THE OFFICE Thursday on Give Me My Remote

October 11, 2007 by

A girl can really get used to this whole new episode of THE OFFICE every Thursday thing. After a summer without, I feel almost spoiled. Counting down the hours go a bit easier when I can talk about my favorite show with all of you, so let’s get to it.

Tonight on THE OFFICE….
Launch Party - The Office“Launch Party” | 9pm on NBC
Michael gleefully anticipates attending the company’s Web-site launch party in New York. Meanwhile, Angela arranges a bash in Scranton, while tight Dwight gets wrapped up in a real paper chase: He tries to sell more paper than the Web site. (Promos at OfficeTally.com)

From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
In this week’s TV Guide blog, Kate Flannery gives us a little scoop on just how plastered she got for tonight’s episodes and fills us in on why she’s so excited to attend The Office Convention in Scranton later this month. Read Kate’s updates for all the latest news, but be warned, there are a few spoilers for tonight’s episode. Leave her a comment – I know she reads them all. (Kate’s Blog)

LIVE Office Chat Tonight…
Looking forward to watching The Office with some of you tonight. If you’re around and want to watch The Office along with us, stop by the GMMR/Buddy TV LIVE Office chat tonight beginning at 8:30pm EST. Newbies are welcome! Go ahead and set a reminder so you don’t forget. (GMMR’s The Office/TVj sessions)

The Office Convention…
The Office Convention Tickets are still on sale for The first (and what we hope to be annual) Office Convention. The convention takes place October 26-28th in Scranton, PA. Cast members scheduled to attend are: Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Mindy Kaling, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton, Kate Flannery, Leslie David Baker, Melora Hardin, Andy Buckley, Bobby Rae Shafer & Phyllis Smith. The weekend will be an Office lovers dream. I can’t wait to read all about everyone’s adventures and see all the pics when you get back. Which begs the question…are any GMMR readers attending? I wish I could but I have a wedding that weekend. Maybe next year. (The Office Convention Website)

Dunder Mifflin Infinity…
dmi.jpg Fingers crossed that Ryan Howard and the folks over at Dunder Mifflin Infinity Corporate finally got the kinks worked out. My Andy Bernard-esque freakout last week about DMI came after the site broke my brain. Things seem to me working a little bit better this week so let’s hope for continued success. I’m eager to get the game underway. Regardless of the technical issues, it’s been fantastic to meet so many new Office fans over at the DM-Chicopee branch. I hope you all are having fun with your branches as well.

Name That Episode…
Just how well do you know THE OFFICE? Here are a few episode descriptions with some key words missing. Can you tell which eps we are talking about? (The blanks can be more than one word).  Just name the episode!!

  • When Corporate wants Michael to pick a ______ for his employees, rather than lose popularity points with his staff, he shirks the responsibility and Dwight happily accepts the task. How many 4 year olds do you know that can name all the Office cast members? I just had to share this video of my niece Emma giving it a try.

Love Office Thursdays! Will definitely be stopping by the chat again tonight. I’m looking forward to seeing some more of Ed Helms (at least that’s what it seems from the promos) – that’s always a good thing!

Here are my answers to those episode descriptions:
    1) Health Care
    2) The Injury
    3) The Coup
    4) The Secret

I’m unfortunately not going to make it to the Convention – it sounds like it will be great and I especially wish I could go to the panel with Greg and the writers, as well as meet some of the cast! Hope everyone who’s going will have a great time – bring back lots of stories!

And GMMR – that video of your niece is adorable! She’s so smart for being an Office fan! 😉

Wait to start ’em young Kath. haha.

When Corporate wants Michael to pick a _health care plan_ for his employees, rather than lose popularity points with his staff, he shirks the responsibility and Dwight happily accepts the task. Delighted with his new position of power, Dwight takes over _the conference room_ as his _temporary work space_ and manages to offend everyone by asking staff members to _identify their personal ailments_. Jim and Pam _decide to make up fake illnesse_ only to infuriate Dwight.

Michael demands attention from the entire Dunder Mifflin office after he (_cooks his foot_) with his (_George Foreman Grill_) and Dwight begins behaving strangely following (_his crash into the pole hurrying to rescue Michael_.)

After Jan busts Michael for (_starting Movie Mondays_) where everyone (_watches movies_) instead of working, an upset Angela pushes Dwight into (_vying for Michael’s job_). Meanwhile, Pam (_buys new clothes over the internet_) and has a (_fashion show_) at lunch and Jim plays (_Call Of Duty_) and gets killed (_by Karen_) in (_one of the most annoying Karen/Jim scenes ever because she is simply not Pam_).

Jim is worried Michael is going to tell others that (_he has a crush on Pam_) so he has to go along with (_Michael to a lunch at Hooters_), which includes a (_complimentary shimmy by the girls at Hooters to celebrate Jim’s “birthday”_).

    Fun!!!

    Health Care
    The Injury
    The Coup
    The Secret

    And so cute – Emma!

I wish I was able to go to the convention – but alas, have classes.

  7. Zenah on October 11th, 2007 12:47 pm

I realise that we’re only meant to name the episode, but it was too good to pass up. There’s fun stuff you can put in there!
By the way, the episodes are:
    Health Care
The Injury (funniest episode, hands down!)
    The Coup
    The Secret

  8. Phyllis Vance on October 11th, 2007 1:33 pm

Oh, that was easy! Health Care, The Injury, The Coup, The Secret. I didn’t even have to read all of them the whole way through 🙂

I really wish I could go to the Convention. If it had been just one week over it would have been during my week off from school and my parents and I could have just stopped there on the way back to school, since Scranton is right on the way to my college. It would have been so convenient! Maybe if it gets moved a week ahead I’ll make it next year…

  9. Phyllis Vance on October 11th, 2007 1:37 pm

And by over, I mean earlier. Midterms have officially killed all my brain cells.

  10. CrazyGringa on October 11th, 2007 1:45 pm

GMMR, your neice is so adorable! My little neices just got video iPods and the first thing they did was call me and ask me to put The Office on it. They are in 2nd and 3rd grades and know episode titles and have favorite episodes and can quote stuff. Isn’t that great?! I taught them well.

I am so excited for tonight! I wish I was going to the convention but am saving up for my bf’s wedding that we have to travel to in the beginning of Nov. Anyone going to the writer’s panel, puhlease report back!

    Here go my guesses:
    1)Health Care
    2)The Injury
    3)The Coup
    4)The Secret

    I love these Office games!

  11. HealthcareHottie on October 11th, 2007 4:03 pm

Yeah Office Thursday. It’s so exciting to have new episodes. This will be the first one I can watch live so I’ll see you all on the Buddy Chat tonight.

Everyone else beat me to the answers. My guesses were the same as everyone else.

Kath – your neice is adorable. 4 is such a great age.

I came across this link on msn.com today. It seems our friend Daryl from the warehouse is moonlighting as a drivers ed teacher. Check out these hilarious clips starring Craig Robinson:

    Enjoy!

  12. Brian on October 11th, 2007 4:14 pm

Dang, that’s one cute kid. She’s been doing her homework too.

I wish I had the Benjamins for a trip to Scranton. Maybe next year. And maybe next year Jenna, John and Steve will be there.

As usual, it’s a sweet sight seeing “Office Thursday on GMMR”.

  13. Jaime on October 11th, 2007 4:52 pm

Health Care, The Injury, The Coup, The Secret

    Some of my favorite episodes.

    Your niece is so adorable!

  14. lnfitz on October 11th, 2007 5:11 pm

    I love Office Thursdays!

Your niece is soooo cute. And has fabulous taste as well 😉

  15. Becky on October 11th, 2007 5:54 pm

Your niece is adorable. My son is four years old and when he sees one of them (like Rainn Wilson on The Last Mimzy) he’ll say Mama-that’s the guy from the Office.

He knows em when he sees em, but he doesn’t really like watching the show. (more into superheroes and whatnot).

  16. MN Fan on October 11th, 2007 7:40 pm

Yes, I am going to the Office Convention! I debated before purchasing my Corporate Pass. . . considering the associated expenses, not knowing exact details of what to expect, and the potential ridicule from friends and family upon hearing that a sane, 30-something woman is going to a convention about a television show! But in the end, I figured that I’ll likely have a great time, so “screw it!” – it will all be worthwhile! 🙂

Once back, I’ll make sure to provide some (hopefully fun) details!

GMMR! have you seen all The Office stuff in the Target dollar section? theres a ton of stuff but what made me think of you were the note pads and mousepads that say I
