PREVIOUS POST:

I don’t watch THE BACHELOR. I haven’t for many seasons. But I get that many people do enjoy it and I say “why not” – you like what you like. I’m not here to judge. Well not judge YOU at least. That being said I will be the first to admit that I don’t really have the right to start trashing the show now, the night of the season premiere, but I just sat through an hour of heinous TV and I couldn’t go to bed without commenting.

Am I missing something or is this guy Jason just a giant douche? I took issue with him being The Bachelor way back when he was first cast. To each their own, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around him volunteering to go on a reality show when he has a little kid. Whether it was or not, it reeked of exploitation.

But let’s skip all that and talk about tonight. So Jason proposed to Melissa and she said Yes, leaving Molly to wonder “why not me! why not me!” But tonight (or whenever this was taped), Jason decides on national television, that he needs to end things with Melissa so he can try to get it on with Molly, whom he dumped all those months ago. You’re engaged (ha) and you couldn’t do this in privacy? You had to humiliate the girl on national TV?

And if that wasn’t enough (and clearly it wasn’t), this asshat then goes and tells Molly that it’s been her all along. He actually goes as far as to ask her out for coffee or a drink. And get this – she says YES. They get all googly eyes and smoochy with each other. Did he not just dump his “fiance” 15 minutes before? As someone on Twitter commented tonight, this sends a great message to psycho ex-girlfriends everywhere – just keep on loving him because maybe one day he’ll dump her and come back to you. Ha ha!! Seriously?! Seriously?!

…and there within lies the question – seriously.

If the rampant and convincing rumors are true, this whole bait and switch was carefully planned out months ago. The producers allegedly went to Jason and asked him to choose Melissa despite his clear connection with Molly. They thought it would make for great TV to incorporate a twist like this. Talk about the most shocking rose ceremony ever. And again, if the speculation is true, Jason went along with it, hence making him a complete loser. I can only hope that Melissa and Molly were in on this from the beginning too. You really have to hope that they weren’t really manipulated like this.

I know I shouldn’t be shocked and appalled at what producers of reality shows will do, and there’s something to be said about the caliber of people who choose to go on a reality show to find love, but still I’m floored. If the rumors are true and Jason was in on the plan and BOTH girls were not? Ew…just ew. No matter what the circumstances that brought them here tonight, this guy is someone’s father. Isn’t that a shame that this is the lesson and life experience he chooses to share with his kid?  And despite appearances,  it’s not like I care about this all that much. Honestly. But I watched and I had an opinion – a dangerous this when you have access to your own blog. Ha!

Ok I’m prepared to take a beating for chiming in on a show I don’t watch. I couldn’t help myself. What did YOU think of tonight’s dramatic turn of events?

This is why you are my favorite TV blogger. Who cares if you’ve never watched the show you can still comment on this sham. I can’t believe I watched all season long. You are right, this guy is a douche. I’m glad his little boy Ty isn’t old enough to understand all this right now. His father has some explaining to do.

You read my mind!!!!!!!!! Jason will know be simply known as the asshat. I love this show because I think it’s funny. Where do they find these idiots?

“this sends a great message to psycho ex-girlfriends everywhere – just keep on loving him because maybe one day he’ll dump her and come back to you.”

OMG this was so funny. I think you should recap next season of The Bachelor!!!!!!!!!

    100% agreed.

No, Jason isn’t a douche, he just did a really douchy thing. It happens to the best of us. He looks like an ass now, but he’s a sweet guy who just made a huge ( and very public) mistake. I do feel bad for Melissa though…

Between this idiot and Scott Peterson’s pending engagement to wife #5, I cannot help but feel as though a lifetime of genuine adoration towards women has been wasted. My mother didn’t raise me to be deceptive or homicidal, but those traits have crept up on the scale of attractiveness, if one were to believe our televisions.

Totally with you Kath, I started watching this show early in the season but you know how Mondays are, so I just tuned in for the fireworks last night. Jason is indeed a douche and I hope Molly dumps his ass. He played the sweet guy up to a tee…if he went along with deliberately choosing someone just to dump her? Man, the place in hell ain’t big enough.

I am so glad I gave up on this show months ago. I would have hated to have to through something at my TV.

  9. Ro on March 3rd, 2009 9:55 am

I was really disturbed about how this all went down. I kept trying to wrap my head around it, because it was all very cruel and hard to watch.

From what it seemed like to me, Molly and Jason were both in on it and poor Melissa got screwed.

Guess what Molly? He just wants you because he realized all of a sudden he can’t have you. And have some tact….kissing him less than an hour after he not only broke up with Melissa, but also got back the ENGAGEMENT RING reeks of desperation.

Whats to say he’s not going to go after Jillian next? Or perhaps leave you if his ex-wife comes back into his life?

  11. Military Wife on March 3rd, 2009 11:18 am

Okay…Jason you cry like a girl! What a scammer you are! Molly, give me a break! Please tell me that she isn’t stupid enough to go along with this crap. I thought she was this smart, career oriented person. Guess she’s not so smart if she actually did plot this with the producers and Jason. Poor Melissa. She called him a bast*r*…he deserved it! What a jerk and to think he has a son. Oh my gosh…and then Dianna shows up. Who’s to say he isn’t going to dump Molly in six weeks and hook up with Dianna. This show irritated me to no end last night. These producers are in it for the money and I just hope that Melissa wasn’t in the dark…..if she was then hello….Jason you are a public humiliator! Oh and my hubby is military and he said Jason cries like a girl! He’s not a real man! He’s so FAKE!

When Melissa called Jason a bastard on national TV, I almost fell out of my chair because I was laughing so hard. Jason was just crowned King D-bag in my book.

  13. mindy59 on March 3rd, 2009 6:59 pm

Last nite, was the only show I watched with my wife, and I guess I feel really sorry for Melissa, but disappointed she didnt demand to keep the ring. I heard it was one of a kind and should have been at a least a good farewell gift from the sponsors.
If Melissa was a really “whol”, she would have slapped that bastard on national wide tv , and given all the women out there some satisfaction. OMG Jason, you have loving, sex with her for weeks up to this reserval too.

  14. Kat on March 3rd, 2009 7:16 pm

Ha! Jason is a total loser and that whole After the Rose thing seemed insanely fake.

Did y’all see Jason on Jimmy Kimmel? He seemed really flippant about the whole thing if you ask me: http://squareeyes.blinkx.com/?p=403

  15. Lisa on March 3rd, 2009 7:32 pm

jason, Your a GIANT assholee, asshat ( I like that) and all around ASS. Wait, Molly will dump you after she she’s what a derk your are (dic- and jerk mixed!)

I’m taking a theology course with a focus on marriage. Our teacher has been telling us for weeks that there is a huge difference between “true love” the commitment between husband and wife and “in love” infatuation. When I came into class today the Bachelor was the topic of conversation. My teacher said and I quote “My wife and I laughed our asses off at this sad mistake of a relationship. That is so not love in any way shape or form.” I completely agree the whole crying breakdown thing after Molly left and then at after the final rose he needed to walk of set and take a minute after breaking up with his fiance on NATIONAL TV was so fake. He is such a jerk. Plus I know its not right to judge someone I don’t even know but he dragged his son through his first appearence on the Bachelorette, then a proposal on the Bachelor, then a new relationship with a girl he already dumped this kid is going to have serious issues when he is older.

  17. Bravo on March 3rd, 2009 8:23 pm

Let’s assume for a second that the whole thing was not contrived by some reality show writers and producers.
What if Jason really wanted to be with Melissa when he gave her the ring. If he were to have a change of heart or realized he made a mistake, would the better solution have been to just pretend that all was ok…marry her…and then be divorced a couple of months.

Then everyone would vilify him for allowing the relationship to continue on for so long. The women out there sound a little bitter to me. Granted he could have chosen to tell her of his change of heart in private but all of the women on the show went onto the show knowing full well that anything that happened would be on national TV. So they should not be surprised when he decided to cut her loose on national TV.

So if he stayed with Melissa when he realized he didn’t really love her…he’s a douche bag. And if he breaks it off with her when he realizes that he doesn’t really love her…he’s a douche bag.

Interesting conundrum. Get over it ladies…if the roles were reversed, there would plenty of you out there applauding Melissa for being such a strong independent woman.

    RIGHT ON SISTER!!!!!!
    I agree one-hundred percent!

  19. Kimber on March 3rd, 2009 10:56 pm

Never seen an episode of The Batchelor, never wanted to. But I heard about this “switch-aroo” on Ellen today, and was mortified! I mean, sure, reality TV is almost all crap, but this guy … wow. Asshat is about the only term that I can think of too.

  20. Brandi on June 3rd, 2009 1:56 pm

I would just like to say that you all are bashing Jason but what do you think the point of reality tv is? It is to entertain and to make money. Of course the producer what to do what makes money and these women know what they are getting into going on this show. I think that they made the choice to go on the show and Jason is not a horrible father because he was involved in this. These women did not meet his child and Ty was only on camera with his father. I think there are people in the world doing much worse to their children and there is no need to bash this guy because he took part in entertaining the world. (By the way is exactly what actors do and we watch their movies) So keep complaining about the producers trying to make money but don’t you realize that the movie industry is doing the same thing and making millions. Hellloooo.
Don’t watch it if you don’t like it.
