Jordin Sparks Sings National Anthem at the Superbowl

February 4, 2008 by

Last year’s AMERICAN IDOL winner, Jordin Sparks, had the honor to singing the national anthem at yesterday’s Superbowl. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I sure as hell didn’t expect THAT performance. I thought Jordin was absolutely incredible and she nailed it – not an easy song, and not an easy stage. Well done, Jordin.

Don’t know if you noticed, but she was lip syncing…It was her voice and all but very obviously singing along. I understand why they do that, but she needed to practice matching up a bit better! It was a fantastic rendition!

Oh I didn’t notice that. Well that certainly takes a way from it now, doesn’t it.

Was she lip syncing? I just assumed it was the slight distance between what she sang in the mic and when everyone in the stands heard it. Hmm.

Anyway, I thought the performance was good, but I was a bit perterbed by how bored she seemed about all of it. Afterward, she just looked like, “Why am I standing here?”

clearly prerecorded. The audio was way too perfect.

She was good, but not great. Definitely no Whitney.

Nice to see her in the stands later on wearing some Giants apparel. Guess she’s still a fan after dad retired.

Pre-recorded but still good. I don’t have a problem with artists pre-recording for events like that. It’s better than having it screw up, like it normally does.

I watched it too, and I’m not sure she was lip-syncing either? I think it might just be a delay…

Yeah, lip-synced because some parts were right on but some were a little off, lip wise. But I’m with Carli. I’d rather have it that way than for Jordin to get up there and have her mic not work or hear some horrendous feedback. After all, it’s still Jordin and she still had to sing those notes, only in a studio. I thought it was a beautiful version of the anthem.
