Angry Pam, whatever the justification for the anger, just isn't much fun to watch. (Some people are suggesting that it's just the pregnancy hormones, but the writers really don't seem to be indicating that.) I love the show for lines like "I'm not robbing the cradle, if anything I'm... robbing the grave", but not for generic, heavily scripted comedy like Dwight and Andy repeatedly one-upping each other until it builds to a predictable climax at the end of the half-hour. Part of the appeal of the show has always been that it DOESN'T have to shove its characters into neat little sitcom setups like that in order to be hilarious. Some of the best episodes don't even have much in the way of a plot, just a bunch of somewhat related stuff that happens. (Although some others do, so it's not a hard and fast rule.)
