PROJECT RUNWAY…WWE Smackdown

February 8, 2008 by

Let’s not bury the lead here, Ricky is gone!!! Praise Jesus, Ricky is gone. It’s been a long time coming. Let’s be honest here, he probably shouldn’t have made it this far on the show. I’m starting to wonder if he was cast as this season’s Sanjaya. You know, the guy the producers string along to make the other designers look good? He’s easily expendable at just the right time and ensures that someone that has an off week (this time around it was Sweet Pea) gets to live to design another day.

Read on for my take on this week’s episode, and make sure you read to the very end so you can get a recap of this week’s episode from American Designer Michael Kors (ha).

This week, the designers were asked to make hideous outfits for the WWE Divas…you know, the professional women wrestlers. I don’t know if it was the outfits, the hair, the bad bood jobs, or the fake orange tans, but they all looked like a bunch of inexperienced trannies (as opposed to real trannies that really know how to work it and would never be caught looking so cheap).

All the designers, with the exception of Chris, were horrified to have to design something so hideous. You know it was so way far beneath Rhami to use Spandex (but damn if he didn’t find a way to drape it). Christian started off whining and ended up whining, but between the whines he came around and fell in love with his “fierce” outfit (so did I). Sweet Pea once again struggled (when doesn’t she) and was even more nervous when Tim showed displeasure with her design (when doesn’t he). Jillian didn’t cry or run out of time, but she was the last one in the design room so it’s not like she learned anything from her past time management issues. And Ricky…well Ricky made a bathing suite and draped a piece of gold fabric over this wrestler. Yeah, nothing more to say about it.

Chris won the challenge, and although he did a great job with his look, I don’t think it was quite to the level of Christian’s design. I’d like nothing more to see Christian’s attitude hacked to death by a flat iron, but the kid is one hell of a designer. Week in and week out he delivers, and his execution is flawless. I think the judges and producers are worried about giving Christian the win every week so they have to farm it out a bit.

Project Runway, WWE Divas

And as I mentioned, we said buenos noches as Ricky was auf’d (and the crowd goes wild!!!). Did anyone else find it amazing that Ricky, who has cried like an unstable bitch in every single episode managed to hold it together and NOT cry when he was auf’d? Amazing!

Next week the designers go on another field trip, but this time around it might be to somewhere they actually want to go. Oh and Tim Gunn continues to be a God among men.

Jennifer’s Runway…

Jennifer Eolin (http://www.myspace.com/jennifereolin)Hi everybody, Michael Kors here. Jennifer (Eolin) is so overcome with emotion due to Ricky being auf’d that she’s treating herself to some red highlights for her hair and is far too busy to write her own blog. I know you are wondering: How do you, the great American designer Michael Kors, know this? I’ll tell you. I got a text from her just as I was about to sink into a cranberry bath with my new issue of Elle magazine and a strong appletini. The text read: “Kors! Getting my hair did! Will u write my blog?” I wrote back: “I care about your blog why?” Then she sent me a frowny face with a bunch of exclamation points. (What is WITH this girl and the exclamation points? It’s like she’s constantly yelling.) Then she texted something about how writing her blog would result in happy fists and in an exasperated hissy fit, I threw the phone down the toilet and flushed twice. That’s what I do when I’m annoyed, because I am the great American designer, Michael Kors. And I have many assistants who will buy me a new iPhone whenever I throw it down the toilet. (Which has happened 7 other times. This week. But who’s counting? Except my assistant Tiffany, because that’s her only job.)
