America’s Best Dance Crew…It’s On

A certain someone has been trying to get me to watch AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW since it first premiered. I was hesitant. I am so die hard about SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE that I didn’t think it was possible for me to take on another dance competition, none the less love another one. But when I heard that a few SYTYCD alums were now on ABDC I decided to check it out.
To this person who has been pleading with me to watch (yes you with the fancy kicks) – I watched. I loved. I’m hooked. You have done YOUR JOB.
For all of you SYTYCD fans out there, you MUST watch ABDC. You’re going to love it. And not just because Shane Sparks is a judge, or that one of the sickest crews just happens to feature SYTYCDancers Ryan (Season 1), Dom (Season 3) and Hok (Season 3), but because there is some serious talent taking to the stage.
As for the dance crews that performed last night. Some were really tight and others a bit sloppy. The Quest Crew (featuring the SYTYCD) were by FAR my favorite. Their dancing was so inventive and tight that I can see them going all the way.

I also thought Beat Freaks (the first of the two all girl dance crews) were insanely good. The judges seemed crazy about The Ringmasters, with all their crazy freaky broke bone moves. I thought they were awesome to watch, but I wanted to see a little less tricks and a little more dancing out of them. Dynamic Edition (the cloggers) were great at the clogging, but terrible at the Hip Hop. They aren’t going to last long, but I’m glad they made it this far because it’s pretty awesome to watch. As for the rest, yeah they didn’t make a huge impression on me.

I’m going to be watching AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW this season and I urge you all to watch along with me. You won’t be disappointed.
P.S. I was thinking about starting a drinking game that required a sip every time the judges said, “Y’alls”, but I don’t want to be responsible for anyone’s death due to alcohol poisoning. But seriously, do the judges EVERY listen to themselves? The ‘Ya’lls” things is so frakking annoying!!

Hey Kath! Long time reader and occasional poster. Glad you like the show, I’ve been watching since S1, but after a while of watching it, you seriously can pick up on some things that can make for an interesting drinking game!
For example:
-Whenever Mario Lopez says something dumb.
-Whenever someone says “Ya’ll kilt it!”
-Whenever JC gets booed.
-Whenever Lil’ Mama says “Ya’ll cease to amaze me.” (Don’t think she said it last night but in S2 she said it a LOT.)
-Whenever any asian person says that their parents don’t support them in dancing. (I’m asian and not all asian parents are like that.)
-Whenever Lil’ Mama clearly makes up words I’ve never heard of.
-Whenever a judge(s) are wearing something ridiculous.
-Whenever there are shots of the audience dancing, they mainly show “hot” girls cause they are wearing too tight and too short clothing.
-Whenever they show all 3 judges and you look behind them into the audience, there is nothing but “hot” girls seated in camera view.
-Whenever there is a sob story (especially if it is one on repeat).
There is most definitely more but those are the ones I can think of now. Sob stories are okay, but I hate it if it’s told to influence votes. Sorry but I watch the show for the dancing. Oh and whenever someone “walks it out” it would be nice if someone actually did “walk it out.”

I caught ABDC on re-run this morning. What’s with our beloved Dominic going by D-Trix now? I, too, loved Quest, and the first girl group. I also liked the first group of the night, the guys in orange/khaki.
Isn’t that guy clogger the one who danced on one of the SYTYCD results shows?
I watched ABDC again this morning too. Yes, the clogger also auditioned for SYTYCD. As for Dom, when he first auditioned for SYTYCD he went by D-Trix. Somewhere along the line he went to Dom, but it was definitey D-Trix first.
