RIP Michael Jackson - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

RIP Michael Jackson

June 25, 2009 by

Despite the bizarre behavior and controversy…he was perhaps the single most important musical influence of my generation. I’m going to leave the tributes to others. For me, I’ll just share some special Michael Jackson moments.

He pretty much shows what happens to young child stars….say what you want to about him but I think what we should remember is his music. From the Jackson 5 to his solo career, the music he left behind is UNBELIEVABLE. There is so many lifes that would not be the same without his music. I just really hope everyone leaves his kids alone…

I never knew the Wade Robson connection but in watching the Thriller video a few months ago I was struck by how ‘robson’ the choreography was. Thanks for pointing out the connection as it all makes sense now in terms of Wade’s inspiration. Does anyone know who choreoographed it, was it Michael himself?

I grew up with the Jackson Five and ‘I’ll Be There’ is my personal all time favorite and have been getting oddly misty during a commercial that has been running with it as its theme of late. Music has a way of bringing us to a place and time.

I think poor Michael was a real life Benjamin Button = born an old mature little man who grew younger with age to his own detriment.

The newsies last night said as time passes his legacy will swing more towards remembering the genius than the problems he had. I totally agree. Rest in peace, Michael.

I think Thriller was choreographed by a guy named Michael Peters. He also did the choreography for the movie Sister Act II. (I had to teach a Peters number in my choreographic styles class in college.)

So what does everyone think about Michael Jackson not being buried on his Neverland Ranch? Did he need to specify this in his will to have it done? Or is it a decision for his beneficiaries to make? I am very curious.
