I believe-because of the whole time paradox thing- that when they send someone back in time (like derek) who then changes the future, but not HIS, he has lived his life up until now, but he has altered the universe in which he lived and has created a different path for the one he is in now….OTHERWISE, if they stop skynet, then there’s no kyle reese going to the past which equals no John Connor or Sarah Connor as we know her…THEREFORE, all the work they have done to stop skynet will be nulled…I know its confusing, but it’s the only way I can wrap my head around it…

I find the best thing to do with time travel is to just not think about it — too many paradoxes otherwise. The biggest flaw is that if they do stop Skynet, then it wouldn’t have created any time portals, and Future John would never have sent Kyle Reese back to protect his mother and thus he never would have been born. So that’s why I just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Cameron also kept some of the metal from the fourth episode (“Heavy Metal”). And the bolt isn’t just a bolt — it’s the CPU of that Terminator. So the real question is what does River… I mean Cameron… really have planned? What’s her real mission?

We were just seeing the future the way Derek knew it before he went back and changed it. Now that he traveled back, he already exists in the past so he will remember the future the way it was as he knew it. Those are his memories.

I loved loved loved this episode! It’s all I wanted this series to be and Brain Austin Green? If I can’t have Micheal Biehn? He’ll do in a pinch.

As for the confusion, I can understand it you haven’t seen the first Terminator movie a hundred times like me. There were lots of references to it (which I found cool as shit!) Keep in mind, Derek wasn’t having flash forwards, those were flashbacks for him. And just because you change one thing doesn’t mean you change the inevitable. I don’t think anyone can actually stop Skynet. And doomsday will always happen. They only change how and when.

I am loving this show to peices. I think paired with 24 would be a super high octane Monday!
