CALIFORNICATION Catch Up…

Californication

During the TV off season (not that an offseason exists anymore) there were a number of shows that GMMR readers asked that I cover this year on the site. Since I wasn’t in the position to take on many new shows, we extended our team to bring you more of your favorite shows here on GMMR. One of those shows premieres its second season tonight at 10pm – CALIFORNICATION. Sarah is going to be taking on this Showtime fave, so if you’re watching make sure you come back tomorrow to share your thoughts on the show. But for now, let’s play a little CALIFORNICATION catch up with Sarah.

It’s been too long a wait for the second season of Californication to begin. Just watching Showtime’s promotional ads with that infectious whistling tune makes September 28th seem too far away. Thanks to the help of GMMR though, some of you may have viewed the season premiere early.

For the unfortunate souls who have yet to view the season opener I’m sure the happy ending from season one’s last episode is still burned into your mind with the uneasy question, how and when will Hank screw this one up?

It’s hard not to think such thoughts after witnessing Hank’s wild antics first hand in season one. After discovering that Karen was serious about marrying the Jolly Green Giant, Hank took every opportunity to wedge his way in the middle of the happy couple and their family affairs. When Moody wasn’t exercising his amazing charms on Karen he was busy with the ladies and the booze!

Who gets ladies the way Moody does? Hank seems to attract every troubled hot chick within a 20 mile radius, and they usually come with a disastrous ending. From his indiscretions with the underage Mia who actually punches him in the middle of the deed, which later makes for a great book, to the sexy vulnerable scientologist Hank falls head over heels for. And who could forget the angry squirter and Trixie the once aspiring veterinarian?

Ultimately a turn for the worst, the death of Moody’s promisious dad, sends the bachelor deeper into the dark depths of himself. Luckily an euphony and a one night stand with the women, Karen, who holds his heart in her hand sends Moody right to the other side of the fence when it comes to the prospects of marriage!

After purchasing an engagement ring conflict intervenes again, throwing the destiny of the former couple off track with the announcement that their rockstar daughter Becca wants to move in with Dad, who’s idea of clean laundry is buying new clothes. While anger brews towards Hank, Karen trudges forward towards her wedding day in hopes of living a normal life with the very boring Bill.

On the day of the wedding the arrival of Becca’s womanhood suddenly sparks sadness and regret for Karen who didn’t envision a life like this. Surprisingly enough she does however follow through with the marriage, even after the interruption from a very drunk Mia who tells the entire wedding how the oversexed novelist deflowered her! Mia does in the end chalk it up to a lie and the nuptials carry on. And then in a great last minute fashion creator Tom Kapinos drives Karen back into the arms of Hank as she jumps in the back of his beat up porshe and down the road reunited with her family once again!

Now finally after a long wait Californication is only days away! Yes, I’ve already seen the first episode and I will watch it again! In the coming season creator, Tom Kapinos, promises to bring fans an even better collection of episodes!

This season Hank and Karen will attempt to leave L.A. behind only to both be offered great career opportunities. The happy couple isn’t so happy either. Karen will reportedly put a great deal of effort into moving the pair towards a more responsible lifestyle while Hank just can’t seem to change his stripes! Plenty of crazy incidents will take place, one involving Hank accidently getting hot and heavy with someone who isn’t Karen ending with a night in the clink!

In season 2 Becca will get a little sick of her crazy parents and decide to change in her more responsible side, morphing into a rebellious teen. I’m sure there’s lots of help on the Mia front!

The Runkles will also get into their own amount of trouble after Marcy decides to relive the good old days with too much blow and lobster! Even with his own problems on the home front it sounds like Moody might just be stepping in to steer the wacky kidless couple in the right direction!

The second blunder filled season of Caliornication kicks off on September 28th on Showtime!
