I actually really like the guy and his dry Brit sense of humor. And the cocktail party has some priceless moments, cringeworthy and otherwise. Arm wrestling, clarinets, beer can biting, and hot dog vendors - what's not to love?! I like the undercurrent storyline of finding out who the mother is...but I'm not that excited or interested in it. I kind of feel like when the show has run its course (wayyyy down the road!), they will just introduce a new character and make that the mother. Have the producers/writers ever said they know who the mother is? Watched BBT for the first time...pretty good - I will check it out again! Also watched Christine - and really really enjoyed it.
