Watch SOUTHLAND Premiere Right Here, Right Now

April 2, 2009 by

Last week NBC sent along to me a screener for the series premiere of it’s new drama SOUTHLAND starring THE O.C.’s Benjamine MacKenzie.  I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but you don’t have to wait for me to tell you whether or not it’s worth your time. You can watch it for yourself, right now.

So this time around YOU be the critic. Watch SOUTHLAND. Leave your reviews in the comments below and I will feature some of your thoughts in an upcoming post on GiveMeMyRemote.com.

Southland premieres on NBC next Thursday at 10/9c.

About SOUTHLAND…
From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, “Southland” is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz (“A River Runs Through It”) plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop, assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Benjamin McKenzie, “The O.C.”). Cooper’s honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

Cudlitz and McKenzie are joined by other cast members, including Regina King (“Ray,” “Jerry Maguire”), who plays Detective Lydia Adams. Adams lives with and is the primary caregiver of her mother. Her partner, Detective Russell Clarke (Tom Everett Scott, “Boiler Room”) is an unhappily married father of three. Michael McGrady (“The Thin Red Line”) plays Detective Daniel “Sal” Salinger. Sal oversees fellow gang detectives Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro, “Drive,” “Ugly Betty”) and Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy, “Alpha Dog”). Arija Bareikis (“Crossing Jordan”) plays patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.

Thanks for the embedded vid. I’m not sure I would have watched it otherwise, but I’m having a really slow day at work. It actually surprised me. It’s not bad.

Love that reunion between Benjamin McKenzie and “Crazy Oliver”! Kinda made my night. I like the documentary style direction, the cast (Hellooo, C. Thomas Howell; how I’ve missed ye), and the writing. It’s hard to form a solid opinion based on one episode but it certainly sparked my interest. I’ll be tuning in to see more episodes:)

I just don’t know if I can make myself watch a cop drama.
And can anyone actually watch an embedded video for 45 minutes? If you go to Hulu, you can watch it in full screen mode.

Billiam, if the screen size bothered you why didn’t you just enlarge it to the full screen? All you have to do is to click on the full screen icon in the top right corner?

Enjoyed it very much! Have cops in our family and so far this looks very promising…

I watched this episode of SOUTHLAND last night, and it was great. It has everything I like in cop/crime drama. All I kept saying throughout the show was “OMG, I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED”. You’ve got to watch it, you will be on the edge of your seat.
