Give Me My Remote Supports the WGA

We at GiveMeMyRemote.com support the WGA and its members to be fairly compensated for the work they create. TV as we know it has and will be affected and you should understand why. Throughout history Unions have fought for rights they believe in and have helped shape some of the rights and basic ways of life they we enjoy without notice everyday.

I understand that it’s hard for some to garner sympathy for those who some think are living the glamorous life, but I urge you to educate yourself on the issues, and the facts and understand that the WGA is not made up of just millionaires living the dream but more so by writers, who like most of us, are just trying to support their families.

Whether you agree or disagree with the issues at hand please know this – television is a vital part of not only our history and culture but also our economy. This strike is affecting much more than the writers but also every single person working in television – in front of and behind the camera. GMMR hopes for a quick resolution for all involved.

If you would like more information about the issues at hand and the latest news from the WGA, I encourage you to check out the following sources:

Support the Writers – Be Heard & Take Action!!
Fans can have a profound impact on these negotiations. At the end of the day the two sides can argue all they want, but without the fans sitting at home watching the programming neither side would have much about or for. There are things that we as TV viewers can start doing immediately to help support the WGA.

  • Immediately STOP watching all TV shows offered by the networks over at NBC.com, ABC.com, CBS.com, Fox.com, etc. The internet and the “new media” is at the heart of the issue. The writers are not seeing one single cent from the revenue earned from the ads you see as you watch your favorite shows online.
  • Resist the urge to watch the replacement reality shows that the networks are going to force on us in light of this work stoppage. I am not saying abandon all reality shows but I do ask that you avoid the new reality programming that will be coming our way in the next few months.
  • WRITE! – THEY CAN’T SO WE SHOULD!!! Our friends at the WGA have said that fans of television can help support their cause by contacting the networks and demanding that they return to the negotiating table. While you have the pen to paper, please take a moment to inform the networks that you want to see more quality scripted television. Here are the addresses for the big four networks.
