The deleted scenes, especially clip 2, had me rolling too.

I agree. The weird feeling has come over me too but I wish there was more Karen in the episode. I loved when she said “oh yeah, deffinately beat the traffic” and poor Jim.

This was a bad episode for Jim. I mean, you kind of feel bad for the guy.

Loved the Jim/Karen scene. It was so awkward, but great. During it, my fiance turned to me and said, “How good is his acting?” He thought JKras did an awesome job with that scene.

They did the same thing in last season’s finale with Jim and Karen in the car ride to NY. I know it was prob meant to underscore the lack of chemistry btwn them, but c’mon. I don’t really see Jim as being that into a girl – enough to date her that long and have her move from CT to PA – when there’s actually nothing of interest in their conversation and it’s lame at best.

I also really loved Karen and Jim’s meeting. Not because it was pleasant to watch, but because it reminds me so much of my first meetings with my ex. The bitter sarcasm, the awkward looks, the underlying hostility. It was so real, and yea, I think Jim deserved it, and yea, I think Karen deserved what she got for staying with him in the first place (but that’s a different topic for a different time). The scene was amazing! I have never seen such a wide range of Jim in one episode.

I did miss Kelly, but I miss her in every episode she doesn’t have a big role in. Other than that, there were certainly lots of images that made me giggle (ex. Dwight and the soda can)

Solid episode all around

I have to wonder … what was Karen expecting from Jim when she asked him to stay behind? She knows he and Pam are dating. I think she just wanted to let Jim have it, and maybe now that she’s said what she thinks, she can get over it.

I hope she comes back in future episodes, if only for the closure.

Karen…..is…..kind of a bitch. Wow, bitter much? She already knew that Jim still had feelings for Pam (the Return) and I don’t care how much you talk, you are probably not going to turn off being in love with someone for 2 and half years, especially if there is any hope.

Overall, I thought it was very funny.

I was also not a fan of the Finer Things Club (although I do love EM Forster). Way too pretentious, but a nice showcase of Toby’s still-desperate longing for Pam. The deleted scene was great, especially Angela’s disdain for the weight-loss support group. Love her.

And as far as all of the over the top antics going on, I feel like that is what makes The Office great. They take normal things about being in the office and relationships and mix it with over the top storylines. Remember when Dwight got a concussion and then his personality changed? Totally unrealistic, but one of the best episodes (in my opinion). Last night they had the awkward reunion of Jim and Karen (totally believeable) mixed in with disguises and a prank resulting in a broken copier. I feel like when they balance the storylines like that, they come up with the funniest episodes.

I thought overall a great episode, but I would have loved to see more Andy Bernard. The Finer Things Club was MADE for Andy Bernard’s posturing, Ivy-league attitude, and I would have liked to see more of his “application” process. There’s a deleted scene up on NBC.com that would have been great in the episode.

And while Jim didn’t handle the break-up well and Karen is entitled to be hurt, she obviously still hadn’t comprehended the depth of the Jim/Pam relationship. Telling Jim that if he wanted to see her, he could have just called, as if this whole prank was his desperate, immature way of getting in touch with her. Get over yourself, Filipelli.

So many laugh out loud moments in this episode! And JK’s best performance since Drug Testing. I, for one, am grateful that the characters and show are evolving. It would be boring if it was the same every week, if there was no growth of the characters. Just my two little cents.

i could definitely feel the heat last night during karen and jim’s interaction, and i do miss karen and her sassy self. i didn’t like jim and karen together, but karen and jim apart and bitter/PETRIFIED is awesome. i loved how frightened he was of her. (rightly so.) sweet.

Sorry, that’s about all i can contribute at the moment. It’s interesting to see how this ep (as all the other S4 ones) has really polarised the audience. Everyone here seems happy enough, but Office Tally is split!

When Pam made the comment about someone not wanting him to join the FTC because of his jokes, I thought for a moment that it might be her.

In particular, the exchange between Jim and Karen was painful and awkward and tense and I could see it really happening to two people who’ve just broken apart. Nevermind the fake mustaches and whatnot, Jim sitting there with pretty much nothing to say except the wrong thing while Karen grew more and more angry is *exactly* what happens to so many people. Er…maybe that’s just my own experiences.

I did like to see Jim being taken to task at pretty much every turn in this episode. Sure we all love him, but he can’t always rely on being the “cool” one in the bunch.

Oh, and Toby’s snazzy bow tie? Fabulous!

Anyway, I just want to say how much I LOVED that Pam sympathized with Jim and tried to make him feel better. She was the epitomy of a caring girlfriend and I thought to myself…At LAST! The writers have kept them solid and I can’t thank them enough for that.

As for Jim/Karen’s exchange. It was brilliant to see Jim squirm, something we didn’t see in their silent exchange in The Job, but what bothered me was that Fillipeli still cared. She still felt hurt, betrayed, and angry when all I wanted to see was her moving on. Jim didn’t come out a winner in the conversation but Karen didn’t either. But hell, that’s reality, right?

I really hated the FTC. Pam, the girl who was so upset no one came to her Art Show is now excluding people? What gives? That whole idea was nauseating. If it wasn’t for the roll credits scene in the end I would have said phooey to the whole plot.

As for Dwight. He’s baaaack! Yipee.

Speaking of Halperts family, we so called that last night or the other night when we were talking in the OT chatroom. Score for us!

There was just not enough Karen in this episode for me. I suppose I had built it up in my head as Karen’s Triumphant Return, and that’s not quite what we got. I was kind of sad. I miss Karen (and Rashida), too.

My only complaint about tonight’s episode is that there wasn’t enough Andy. And where was Angela?

Kath – I’m pretty sure you mean that Karen got her ass dumped by a fountain in NY, not her dumped ass by a fountain in NY (since I don’t feel qualified to comment on the entire episode I’ll just check your grammer instead, giddy girl).

I have to say that my thought process when I heard about this episode was pretty much the same as yours. I was thinking there would be a meaningful conversation between Jim & Karen and some closure for both of them. Boy was I wrong. Karen was a battle ax and Jim kind of whimped out during their conversation. I can think of a million other things that he could have said aside from what he actually did say which would have made him come off seeming more dignified and mature, he totally blew it though. Something tells me this isn’t going to be there last encounter. I hope they both get the chance to redeem themselves.

I have no comment on the finer things subplot since I really didn’t get that at all.

And I have to very much agree with you GMMR, the Michael/Jim radio conversation was so funny I almost suffocated from laughing. “Just climb on top of her and think of Stanley!” Is now the text on my screen saver.

I think I am starting to like what they are doing with Jim this season. Instead of so much drama about Jim and Pam relationship, we seem to be getting some sublte drama about how now that Jim’s love life is somewhat stable he is starting to realize the rest of this life may need some changes.
