BROTHERS & SISTERS Spoiler Mystery

Brothers & Sisters Cast

You know I love me some BROTHERS & SISTERS.  TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello has two spoilers for the ABC drama that have me concerned.

First up, just how close are the Walker children? If you watch the show then you can’t deny that there was some chemistry between Justin Walker (Dave Annable) and his half sister Rebecca (Emily VanCamp). For the first few episodes I kept forgetting that they were siblings as their time getting acquainted could easily have been mistaken for flirting.  But are the writers thinking about going there…ew?!

According to Ausiello, his sources tell him that there is a huge story coming up this season involving Rebecca and Justin. He goes on to say that “I hear producers are well aware that there is palpable chemistry between Emily VanCamp and David Annable. Them’s the dots. Get busy connecting ’em.”

Ew with a double side of ew.

In other B&S news, it seems that a series regular that once was, isn’t anymore.  And no it’s not Annable’s Justin, whose on-screen just left for his second tour of duty in Iraq.  Ausiello tells us that it is a guy. Who could it be?

Was Tom Skerrit a series regular during the first season?  If so, I’m wondering if it’s him. I’m personally hoping that Joe (John Pyper-Ferguson) is leaving for good. Nothing personal, but I think that Joe’s character is a bit expendable.  I’d actually love to see Sarah Walker get divorced and enter back into the dating pool. She’s sassy.

Help me…any guesses?

Is Wednesday becoming the new Thursday?  There’s some seriously good TV on tonight.  As much as I’m looking forward to RESCUE ME and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, I’m actually counting the minutes until I can watch Michael Moore on THE DAILY SHOW.  Michael Moore is an obnoxious, arrogant, self-centered blowhard…whose work I admire.

    MeeVee RecommendsRescue Me
Tommy encounters Colleen’s boyfriend and sparks fly; Jerry learns he flunked his physical and is given a desk job; Uncle Teddy, hiding from Ellie, breaks into prison guard Lenny’s apartment.

So You Think You Can DanceSo You Think You Can Dance
The 16 remaining hopefuls strut their stuff in hopes of advancing. Will this be Cedric’s last week or will he step up? And who will earn a Mary Murphy scream? Debbie Allen is a guest judge.

    MeeVee RecommendsTop Chef
The remaining culinary contingent works with Miami’s fresh seafood and attempts to serve savory fare to Elks Club members. Chef Alfred Portale is the guest judge.

    MeeVee RecommendsLast Comic Standing
The global star search for comedic talent continues in London and Minneapolis. This should be interesting…US and UK humor differ just a tad.  Hell they even spell humour differently.

    Traveler
Tyler and Jay attempt to uncover financial connections to the bombing, and Will seeks revenge for a murder. Meanwhile, the FBI learns that one of its own may be part of the conspiracy.

I’ve been teasing all week that Ducky and I would be getting together to podcast.  It keeps getting put off, but tonight’s the night. I’m sitting here in the oven that is my apartment trying to gather up the energy to vacuum before Dan’s arrival.  It’s so frakkin’ hot here, I just can’t take it.  Damn I’m whiny!!

Anyway, we’re going to be podcast in about an hour or so, so now’s your chance to ask us any questions or share any feedback that could make it into tonight’s recording.  And if you have any suggestions as to what we you’d like us to chat about, leave a comment and let us know.

    Age of Love Spoilers

Update: August 6, 2007: Did Mark choose Amanda or Jen in the season finale of AGE OF LOVE (click to find out)

Ok, this is my last posting for AGE OF LOVE today…I think. But I came across these spoilers and I thought I would share them since so many GMMRers seem to be loving this show like I am.

ESPN’s Sam Alipour was on set for a recent taping of NBC’s summer reality hit AGE OF LOVE. While he was there, the bachelor – played this time around by Mark Philippoussis – had to narrow his choices from four women to three. Or so he thought. Here are a few spoilerish details from the episode that will air just prior to the season finale. Got any guesses on which kittens or cougars make it to the end.

    • In the final four women there are two kittens and two cougars.
    • One of the two remaining cougars is described as someone that could pass for Angelina Jolie’s older sister. (I’m thinking 48 year old Jennifer)
    • Mark met the son of one of the cougars and they were both about the same age. (Again, I think it’s Jennifer)
    • One of the final two cougars wants to remove herself from the show telling Mark, “There’s so much of you I love, but I think you’re spoiled.” before telling him she’s bothered by his failure to “open up,” to ask questions about her and to show he cares. Here’s more of their conversation as told by Alipour:

“I’m only 30 years old,” Philippoussis reminds Gold Cougar. “But I’m learning every day.”
    Ace! Advantage, Philippoussis.
“I’m in my 40s,” replies Gold Cougar, “and I don’t have tomorrow.”
    Forehand winner! Deuce.
“You don’t know what we want,” she continues, “what we need.”
    Overhead smash! Advantage, Cougar.
“If I knew what women want, I wouldn’t be on this show!”
Backhand winner down the sideline! Deuce! Yes! But, wait … will the chair umpire overrule …?

AGE OF LOVE Recap: Cougars Meet the Kittens

    June 26, 2007 by

    Episode: Two
    Original Air Date: 06.25.07
    GMMR Recapper: SB

Oh, Age of Love. As Michelle Branch would say, you’re everywhere to me. I headed out to movies this past weekend to see Oceans 13, and during the movie, Matt Damon referred to Ellen Barkin as, oh yes, a cougar. And you know what? Ellen Barkin IS a cougar. Her hair, her perfect boobs, those smoldering looks … everything about Ellen Barkin just screams “sex”. This got me thinking about other women that I might consider cougars. I really couldn’t come up with many, mainly just Kim Cattrall on Sex and the City (there’s two references in two recaps—could someone possibly be obsessed with reruns on The CW?). I thought of all the hot older women in show business, but even they don’t qualify—you know, the Susan Sarandons and Goldie Hawns. They’re just lacking that certain cougar quality, like they’re just too nice and approachable or something. Ellen Barkin, on the other hand, is a goddess among women. So take note, 40-year-olds on this show—I might continue to call you cougars, but you are NOT cougars.

Alright. On with the recap. We get to see Mark’s first genuine smile of the series when the Kittens are introduced. We also get to see a person that will later be identified as Lauren, holding her arm up over her head and exposing a very hairy armpit. I mean, come on. You knew you were going to be on TV! Either shave that thing or put your arm down. This isn’t the hippie commune. Heck, this isn’t even France. Keep it in the circus and spare the rest of us. (Ummm … I am a little obsessive about armpit shaving. In case it didn’t show.) Read more

    Random Thoughts by GMMR

Give Me My Remote It’s only two episodes in but I have an unhealthy obsession with AGE OF LOVE. I think next week I’m going to go to my friend Steph’s house and watch it with her, because I need to be able to rip apart these women among friends. I can’t wait SB’s recap later today just so I can relive the glory of last night’s show. Oh and no one bothered to tell Tessa that fake boobs that big look horrible?!

Give Me My Remote I spent over an hour last night watching Rosie O’Donnell’s mini video blogs on her website. She annoys me some times but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to booze it up with her some night. I think she’s be funny as all get out.

Give Me My Remote Anyone else secretly awaiting the GREY’S ANATOMY E! True Hollywood Story? Talk about a dysfunctional cast! So according to Isaiah Washington, T.R. Knight was trying to get both Washington and Patrick Dempsey off the show so he could be the star? I’m having a hard time getting my head around this one. TR Knight, who before Grey’s was a relatively unknown stage actor, suddenly became this diva who thinks that getting rid of the two lead actors is better for the show’s success? I’m not upset that Patrick Dempsey is remaining reticent on this matter, but I’d love to sit down with him and get the whole story.

Give Me My Remote I woke up at 6:02 AM this morning, sat up and bed and my very first thought of the day was ‘YAY! I can watch SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE tonight’. Then I realized it was only Tuesday, got very sad and went back to bed until 7 AM. Sad but true.

Give Me My Remote NBC’s new hot shot Ben Silverman may have brought me THE OFFICE, but if he messes with FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS we are going to throw down. He’s already pulled the Sunday night reruns from NBC. They best be back this summer to get newbies on board or…you know what, I’m not going to tell you what I’m going to do, I’ll let Benny sweat it out.

Give Me My Remote SIMPLE LIFE star, Paris Hilton, is out of jail. I have zero confidence that she will follow through on all this ‘i-have-found-god-i-am-a-changed-woman’ BS. But can you imagine if she actually did? What if Paris started to use the spotlight for good rather than evil? I think it would break my brain. Good thing I don’t have to worry about that really happening.

Give Me My Remote I want to hug Kelly Clarkson and tell her everything is going to be ok.

Give Me My Remote Is there any truth to the rumor that PRISON BREAK star Wentworth Miller is dating former BROTHERS & SISTER’s star Luke MacFarlane or is everyone believing it just because Perez Hilton said so? Lemmings. I have no idea if it’s true or not, but it would make sense – God don’t make straight men that hot.

Give Me My Remote Not as much a random thought as an FYI, but I’m going to be trying out some new advertising this summer. I’m not trying to be greedy, but I get invited to so many fun events that I’d like to cover for GMMR, but I have to turn down so many because flying out to LA every month just isn’t in my budget. If you really hate the new advertising yo can let me know.

    …anything on your mind today?

    Steve Carell on Kiss 108

Comments Off on Steve Carell on Kiss 108

    Steve Carell

Here’s a funny little midday ditty for ya. My friend Deb told me this story on Saturday and I thought it was funny so I thought I’d pass it along. Here in Boston, the big Top 40 radio station is Kiss 108 FM. Last week during the morning drive show, the host Matt Segal was (in jest) ripping into Steve Carell for being too big of a star to call into his hometown station. Carell, being from the area, was a frequent guest of Matty in his early years but on this latest press tour, Carell’s publicist denied Kiss 108 an interview. Ouch!

Lo and behold, Steve Carell’s brother-in-law was listening to the radio when they were mocking Steve. As soon as Steve heard he called the radio station directly himself. He actually called the request line because he didn’t know how else to get through. What a guy! Matt had already left for the day, but his sidekick Billy Costa conducted the interview. If you can deal with Billy being obnoxious, it’s a quick and funny listen. Part 1 | Part 2

AGE OF LOVE’s Bachelor Likes ’em Young

    June 25, 2007 by

AGE OF LOVE, Mark PhilippoussisTalk about guilty pleasure. After just one episode I’m already hooked on NBC’s AGE OF LOVE. It’s got everything a good (and by good I mean trashy) reality show should have. A hot guy, catty woman, really bad faux boobs and drama, drama, drama. Tonight the “cougars” and Mark are meeting “the kittens” and we can expect a few catfights.

In the first episode, it was clear that AGE OF LOVE bachelor, Mark Philippoussis, considered the idea of dating a woman in her 40’s was a fate worse than death. Granted all the cougars look like they were castoffs from “Real Housewives of Orange County” (aka fake, orange, and desperate to appear much, much younger than they are) so I’m not sure you can blame him. But do the cougars even stand a chance given Mark’s predilection for the young ladies?

Philippoussis has a track record for young love that’s not only creepy but borderline illegal. The tennis pro, who has been linked with Paris, Tara Reid and Anna Kournikova, was actually engaged…to an 18 year old…when he was 28. Ew. When Mark started dating his former fiance, Alexis Barbara, she was still in high school. And according to BuddyTV, just a year before Mark started dating Alexis, he was involved in relationship with Austrailian singer Delta Goodrem, who was just 19 while was Mark 27.

So why would the producers go with a guy that has such an obvious “taste” for younger women? The creator of the show told me personally that “they were lucky to find someone so open to being in love as Mark”. Hmmm. It all seems a little suspect to me, but I’ll still be watching, so they obviously know what they’re doing.

If you missed last week’s premiere episode, read SB’s AGE OF LOVE recap here.

    Ask GMMR: Q&A

Last month I decided that it might me fun for me to answer questions from GMMR readers. I was really flattered to get so many questions. I thought I would answer a handful this morning. From time to time I’ll reopen the mailbag, so keep the questions coming. Click ASK GMMR to leave me your feedback on the site, ask questions, etc.

Alica (MySpace): Actually I would love to know who your favorite person has been to meet/interview/whatever? Who made such an impresion on you that your experience with them will last a lifetime?

GMMR: Alicia, I’ve been so lucky to meet so many fun TV people. I don’t think I could pick a favorite. As far as someone that has made an impression on me? Well, first let me say that although I’ve met a fair amount of TV stars, it’s not like I really know any of them. But for someone that made a big impression I’m going to go with Steve Carell. Here’s this guy who is a huge movie star and he was so nice and so down to earth and from my brief interaction with him I got the sense that he doesn’t take anything for granted. Again, I don’t know him personally but from the times I’ve met him I’ve been in awe.

Angela: Where did you come up with the idea of having a website totally devoted to TV? What is your favorite show? Thanks for doing this!
GMMR: Thank YOU Angela. A very good friend of mine has a gossip blog called FatbackandCollards.com. He’s the one that got me into this crazy world of blogging, and for that I’m forever in his debt. I started off with a celeb gossip blog, and I realized that I was happiest when I was writing about TV. So I decided to just do a blog focused just on TV and it’s brought me nothing but good things. As for my favorite show? Not sure if you mean on TV now or favorite show of all time (so I’ll give you both answers). Dawson’s Creek (before they went to college) will always be special 🙂 And nowadays it’s The Office (duh) and Friday Night Lights.
