mike- i don’t know about you but one of the most comforting things in bad situations is the fact that your not alone, as humans we’re not meant to go through things by ourselves, for i think thats a great statement to tell those kids. The last thing they need is to hear someone telling them to feel sorry for themselves!

anyway- i agree kinda with the fact that they are being paid to anticipate her needs, but there’s a difference between being rude and disrespectful and asking for things nicely.

The last remaining delicate thin thread of respect that may have existed deep inside for this unoriginal thoughtless “entertainer” has now been burned. She needs a reality check.

I saw here on TV yesterday talking to some foster kids who were really upset about the situation and what were her words of comfort? “You’re not alone. Doesn’t that make you feel better that you’re not alone?” Paula…let’s say that your house burned down and you lost everything. So did all of your neighbors. You’re not alone, right? So you’re OK with it, right? Get real…and quit repeating everything Randy or Simon says on American Idol. Get an original thought. And grow a backbone while you’re at it. Not everyone who performs on that show is great. You HAVE to know this.

Ya know, I read the comments before watching the clip and thought “no way…Paula is probably horrible to them,” but I see her point after watching that. If I was paying a personal assistant thousands and thousands of dollars a day and told her to pack me sweat pants for a flight and she didn’t, I’d probably be a little peeved. Especially because I never fly in anything but sweatpants…lol.

Yeah, I agree she wasn’t that bad. I mean, she wasn’t screaming or cursing uncontrollably, which is what I expected after reading about it. Also, did she say she has repeatedly asked that her sweats be ready? If so, then why weren’t they ready? (I know she’s capable of dressing herself, but if that’s what the assistants are paid to do…) I don’t see why she even tried the pants on and made herself more frustrated. She should have just asked someone to pull the sweats out of the suitcase (again, she could do it herself but that seems to be part of the job description of a Paula assistant).

Actually, I’m NOT a hollywood assistant But I do think Paula wasn’t that wrong. I didn’t get everything she said because she was kind of mumbling. But I mean, those people get PAID to think about stuff like that, it’s their freakin’ JOB. And I don’t know how long these assistants have been with her but shouldn’t they kind of know those things? I don’t really get what the big deal is because I hardly ever have to travel and I don’t really care how stressful Paula’s job is. But if you get paid to do a job, either you do it right or (as Beckylooo already mentioned) someone else is gonna be there to do it for you… That’s how business works…

I’ve been a hollywood assistant for the better part of 7 years. I’ve worked for asshole screamers and darling mensches and while I think Paula’s a looney tune, that was NOTHING. In fact, she was right. And she was almost nice about it. The job BLOWS. You’re a baby sitter for adults. It’s demeaning and stressful but you take the job knowing what you’re getting into. Part of the gig is anticipating your boss’s every need and any assistant worth their salt, working for a high maintenance, female personality would have had two to three options for the plane, ready to go. As a former boss used to say, “You don’t like it? Bring me the resume file.” There’s a line of folks the length of the 10 fwy ready and willing to do your job for less money.

There’s an old vaudeville joke that goes thusly: A kid goes to the circus. He wanders around the animal pens and finds an old man in tears. He asks him what’s wrong. The man launches into a litany of his sorrow, “They treat me horribly. Pay me nothing and all I do all day is shovel elephant shit!” So the kid says, “Why don’t you quit?” The old man looks at him, horrified and says, “What, and leave show business!?”

that was bad but not like as terrible as i thought it would be. don’t get me wrong she shouldnt treat people like that but at least she wasnt screaming and freaking out … she talked in a calm voice even if it was condescending and rude. at least she didnt like scream her head off and fire them or whatever.

you know, I pick out MY OWN outfits for flights and I’ve never once gotten the wrong one! I know Paula is busy and everything, but geez, she can’t throw an outfit in a bag? especially if it is so CRITICAL to her succesful trip?
