BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Recap: “The Road Less Traveled”

Sorry to GMMR recapper Jo and the rest of you that were waiting to see this week’s recap of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Today is the first day I’ve been online since Friday. My bad.

Wait no more. Here’s it is…

39,676? Must’ve been a baby born in the fleet.

Mutiny! Civil war! Cults! But the weirdest part of all was the fact that half of the cast was MIA.

On Galactica, Baltar’s cult of impressionable women bring their grief and rage to him. I can’t tell if Tory is using him or actually believing his sermons. I’d like to think her new found Cylon strength and villainous attitude means in the end, she’ll bring Baltar down. The Chief and his surprisingly round head are listening to Baltar too. Tory’s still spinning the Cally suicide version of the story but Chief looks like he doesn’t believe anyone or anything these days. We are t-minus a couple of episodes before he really looses it. I can’t wait.

On Demetrius, the crews’ mumbles grow louder as Starbuck spends most of her time painting pictures of our solar system. Helo does his best to follow orders but even he doesn’t want to jump to the same place for a third time. The Demetrius has a rendezvous with Galactica that Starbuck is willing to miss when she finds a damaged Raider, complete with Leoben center. I have to admit, this is the first time that Leoben has appeared on screen and I wasn’t completely creeped out. I mean, Baltar is creepy in the sleazy sense, but Leoben’s wild eyes give me the jibblies. He wants to help Starbuck fulfill her destiny but that would mean chasing after a Baseship to talk to the Hybrid. He tells her about the Cylon civil war and how the humans should ally up with his friends. But then his Raider blows up and kills a dayplayer. So she beats him up. And decides to go after the Baseship anyways. Helo finally has enough and relieves her of command. Mutiny! To be Continued!

There are more questions now besides who’s number five and what state will Earth be found in. How will this affect Starbuck & Helo’s friendship? It’s one of my favorite relationships in the show. Which of the Four Cylons will be exposed first? I love that they are all dealing differently. Tory’s found an unwavering confidence, Tigh is trying to reconcile his wife’s murder, Tyrol questions everything about life and Anders is just trying to survive.
