season and I can’t give up on them yet.

IMPORTANT! Out of respect for spoiler-phobes, if you are going to leave a comment about tonight’s episode or any of the speculation/spoilers you’ve heard this week about the season finale of The Office, PLEASE make sure you start your comment with “SPOILER ALERT”. This way those who don’t want to know anything can just skip over your comments. I’m going to be monitoring the comment as best as I can but if you could do this for me it would be a big help.

You Know Your Stuff…
Last week we had a little Office trivia contest here on Give Me My Remote. I selected a winner at random from all the correct entries, and I’m happy to report that Jessica was the big winner. Jessica can choose anything from the GMMR store. Thanks to everyone for playing. The trivia contest got such a good response we might bring it back soon.

The Upfronts…
NBC logo Monday is the big day! That’s when we will find out whether or not NBC has decided to extend The Office to one hour each week. We will also find out if the show will remain at 8:30pm or move to the rumored 9pm timeslot. I was lucky enough to score an invite to NBC’s Upfronts presentation, so I will be there live when the news is announced. The second I can make my way to a computer I will be sure to share the scoop with all of you. It should be fun. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see the cast, and if I do I’ll send them your love 🙂

LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
The Office ChatWe are getting down to the wire. I hope you are all ready for what I am expecting to be a pretty lively Office chat tonight. You know the drill by now. We all meet up over at BuddyTV around 8pm and watch the show together. I hope you can make it. Bring a friend, all are welcome! Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.

Tonight on The Office…
The Office, Beach Games“Beach Games”Supersized (special time: 8:42pm ES)
Michael’s under consideration for a corporate position. To find his successor, he takes the team to the beach and puts them through a series of grueling games. It’s Survivor: Dunder-Mifflin — outwit, outplay, outlast.

I’ve watched the promos for tonight’s episode (oh about 50 times) and let me just say this – if the NBC promo monkeys are screwing with us I’m seriously going to kick some ass. You can’t toy with our emotions…not after everything we’ve been through since ‘Casino Night’. Here’s to hoping they aren’t just screwing with us – please.

From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer) on The OfficeKate Flannery is back and this week she gives us a little insight on what it was like to shoot tonight’s episode “Beach Games”. From the perils of being on location to working again with director Harold Ramis, we get a look behind the curtain. Kate also gives us the scoop on her recent trip to the Kentucky Derby – oh to be a celebrity. Leave Kate a comment – I know she reads them. (Kate’s Blog)

More Office Thursday after the jump…

Let’s Hear it for the Accountants…
Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez This week we get to hear what the Dunder Mifflin Accounting Department has to say about life outside of Dunder Mifflin, what we can expect from the season finale, news on office romances, and other projects they are working on these days. So check out these great interviews with Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, and Angela Kinsey.

The Office and Terrorism??…
Steve Carell and Jon StewartThe Office got a little shout out on THE DAILY SHOW last night. It was a small moment but very funny. At least we know that Jon Stewart is a JAM Shipper. If you missed it, you can watch the clip here. Anyone else hoping that Steve or Ed can find some time during their hiatus to make an appearance on their old stomping grounds? Yeah, I know…dream on.

Early Morning/Late Night Chit Chat…
The Cast of THE OFFICEWe’ve got some talk show appearances to tell you about. On the morning on Tuesday, May 15th the cast of The Office will be appearing on THE TODAY SHOW. I’m waiting on confirmation as to whether or not it will be a live or taped appearance. Since they are all in town for the Upfronts, I’m assuming it’s live. But before I get up at the crack of dawn to get down there I want to be sure. And later that night, Jenna Fischer will be the guest on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN. Expect her to be adorable and not tell us anything about the season finale…HA

Movie News & a Special Honor for John Krasinski…
John Krasinski in LeatherheadsThings have been relatively quiet on the JKras front these days. The filming of “Leatherheads” kept him from an appearance of his new movie “Shrek 3” (in theaters May 18th). But we can expect to see a lot more of John in the new few months with the premiere of “License to Wed” (in theaters July 4th). I’m hoping to catch a glimpse of my #1 TV boyfriend on Monday at the Upfronts. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. For now, check out this lankily (yes, it’s a new word) adorable pic of John as he waves hello to fans on the set of “Leatherheads”. Thanks to the ladies at PopSugar for this one.

John KrasinskiMr. Krasinski received a very special honor this week – one he should be extremely proud of. John was named to Pajiba’s 10 Sexiest People – The Celebrities You’d Most Like to Bang. Somewhere across on the other side of Newton, his mom is so proud. Yes, John is in good company as other celebs honored include Jon Stewart, Paul Rudd, Ryan Gosling and Nathan Fillion. Not bad company. JKras.

SPOILER ALERT – Two Endings for The Office…
Jenna Fischer and Rashida Jones Kristin Veitch is reporting that The Office has shot two endings. The version to air for the May 17th finale will supposedly be determined by whether of not Fox picks up Rashida Jones new show “The Rules of Starting Over”.  Kristin has also been told that in one of the versions of the finale, Jim and Pam are together…the other, well Karen is still around.  So let’s hear it – what do you think of the idea of two finales? Are you ready to see Jim and Karen make a solid go at their relationship or are you ready for Jim and Pam to finally be together.  Remember to put SPOILER ALERT before you comments.

Wow…scared? Yes, I’m terrified. The train-wreck potential for tonight is just huge. But I’m hoping beyond hope that it …say it with me now… It’s going to be OK 😉 . It just has to… that’s all I got.

Thanks for another great update 🙂 See you all tonight!

    *SPOILER ALERT*

does it piss anyone else off that the JAM storyline is hinging on Rashida’s pilot getting picked or not? i mean shouldn’t the writers know? don’t they realize that this season has been torture because of the lack of chemistry and interaction between the only 2 “normal” characters on the show? i’m not bitching because i want jim and pam to get together so badly, but because when i go back and watch season 2 and i see those two talking and laughing and having fun. i realize how much i miss sharing that part of the office. i understand that the show is built on cringe inducing humor, but the sweetness offset all that. i miss it…bring back old pam and jim please. just let rashida go, she was a nice distraction. a rebound, time to move on to the real thing.

  3. Melody on May 10th, 2007 12:59 pm

Is it awful that I’ve been refreshing this site all day waiting for “Office” Thursday? I have an addiction.

I got to meet Kate when she was in town for the Derby. She was incredibly nice! I give the details of my story in the most recent episode of the Office podcast I’m a part of – http://www.theofficealliance.com

  4. Kismet on May 10th, 2007 1:03 pm

It pisses me off too, Stephen, but I don’t buy it. I smell elaborate scheme.

At this point I choose to believe nothing until it airs on the show. Everything else is just smoke and mirrors!

  5. Elisabeth on May 10th, 2007 1:07 pm

According to a poster on the spoiler page at OT, Fox will announce its lineup 3 hours before the Office finale airs. The plot thickens.

  6. Elisabeth on May 10th, 2007 1:09 pm

For some reason I hear the Lost theme when I think of Beach Games.

  7. Angela on May 10th, 2007 1:10 pm

I agree with you GMMR…I just keep saying to myself over and over again that I trust the writers. That’s the only thing that’s been getting me through this season. I’m pretty excited for tonight! I’m sure things will go in a JAM direction 🙂

  8. Amy on May 10th, 2007 1:17 pm

Yes, I am so nervous for tonight…hold my virtual hand and we’ll make it through! I officially swore off spoilers on Tuesday for the rest of the season because they are making me too anxious and could be foilers anyway, and I have to remember it is “only” my favorite TV show. It is only 11:17am here in California, at 5:40pm I will be jealously thinking of you all on the East Coast!

  9. cam3150 on May 10th, 2007 1:18 pm

Yeah, GMMR, I am sooooo nervous!!! Everytime I think about tonight and the fact that we are mere hours away from….whatever is going to happen…..my stomach does a huge flip.

    SPOILER ALERT

Here’s my question: If FOX’s upfront announcement is not until NEXT Thursday (as per their website), then how can the ending be based on TRFSO getting picked up??? What, are the producers going to change endings just hours before if it doesn’t get picked? I don’t buy it for a minute.

Based on the latest preliminary lists, the chances don’t look good for it to be on the schedule. The Hollywood Reporter (not sure how reliable they are) doesn’t list it as a possibility and it also says there is a surprising lack of comedies on next season’s schedule.

I think Greg Daniels and everyone else is just blowing smoke, trying to throw everyone off the trail. I hope, I hope, I hope….

  10. Amber on May 10th, 2007 1:19 pm

Hey GMMR, how about a baby onesie in the GMMR Store sporting our son’s newest request: “Beer me my pacifier.”
I’d buy one for every day of the week. Ok, he can’t talk yet, but he’s communicating it all the same.
And scared? I’m not scared. My faith has always repaid me in the past, and will continue to do so with tonight’s episode.

  11. HealthcareHottie on May 10th, 2007 1:22 pm

Yes I’m nervous. There has to be a reason they have not leaked too much about this episode. I think this is the most elusive episode, spoiler wise, this season. I do think the NBC promo guys are messing with us, judging their past fake-outs. Even the preview clips are very obscure as to the plot lines. Although they were very funny clips.

    ***Spoiler Alert****

We’ve all been wondering when Meredith would bare her boobs again. haha

That JKras pic in the 3 piece suit did cheer me up a bit, so thanks. That Celebrity list he’s on is funny, but I have to say I did like all their pics, with the exception of Simon Pegg. That picture of him on the bowl was enough to turn anyone off. He can’t pull it off as well as Jennie McCarthy.

As for the finale, Office Tally has posted a US Weekly article saying that Karen will be sticking around for season 4 to the dismay of all us JAM fans. But like you I trust the writers and nothing is set in stone until next week. I’m hoping for the best.

  12. mg714 on May 10th, 2007 1:25 pm

GMMR – That’s great news that you got an invite to the NBC Upfronts. Definitely let the cast know how much we’re excited for next season. OT – I’m hopefull that FNL will be coming back, so if they are and you meet anyone from the cast or crew, definitely let them know also how thrilled their fans are at seeing them back for a second season.

As for tonight’s Office episode – I’m definitely anxious to see what happens. I’m out of town but heading home today and hope to be able to make it back in time to watch the show live and join you all on the chat. I think a lot is going to happen tonight and I definitely don’t want to miss it!

  13. King on May 10th, 2007 1:36 pm

    Hey GMMR,
Did you ever ask anyone from TO what was the question Pam’s mom asked her on the phone in CN? Like did she say, “I think you r confused.” Or did she say, “I think you r in love with Jim.” Or even, “The wedding’s paid for, so you better be happy withRoy”
Ask Greg on Monday. Okay? Have fun!

  14. Mosby on May 10th, 2007 1:43 pm

GMMR, Clare, Leeka and E….let’s all say it at once. “It’s going to be okaaayyyy.”

(Or as Eddie Murphey on SNL used to say….”Iz all dunna b otayyyyy”)

    😀

    another great T.O.T

  15. WilliamDoolittle on May 10th, 2007 1:55 pm

Yes, GMMR I’ve been stressing about this weeks The Office for some reason, the promo makes me so nervous for Pam! Eek!

    SPOILER ALERT

No way are they basing the season finale on Rashida Jones career, I just don’t believe it. I think people are just spreading around rumors for added extra hype. NBC could use it 🙂

  16. CrazyGringa on May 10th, 2007 2:03 pm

As Always, thank for feeding our addiction GMMR!

    ***Spoiler Alert***
I don’t think the double endings has anything to do with whether Jim dumps Karen or not. They wouldn’t base what happens to JAM on whether Rashida sticks around or not. I think they shot two endings because if the other show gets picked up then Rashida would probably have to be in corporate so she makes less or no appearances on the show…but she would still be split up from Jim…PLEASE let this be the case!!!

  17. sabrina on May 10th, 2007 3:01 pm

It feels good to know that I’m not the only one freaking out about this episode and the finale. I had my senior finals today and I could hardly concentrate! All I could think about it all the things that could possibly happen with Jim and Pam. I’m having my fingers crossed for this episode. Oh boy…

  18. cam3150 on May 10th, 2007 3:37 pm

This MIGHT calm everyone down a little:

    *** SPOILER ALERT ****

Brian B (Kevin) just posted this on his myspace blog:

“Yes. I said it here first. Tonight is the night. When everything is gonna be alright. THE OFFICE is back. Penultimate episode of season 3. It should be a goody. A good one. (That’s what she said.)”
Then for the finale he writes, “Then next THURSDAY. 1 HOUR. OFFICE finale. Amazing. I think you will be surprised by the end of the season. I really do. But if you don’t want, you won’t know what all the fuss is about. (I should be writing ads.)”

This calms me a little….anyone else??

  19. Beth on May 10th, 2007 3:48 pm

    *SPOILER ALERT*

I think its obvious enough that something great happens on tonight’s episode, but I’m sure its just a small baby step towards what we all want to happen.

Also, we’ve been told that Jan has some big news coming on the finale- instead of it being that she’s pregnant like everyone assumes, it could be that Karen got the job and is leaving. The show could still keep her around, let her and Jim attempt a long distance relationship, getting her out of the office so the JAM magic can come back. (that is my wishful thinking). I just don’t see the writers letting Jim and Pam get together so easily, they are gonna make them work real hard for it.

  20. Jake on May 10th, 2007 4:04 pm

    *Spoiler Stuff*

CrazyGringa, I agree. I think the 2 endings have to do less with the storyline and more with how much Rashida they can use next year. If Rashida’s show is picked up, they’ll need to bring a quick end to her story arc. If it isn’t, they can draw out her and Jim’s eventual breakup.

Also, though Fox’s upfront isn’t until Thursday, they’ll most likely have it settled early in the week. So, insiders will know long before the finale airs whether Rashida’s show is picked up or not.

  21. Jo on May 10th, 2007 4:09 pm

    *Spoiler stuff*
I just have to throw this out there for thought. Remember how the ending of Friends was such a big to do that everyone freaked about it being leaked and the producers said they filmed multiple endings as a protection? And it turns out that was a BIG FAT LIE. they only filmed one and the rumors were just to keep it all hush hush?

That’s what I think this Rashida stuff is. Love her, wouldn’t even mind her staying with JAM in full bloom. Good awkward times ahead. It’ll all be okay.

  22. TheNextKristin on May 10th, 2007 4:14 pm

Our girl is going to the upfronts!!! eeeeee!

  23. Mary on May 10th, 2007 6:25 pm

    Happy Office Thursday everyone :

I know that on the east coast, The Office is in a hour, and I am so excited for my EDT friends. I am in Oregon, so I must wait for my faithful DVR to record.

    SPOILER ALERT

I think the article in US magazine was taken far too seriously, and I think that Greg Daniels either a) made up the quote or b) US made it up. I equate US to Star and the Enquirer. And didn’t we have fake “leaks” in the NY Times last year, that were soooo false? I think it is going to be a great episdoe tonight, but I think the promos are misleading us. I mean, I was all excited about Phyllis’s wedding, and then Pam goes off with Roy. So, hopefully she doesn’t go off with Andy or something weird like that. 🙂 the ainbowray onnectioncay.

We all need to breathe. We just need to breathe…..

  24. Jen on May 10th, 2007 6:39 pm

That was an awesome video of the week!

I am waiting in agony for next week. I feel as though, I don’t want Jim and Pam to get together, yet, the show would then loose it’s spark, and I’d hate that, especially if it were to be an hour. I want the friendship to return first, since I think we’re totally lacking in that department most of the time.

  25. Angelica on May 10th, 2007 7:32 pm

    Ummm…What Mosby said 🙂
