David Cook’s Risky Business ‘Guitar Hero’ Commercial

My new favorite commercial. David Cook for Guitar Hero. Did anyone else noticed in Archuleta’s version he is clearly wearing boxers? I’m sure Cook is too but we can’t see ’em, and that’s ok. I’m not a complainer.

AMERICAN IDOL Finale: Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr aka ‘The Pips’

So much better than last year’s creepy Celine Dion/Elvis duet, this year we got Gladys Knight and the original Pips – Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. Funny stuff. Amazing what these crazy computer geeks can do these days.

David Archuleta’s Risky Business ‘Guitar Hero’ Commercial

While I really enjoyed the David Cook commercial for ‘Guitar Hero’, I must say that I was a little disturbed by the David Archuleta version. But I’m sure a lot of creepy men who hang out online and will eventually meet Chris Hanson later in life will love it.

By popular demand, here’s David Archuleta’s Risky Business ‘Guitar Hero’ commercial.

(Speaking of Guitar Hero. If someone can tell me how I can possibly beat Lou in the medium level final battle of Guitar Hero III, I would greatly appreciate it.)

Who Won American Idol Season 7

In the end it came down to the two guys that deserved most to be there – David Cook and David Archuleta. The contest is over. The votes have been counted. But starting at 8pm EST we’ve got 2 hours and about 55 minutes or so until one of them is named the American Idol.

The top 12 will reunite on stage and we will be forced to sit through some most likely really cheesy numbers. I’m assuming at some point everyone (or at least the Davids) will be clad all in white. [Cheesy number with all the Idols dressed in white in the first 5 minutes]. The dancing will be horrible. [It was…especially Amanda Overmeyer who looks like she would rather stand naked in Alaska than be on the Idol tour.] Jason Castro will look annoyed [and high]. Syesha, Carly and Michael will remind us that they all went home to early [yup, way too early]. Brook White will probably cry, or at least want to cry but then forget that she wanted to cry and ask that they start the finale all over again. [Ok maybe not but she was reading the lyrics off the teleprompter during her duet. Oh Brooke].

Ugh, start praying now that we don’t have to sit through the Golden Idol Awards, or for that matter anything involving Kelly Pickler and Wolfgang Puck. [Thankfully the Golden Idols have been retired. Instead we got “I am your brother, your best friend forever.” I was thrilled.]

Rumors are floating that there’s going to be some pretty big names in the house tonight and on stage. But who will the big guest be? Paul McCartney? Michael Jackson? Maybe even someone the voting AMERICAN IDOL audience (i.e. the tweens) really care about?! Note, if Michael Jackson IS the surprise guest tonight, for the love of God keep him away from Archuleta. [For a show that talks so much about being relevant tonight’s musical guests included Donna Summer, the Canadia Bruce Springsteen – Bryan Adams, Graham Nash, Gladys Knight (actually that one was inspired), and George Michael (although I’m not complaining about him despite his song being an hour long, but I was kind of waiting for Eli Stone to make an appearance.]

After over 95M votes…one David got 56% and the other got 44% of the vote.

The winner of American Idol season 7 is….

First Look: CHUCK the Comic Book

CHUCK the comic

Having CHUCK withdrawals and don’t want to wait until September to see what’s going on with our favorite Buy More Super Spy? You’re in luck because the adventures of Chuck Bartowski are about to jump off the small screen and into the pages of a comic book. Starting June 11th WildStorm will kick off a six-issue series comic featuring characters from the hit NBC show.

“Since we can do absolutely anything in a comic book, we’re going to take Chuck Bartowski out of the confines of the Buy More store and put him on crazy, globe-trotting spy adventures a la James Bond,” says co-writer writer Peter Johnson. The first issue centers around a plot that finds Chuck “at the big, bad high-tech Supermax prison in Tokyo where he’ll confront all the villains he’s helped put away in the series,” says Johnson. “We’ll also send him to Rio and Moscow. It’s what would happen if Chuck was a $300 million Hollywood blockbuster.”

So what can we expect to see in future issues? According to Johnson, “the comic will go back and explore Chuck and Morgan as kids. We’ll see what Chuck and Bryce were like in college. We’ll do Bryce and Sarah spy stories. The series will also flash-forward to a speculative, alternate universe kind of future in which Chuck and Sarah are married.”

And just in case you thought he was just a pretty face, CHUCK star Zachary Levi is on board to pen one of the comics.

I haven’t been into comics since I was reading the old Richie Rich and Archie comics back when I was a kid, but I’m definitely going to be checking out the CHUCK comics. And something tells me I might be able to snag a few for a giveaway at Comic Con.

Here’s a sneak peek at the first five pages:

The American Idol Finale

The final performance is here. David vs. David – let the better David win. I’ll be sharing my random commentary throughout the night. And I have a feeling it’s going to be a loooong night.

  • Ryan is kicking up the drama and breaking it out battle style. He said the title of ‘American Idol’ is reserved for only a select few. They show Chris Daughtry. Um, hey producers…Daughtry came in 4th. Remember?
  • David Archuleta has won the coin toss and will perform second. My sister is worried that if Cook wins Papa Archuleta will whip out an oozie and kill Cook. I hope someone has locked him up.

Before we get into Seeleybaby’s recap of the season finale of BONES, I just wanted to take a minute and thank her for bringing this show to GMMR this year. I know many of you are fans, and I was glad that you now had GMMR as an outlet to talk about the show. Just because I wasn’t watching it didn’t mean you weren’t. I’m going to do my best to catch up on BONES this summer. I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try. And once again, thank you Seeleybaby for your great recaps! I’m sure other BONES fans are really happy you came along.

……
Mixed feelings before this episode. Hoping to find out what’s up with our man Booth, hoping the title doesn’t mean a literal pain in his heart, or someone else’s heart because he’s dead or eaten by Gormogon or something.

Within the first ten minutes, we find out Booth is not dead, and Brennan busts in on him when he’s naked in his bathtub. All is forgiven, Bones writers. Sorry for doubting you.

Why was Booth at his own funeral? I don’t actually care. He’s alive. I feel better now, but Booth doesn’t because Brennan slaps him hard across the face.

Tonight’s the night. It’s David vs. David in the AMERICAN IDOL finals. Tomorrow night one will walk away the winner, and the other…well the other is going to be just fine so I’m not worried.

So as we get ready for tonight, I ask…who do you WANT to win American Idol? Who do you think deserves it? (Remember, don’t vote for who you THINK will win…we’ll do that poll tomorrow).

Defend your choice in the comments.

GOSSIP GIRL is the Single Greatest TV Show Ever

How’s that for a attention grabbing title.  Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement.  Perhaps GOSSIP GIRL isn’t the single greatest TV show ever, but I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t what I was feeling while watching last night’s season finale.

I’m not sure what happened to the GOSSIP GIRL writers during the WGA strike but if they could bottle it and take it to the Hamptons this summer and hide it away for safe keeping until the show returns in the Fall I will be forever grateful.  Don’t get me wrong, I have truly enjoyed every dirty moment of GOSSIP GIRL since it premiered last Fall, but the batch of episodes we’ve had post-strike have been off the charts good.  The writing has been over the top and so tight.  The character arcs are equally grandiose and delicious.  And even the actors have stepped up their game to match the material they have been given.  Just as the show is blasting on all cylinders, we have a summer break.  Now that’s just cruel.
