About Last Night…GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, FLASH FORWARD and more…

October 2, 2009 by

I almost made it.  I almost watched all the shows I recorded on Thursday night.  Sadly I came up a little short and didn’t get to FLASH FORWARD or SUPERNATURAL (the latter because of a MAJOR technology FAIL – luckily Nicole has SPN covered and her review will be posted shortly.) But just because I didn’t get to watch all the show, doesn’t mean we can’t chat about them.

But first let’s make sure you are all caught up on the Thursday night show’s we did watch.

Join in on the conversation…
Seels shared her thoughts on last night’s episode of BONES.  Gretchen entered the scary yet fascinating world of FRINGE and lived to tell about it (although what world she came back to I’m not sure).  I provided an overly verbose look at last night’s episode of THE OFFICE. And SB vamped it up with the teens of Mystic Falls in her weekly take on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

Stay Tuned…
Like I said, Nicole is busy writing up her thoughts on last night’s SUPERNATURAL, while Erik fell down into the pit and is working his way out while putting together his take on PARKS & RECREATION.  As for COMMUNITY, well it seems not everyone is on the same page.  Stay tuned to hear what Erik and SB have to say when they duke it out over the new show.

As for Thursday’s other favorites…

There’s nothing like the threat of layoffs to really send people scrambling.  Maybe the diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic wasn’t the only one suffering from that disorder on last night’s GREY’S ANATOMY. The employees of Seattle Grace Hospital were in full on panic mode last night in an effort to save their jobs.  Of course patient care and protocol was being compromised all across the board, but as long as the doctors keep their jobs then it’s all ok, right? I actually enjoyed this episode more than I did last week’s season premiere, but I’m not sure if that’s saying all that much. We all know that the merger storyline is a way to bring fresh blood into the show, and from that angle I thought the episode worked really well.  I’m interested to see who they bring in, especially with the upcoming mini-departures of Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl. Per usual, all the best moments went to Dr. Bailey. Chandra Wilson knocked it out of the park towards the end when she was explaining to the schizophrenic patient how important it was that he have the surgery. Izzie with the wig storyline bored me, but the way Alex took care of her woo’d me.  And there’s nothing like some beer swilling and baseball playing before you head back into the hospital. And Obama thinks insurance is the health care crisis in the country.

I saw last night’s season premiere of PRIVATE PRACTICE a few weeks back, and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I thought the direction and the editing were particularly well done. The integration of the flashbacks as well as those tiny editing choices really added to the storytelling.  Maybe you all are a bit sharper than me, but until the very end I really didn’t know if the baby was going to live or not.  I didn’t doubt that Violet was going to make it, but the baby?  I’m happy that he’s alive, and I’m more intrigued than ever to find out who the father is.  Since it was Pete who declared his love for Violet, it seems that maybe the baby will be Sheldon’s, if only for the natural drama it sets up.  I’m actually ok with that. I’m still pulling for Violet and Pete to have a happily ever after, and the baby not being Pete’s makes that all a bit easier.  Kate Walsh and Paul Adelstein really pulled off some great emotional moments last night.  Kudos.  What I wasn’t a fan of was the set up for Dell (Chris Lowell) to take a break from the practice…and the show.  I love Dell.

Sorry kids, but I wasn’t able to watch FLASH FORWARD last night.  It’s on the DVR just waiting for me.  Did you all watch?  Are you digging the show?  What’s working and what’s not?

Did you watch THE MENTALIST? CSI? What about IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA or SURVIVOR?

If you’re a fan of any of these shows then I’m sure other GMMR readers are too.  Share your thoughts on last night’s episodes and connect with other fans.

I enjoyed Grey’s Anatomy but I definitely think it was a transitional episode so I’m looking forward to seeing where it’s going. Alex was soo cute in this episode!! and I lovedd the part when Lexie tells Christina she admires her and that she’s pretty and Christina gives her the pudding lol. I also liked the part when Christina says “this is Mr. Bear, he eats kids.”, so funnyy. I thought Private Practice was really good too. I think the editing was good, as well, and I saw the whole Pete’s wife’s funeral thing. I reallyy hope it’s Pete’s baby just because I don’t really like Sheldon, haha. I haven’t watch Flashforward either, but it’s on my list, with Fringe.

I only got to watch Private Practice, but it was enjoyable. I liked the coffin scene flashback giving us doubts about who died. It was a nice way to give a backstory while also using that to keep the current story in question. Of course, Naomi had to wear a big black hat to cover up her “9-years ago” hair.

I care less and less about Survivor as the seasons go by. Maybe because there was a couple of really great seasons that I know they won’t be able to live up to (yea Ozzy!). I hope they do their auction fundraiser at the end of the finale episode to give back to Samoa after the tsunami.

not sure if you are talking Project Runway this week, but i liked this week’s episode for the most part. In case you haven’t seen it, I won’t say much more, except that i was happy to have M.K. back.

Liked Greys…really like Private Practice. Don’t like Dell’s storyline, so I’m ok if he goes away. Really liked everybody in the episode except Addison – kind of annoying that she single handedly saved the day…but overall a cool episode. Interesting to see the start up of the practice. So does this mean Naomi isn’t going anywhere?

Flash Forward was great…I am really liking it so far. I do feel like it has potential to become a replacement for Lost for me once that show ends…we’ll see!!!
