Star Wars TV Series

The Force may soon be coming to a television near you. George Lucas said Tuesday he is planning a live-action television series spinoff of the “Star Wars” film franchise.

Lucas told The Los Angeles Times he has “just begun work” on the series, which will not include the films’ major characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. “The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor characters,” Lucas told the Times. Lucas wouldn’t reveal details, but joked that the series would be about “the life of robots.”
Lucas already has another television series in the works. Lucas Animation has been working for months on the computer-animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” (Source: Variety)

So GMMRers, would you be up for watching a Stars Wars series weekly on TV? I imagine this will be a big hit with the fanboys, but for me to watch it’s going to have to have some really depth to the stories. I mean at the first sight of Jar Jar Binx I’m out.

You know I adore Star Wars, so if it’s on network TV (since I have the cheapest cable known to man), I’ll have to at least give it a chance.

I have to agree with you about Jar Jar Binx, probably the most annoying character ever created. But on the whole, I’ve been a fan of Star Wars since I was a kid and thanks to the prequals, my son now shares my adoration, so it might be a show we can watch together and I would certainly be up for that.

When I was back in high school, I read this Star Wars book series called “X-Wing” (which also provided basis for some video games, I do believe), about a squadron of pilots led by Wedge Antilles. I always thought that would make a great TV series.
The only request I have is for Lucas to PLEASE get someone else to write the dialogue, especially during any romantic scenes.

Given the production values Lucas can bring to a TV show I would definitly give it a chance. And I do love Star Wars

And at least with Lucas funding a lot of it, the networks probably wouldn’t be as quick to cancel it before it gets it’s footing.
