BROTHERS & SISTERS: Just a Sliver

Brothers and Sisters Cast

Happy Monday Tuesday GMMRers (sorry I forgot to post this yesterday), Jamie here again with your Brother’s and Sisters action. Tthis week it’s a Walker Thanksgiving (a wee bit late).

The Walker siblings have all have made other plans for Thanksgiving, leaving Nora and Sarah to celebrate alone, until a medical emergency brings the family together and Elizabeth’s biological father’s identity is discovered.

Can I say that it was nice to see the Walker’s actually supporting each other, none of them had a complete personality change. This week they put aside any pettiness and apart from a few very minor scraps and arguments, there was no massive Walker family breakdown –  a Thanksgiving miracle.

Seriously I need to ask what is with this family and their phone tree/ speakerphone use? Kevin, Kitty, Justin and Tommy all discuss how they are going to their spouse’s family dinners. They all have yet to inform their mother……and they are terrified.

“Listen up, Walkers!”

Loved the confused looks on their faces when Julia commandeers the phone and tells them how it is. Kudos to Julia for putting everyone in their place about going to her family’s dinner, she finally had some lines to deliver and she did it well.

Poor Sarah. Joe took their kids for Thanksgiving and she gets bombarded by her siblings into staying with Nora for dinner. They all gather at Nora’s to tell her the bad news and just to make things even trickier, Nora has purchased enough groceries to feed all of Pasadena. Nora takes the news sorta well and everything seems fine, but these are the Walkers and we know it’s not. Really they should have told her a lot sooner, my Mom would have killed me if I bailed last minute like they did.

Honestly I had to giggle when Sarah yelled out to her siblings “You’re all dead to me,” and nailed them with yams and fruit. She hit a few of them pretty good, Rachel Griffiths could have played ball!!

Before any meal can take place, Elizabeth, Tommy and Julia’s daughter, starts throwing up blood, so they rush her to the hospital. They find out her liver is in trouble as she may need a transplant. Elizabeth best chance for survival have liver slice from one of her biological parents.  Yes, the big revel is soon……

Tommy is forced to call both Justin and Kevin to the hospital to be tested. Nora overhears his call and rushes to the hospital to be there for Tommy. Justin and Kevin banter about who the father is and are soon off to best tested. In a very quick scene we find out that Elizabeth definitely needs a transplant and Tommy announces it’s Kevin and in a flash he’s off to be prepped. I had a feeling all along it was going to be Kev.

While waiting in the hospital Kitty is battling with her own conflicting feelings on her upcoming motherhood and biological parents. With Robert at home entertaining his family Kitty talks to Tommy. The have a nice chat about knowing what each other is feeling and they bond and Kitty manages to calm Tommy down a bit.

This entire episode Tommy appears genuinely terrified and beyond comfort. He looked helpless and at times Tommy he lashed out at his family with his frustrations and fears. Balthazar Getty out did himself tonight!

Rebecca spends the night at Holly’s place and I guess with all the “daddy” discussion of late Rebecca feels like she needs to call or see David her dad. Holly poo poos the idea and then bashes David’s parental abilities. I have a love/hate thing with Holly, seriously is she the most manipulative woman ever, even in pj’s she tries to work her daughter over. Rebecca however seems unconvinced. This mother/daughter relationship confuses me, one day I think Holly has Rebecca snowed the next I think Rebecca sees right through her, I don’t know what to think.

Elizabeth and Kevin’s operations were both great successes, and for now Elizabeth will be fine. Tommy apologized for the firing Kevin and for putting business before family.

Nora convinces Tommy and Julia to go down to the cafeteria for a long overdue meal, and surprise, its Thanksgiving dinner. The entire Walker family has gathered in the hospital cafeteria together –  even Robert who deserted his family to join Kitty and hers. Did Nora bribe the staff because this doesn’t seems plausible in my books but for once we see a peaceful Walker family dinner. They even managed to smuggle in some alcohol, which is impressive.

What are your thoughts on this episode? How amazing is Scotty, he is such the supportive husband. What are Tommy and Saul going to do? What’s the deal with Rebecca’s dad David and what about Ryan and when are we going to meet him??

Until next week………

Your Brothers and Sisters devotee for this season is Jamie aka Jamer (GMMR handle). She hails from Vancouver BC and is pumped to be adding a dash of Canadian flare to the GMMR. So what will the Walker’s have in store for us this year? I don’t know but let’s enjoy the bumpy ride together!

Hey Jamie! I watched this show late, but I had to comment the wonderfulness of Scotty. Love him – if he and Kevin ever split up I would be so heartbroken. In a show of great characters, they’re by far my favourite.

I have to say (and I know that we generally don’t comment on the personal lives of cast members, but this directly affects viewers, I think) that watching Tommy/Kevin scenes takes on a whole level of weirdness/awkwardness due to the fact that they apparently are at serious odds in real life. Watching Tommy apologize to Kevin and seeing them argue about betrayal and all…that must be just bizarre when they’re acting the scenes. I wish I didn’t know anything about all of that because I cannot help but think of it when they’re in scenes together.

That said, I think it was a fabulous episode and they didn’t play up the sappiness TOO much. I cannot wait to see the plans for ousting Holly – that chick is not going down without a fight!
