Moonlighting with MOONLIGHT

Moonlight

Welcome back MOONLIGHT. CBS’s vampish cult hit returned with a new episode this past Friday and it returned with quite an impact. There was a lot to take in this week, and I found myself once again drawn into the show…despite realizing that it’s far from perfect.

In case you missed it…
In a nutshell, when we last saw Mick he had taken Coraline’s cure that turned him from a vamp back to a human being. Mick is now enjoying his life as a mortal and all the things that come with being alive – you know, like going out in the daylight, sleeping in a bed instead of an industrial freezer, eating hotdogs – the finer things. But when Beth’s Editor is murdered (bye bye Tammy from Real World LA) and Beth’s life is put in danger, Mick makes the ultimate sacrifice to turn back into a vamp to save the woman he loves (cue the violins). The two finally confront their feelings – although let’s be honest here, Mick is 80-something years old, one would think he would be a bit more comfortable talking about his feelings by this point. They smooch and Beth calls Mick out on letting his vampish ways get between them. Mick says he just needs time. Beth says don’t take too long. Hey Mick, if you need a fire under your ass you might want to take notice out the hottie mchott detective that was snooping around your lady this week. I’m just saying.

Things that make you go hmmm…
So that’s a little MOONLIGHT recaplet for ya. But I also thought I’d share some of the random notes that I jotted down while watching the episode.

  • If the powers that be want to put a shirtless Alex O’Loughlin in every episode you will not hear any complaints from me.
  • Did you really need to hurt me by naming a character Logan in a show that stars Jason Dohring? I live everyday with the sadness that Veronica Mars is over. You don’t need to put salt in the wound. There are a billion names to choose from but you just had to choose Logan?
  • Speaking of “Logan” – cheers to casting David Blue aka Cliff from UGLY BETTY. I love that guy. I just want to pinch his cheeks (and play Guitar Hero with him – I’m obsessed).
  • Sophia Myles really needs to work on her American accent. She’s slipping left and right. Why does it annoy me so much?

  • Are Brian J. White (Lt Carl Davis) and Shannyn Sossamon ( Coraline) still on the show? Did TPTB write them off because I thought they were both series regulars. Talk to me MOONLIGHT junkies.
  • Moonlight has been fraught with ANGEL comparisons since day one. I would think they would want to avoid an episode where the Vampire is turned mortal only have to make the call to return to the life of a vampire to save the woman he loves. I’m just saying.
  • Speaking of the Whedonesque world, this is the first episode of MOONLIGHT I’ve seen since commencing ‘Project Buffy‘ and I must say that I was very thrown when Mick killed the vamps and they didn’t turn into dust.
  • I like this show. I really do. But would it hurt the writers to add a bit of subtly and nuance into the scripts? There’s hardly a scene where things aren’t predictable. I’m talking the action, the dialogue – everything. I find myself liking the show despite these really obvious (and I mean obvious) issues. Alex is a fantastic actor but he can do more than the dialogue asks of him.
  • I under that Josef Konstantin is the biggest and baddest of all the vamps in L.A., but if I never have to see Jason Dohring in the vamp makeup again it won’t be too soon.
  • HoYay! Homoeroticsm…damn!! I think I’ve become a Josef/Mick shipper. Josef turning Mick back into a vamp was one of the hottest things I have seen on TV in some time.
  • I’m kind of scared for the MOONLIGHT panel at Comic Con this year. I’m looking forward to it, but some of these MOONLIGHT fans are crazy – they’re right up there with the SUPERNATURAL girls. I kid – I love you all, I’m just you all are passionate (I’m off to run and hide)

Until next week, MOONLIGHTers….

Although I love Moonlight, I don’t consider myself part of the fandom. I don’t really read the boards or keep up on any “gossip? BUT, I might have to reconsider after the Mick/Josef scene last week. That was hot and, I will admit, I didn’t expect it! I am curious about the fan reaction. Although if there is any Supernatural crossover, I am sure it’s mostly positive!

Thanks for the recap GMMR. I was waiting for your thoughts on it. I know the show has some holes in it, but Alex O’Loughlin can do no wrong. His portrayl of a mortal was so sweet and innocent. And while I love his sacrifice for Beth (mostly for the hot M/J action), I expected him to be human for an episode or two. Between Gossip Girl and Moonlight, TV is back on with a vengence!

I love Moonlight, and for me they can do no wrong….yes I am part of their fandom. I’m sick and tired of it being compared to anything that has ever been on TV and believe me ladies I’m old enough to have seen stuff from way before you guys were ever born.

Jason is great in his vamp makeup and we Moonlighters hope there is more…after all it is a vamp show.

HOMOEROTICSM !!!! I THINK NOT!!! I just viewed a wonderful YouTube clip entitled, “He ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother”…….why don’t you check that out and then write something positive.

I know some fans might be tired of hearing it be compared, but one can’t help but make comparisons to angel and more accurately maybe to Forever Knight (its almost the same show, but with iphones…)

As for Homoerotic, I think that right on the money… Its exactly waht came to my mind after seeing the scene… But then again, in vampire litterature homosexuality abounds… Plus I could handle more of those two together…

And lastly, is it just me or is Josef, logan but as a vampre? I like Jason, but I would have liked the character to be a little less Logan… I too miss Veronica Mars, and this is far from it.

I love it, love it, love it. Can’t wait each week to get my “mcfix” as they would say on “Grey’s”. Mick St John is the hottest actor on TV right now. And this comes from a 40 something happily married fan!

“Speaking of “Logan” – cheers to casting David Blue aka Cliff from UGLY BETTY. I love that guy. I just want to pinch his cheeks (and play Guitar Hero with him – I’m obsessed).”

Now they need to bring in another Logan from a cancelled show – Matt Czuchry – and we’d be all set! 🙂

“Are Brian J. White (Lt Carl Davis) and Shannyn Sossamon ( Coraline) still on the show? Did TPTB write them off because I thought they were both series regulars.”

I hope she never ever ever EVER graces my tv screen again.

“I under that Josef Konstantin is the biggest and baddest of all the vamps in L.A., but if I never have to see Jason Dohring in the vamp makeup again it won’t be too soon.”

I would actually pay to see it again. Yum. 😉

    Despite the show’s flaws, I am a die-hard fan. DIE-HARD!
