The Return of BONES: One Week & Counting

January 8, 2009 by

What is happening, BONES watchers! Are you as excited as I am for new BONES episodes? We are now just one week from an all new episode. One Week!

When our show does return, it’s going to be back on Thursday nights. A very crowded Thursday night TV schedule, so we are going to need everyone to watch.

To get everyone excited I thought I would share a little recap on what’s gone on this season so far. And if you’re interested in finding out what’s coming up in the next few new episodes, then continue reading after the jump.

The Cases…
They’ve been okay this season, but they’ve taken a backseat to the relationships on the show. But you gotta give BONES chops. They’ve managed to cover dog fighting, transgenderism, the world of the stuffy English and a body in an airplane microwave. It’s no “Aliens in a Spaceship”, but I’m not complaining.

The Squints…
Zack never killed a guy, and only Sweets knows it. Sweets has been on top of his game this season, but no one is listening. Except maybe Angela. But is she listening to her heart or her hurt? And Hodgins…He’s lost his best friend and his girl, but he’s trying to stay cool. Cam’s keeping it all together, for the most part, and showing she’s a good friend to Booth these days. Also in the mix is a revolving door of wannabe squints/grad students.

Booth & Brennan…
They are still themselves, somehow misunderstanding one another, yet still knowing each other best. They are getting closer, and it’s interesting to me that both seem to be taking risks where the other is concerned. I’m happy with their continued progression.

How do you think the season has gone thus far?  Are you excited for the show to come back?

Here’s what’s coming up over the next few weeks on BONES.  STOP READING if you don’t want to be SPOILED!

January 15th | Double Trouble in the Panhandle
The death of a set of female conjoined twins who worked in the circus is investigated. The investigation leads Brennan and Booth to go undercover as a Canadian knife-throwing act, and also causes Booth to come face-to-face with a clown. Guest star Andy Richter.

January 22nd | The Hero in the Hold
Booth is kidnapped by the Grave Digger and the Jeffersonian team must find and save him before it’s too late. Meanwhile, when evidence from the Grave Digger’s case goes missing, Brennan and Hodgins are suspected of taking it.

(no date listed) | Fire in the Ice
When a volunteer fireman is murdered at an ice rink, Booth and Brennan begin the investigation, but Booth must recuse himself due to a conflict of interest. When details come to light, Booth becomes a suspect in the homicide.

Woah… I’m not sure that I should have read those spoilers… I’m going to have anxiety over Booth now, yeesh! (Although I’m happy they’re finally re-visiting the Gravedigger storyline, hands down aliens in a spaceship is my favourite Bones ep)

Love your recaps and am looking forward to Bones coming back.

I’m pretty excited about ‘Bones’ coming back. The whole “undercover at a circus” thing has me reminiscing about an old “Remington Steele” episode in which (you guessed it) Steele and Laura go undercover at a circus. At this point, I don’t know if it’s my love for ‘Bones’ that has me so excited for next weeks show, or my love of early-80s detective shows.

I feel like this season has been much better than the end of last season (with the exception of the hold-over episodes from last season….). Plus, I’m glad they’ve finally figured out how to use John Francis Daley.

According to one website, “Fire in the Ice” will air February 5, with the episode that Boreanaz is directing to air either two or three weeks after that. I will be interested to see whether they choose to wrap up the Gravedigger storyline in one episode, or if they leave that storyline slightly open for another return appearance in a year or so.

I can’t wait for next week’s episodes. 2 new eps in 1 night, what am I going to do with myself??? This circus episode looks ridiculously hilarious. I’m really looking forward to seeing more Sweets-Booth-Bones interactions. Those are my fav.
