The Morning After: ‘Big Bang’, ‘Your Mother’, Paradise’

The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Paradise Hotel 2

Hey I don’t name these shows I just watch ’em.I thoroughly enjoyed by Monday night viewing experience. As I’ve effused on many occasion, the one-two punch of THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER brings a smile to my face. And it’s always nice to end the night feeling bad about yourself, so I chose PARADISE HOTEL 2 as my night cap. Oh Mondays!

I’m going to have to go ahead and give the award for most laughs to THE BIG BANG THEORY. While HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was amusing enough, I think I was a little let down after the comical juggernaut which was the last new episode, “The Bracket” (seriously, the Doogie Howser ending alone made it damn near perfect). Kudos to the producers for giving Jason Segel a Marshall-centric episode the week that his new movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” premieres (April 18th) but as a whole the episode just wasn’t strong. Although, as with every episode of this show, there was a lesson to be learned. Tonight it was all about The Lesson of Blauman and the subsequent ‘Chain Circle Pyramid of Screaming’.

While it too wasn’t the best episode ever, I laughed my ass off during THE BIG BANG THEORY. I know it’s not a huge show, but I really hope that Jim Parsons (Sheldon) gets recognized for the work he’s doing come Emmy time. While the cast is strong, he really carries the biggest comedic weight on that show, and does so perfectly deadpanned…just genius (no pun intended). Seeing Sheldon completely breakdown after a young genius comes to town was too funny. And I don’t know why everyone kept dismissing his plan for Peace in the Middle East via Mexico? I saw no flaw.

After watching the two comedies, I ended the evening with the hot mess that is PARADISE HOTEL. I don’t write about it much here because I figured I would lose any little credibility that I actually have as an informed TV fan by the admission alone. But I can’t help myself. This show is 100% trash and I can’t get enough of it.

Sitting down to watch tonight’s episode, I was still reeling a bit from last week’s ousting of Tanya by that new little wench, Myrna. Tanya and Mikey are my two favorite guests and to see their love ripped apart so brutally when it was just starting to blossom…(sniff, sniff). Whew, ok. Well, let’s just say that I was ready to see Myrna go down (ok not the best choice of words given that this is PARADISE HOTEL). I can’t stand her and her whiny voice. And I’m sorry, but she is NOT pretty at all. What’s all the fuss? She’s all busted up. Anyway, last night wasn’t really about Myrna as much as it was about the final new guest checking into Paradise Hotel – Zach. Yup, crazy Zach from Season One is back and he’s a little less crazy…and a little less good looking. What’s up with that? I didn’t even recognize the kid. He looks really different. Oh well, Zach wants us to think he’s matured, but I’ve got to see a little more of him before I believe him. Early on he seems to be siding with the OGs (me too), but by the end we see some shady dealings that makes me think he’s going to be turning the game upside down. Sadly…so intrigued!!

So a Monday night with a group of friends, so wacky geniuses, and some sexually charged wannabes. how did YOU spend your Monday night? Did you watch any of these shows? What did you think? Or if there’s something else you watched, tell us about it.
