Still Paley-ing Along in L.A.

March 19, 2008 by

I know you may find this very hard to believe, but there’s been two TV bloggers in this hotel room since Friday and the TV hasn’t been turned on with the exception of a few minutes on Saturday morning. Bizarre. Ducky and I have caught a few minutes here and there on my Slingbox, but we’ve had so much other stuff going on that there hasn’t been much time for the ‘ol boob tube. In case you were wondering, this is my excuse for the lack of updates on GMMR this week.

We’ve had a great time not only at the Paley panels but in Los Angeles in general. Being here has presented a bunch of opportunities to meet with some really cool people, some of whom will be really helpful in bringing GMMR a lot more inside scoop on our favorite shows in the future. And we’re note done yet!

But this week has been all about Paley. Two panels down and two more to go. If you are a true TV lover like me than this is one hell of a way to spend a week – my birthday week none the less.

PUSHING DAISIES…
I’m hoping that if you are a PUSHING DAISIES fan then you’ve found your way over to our coverage of the Paley panel over at ThePieMaker.com. We’ve got pics, videos, recaps…everything you could really ever want to know about the panel. Dan and I will be posting our PUSHING DAISIES Piecast Podcast later today, and I’ll be sure to post it here as well as over on our Pushing Daisies site. The panel was last Saturday and Dan and I have been reliving the incredible night ever since.

CHUCK…
Last night’s CHUCK panel was hysterical. My cheeks were hurting all night from laughing so hard. With Zach Levi (Chuck), Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome) in the house the hotness was off the charts. A great panel with a great moderator in LOST’s Damon Lindelof. Not a bad way to spend the night. Ducky and I did a quick podcast recap last night so check back for that later in the day.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS…
The TV will remain cold again tonight…and for good reason. We are heading off to the FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS panel at Paley, and personally I don’t think I could be more excited. We’ve been snagging amazing front row seats all week, so fingers crossed that we’ll luck out tonight as well. Hanging with Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton tonight. Seriously? Life is good.

BUFFY…
Snagged the hottest ticket in town so I’ll be heading to the BUFFY reunion on Thursday night. Problem is, with so much going on I haven’t finished the series. Panic is setting in. I have nine more episodes to go before tomorrow night so I’m going to be having a mini marathon this morning (good thing it’s still super early here on the left coast). The panel will be amazing, and I’m so honored to be able to go. I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t a little scared. Seriously, with all love to the Buffy fans, some of y’all are crazy and I’m worried about the impending pandemonium. Also worried for the safety of Joss and the cast during the post-panel meet and greet (also known as the public trampling). I got almost run down last night in the mad rush for the stage and that was for CHUCK. I think BUFFY fans might be a bit more, um, passionate?!

Thanks for sticking with me this week. Hopefully things will get back to normal around here when I get back to Boston on Saturday.

You should be scared, scared you got a ticket that someone who really loved the show, who has spent years missing it. I’m a huge fan of your website, but there are so many bigger Buffy fans than you are and it’s disappointing to me that you, as a TV fan, would take a ticket that other fans would die for.

Front row for FNL, excellent! Will you be posting photos, videos and recaps like you did for Pushing Daisies? Please do!

Enjoyed your Chuck podcast, will you be doing one for Buffy? I need to live vicariously through you. Hopefully they’ll put it out on DVD or something later on.

Good luck with your Buffy marathon, I recently finished mine and it always makes me sad but the last few eps are so good, or I like them anyways. We need to have a Buffy post when you’re done so you can let us know your final thoughts about it.

Kayla – You should be more disappointed in the Buffy fans who got tickets and then decided to sell them for an obscene about of money to the highest bidder. I was offered a free ticket to an event…one that would have gone unused as the person had no intention of selling it back to the Paley Center. Are you saying that I should have flat out refused and stayed home? The event was open to the public for purchase and if you didn’t get a ticket I’m sorry but that doesn’t mean I should be denied.
