Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, November 29, 2009

November 29, 2009 by

Listen up! I haven’t left the house in ten days. I haven’t slept for more than 3 consecutive hours in at least two weeks. And right now it’s 1am on Sunday and I’m hopped up on caffeine (I tried some reverse psychology on the insomnia and the insomnia kicked my ass). So let’s talk TV.

I’m gonna throw a bunch of Sunday night shows at ya, and you’re going to click on the little ‘Comment’ button below and tell me what you’re watching. Got it? (Wow, I’m a bad ass when I don’t sleep. Or maybe it’s the percocet…who cares. Do what I say!) Aw, I’m just kidding. Or maybe not. Dare to find out.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition | 8pm on ABC
“Marshall Family”
Ty’s team rebuilds the moldy, rotting home of a large New Hampshire family; Patrick Dempsey is the celebrity volunteer. [GMMR: Extreme Makeover is usually relegated to the ‘Also Playing’ section of the post, but when McDreamy makes a visit, I felt it was worthy of the top entry.]

The Amazing Race 15 | 8pm on CBS
“It Starts with an F, That’s All I’m Saying”
Unable to complete a roadblock, one team decides to take a four-hour penalty; a team dodges intoxicated locals while trying to complete the detour. [GMMR: If you’re a fan of TAR and BIG BROTHER click here for some fun news. Oh, and keep an eye out for a tweet from me about the start time of TAR. If football goes long (get it…goes long) then you’ll have to adjust the DVR to not miss the end of TAR.]

The 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Concert | 8pm on HBO
Concerts at Madison Square Garden commemorate the institution; performers include Jeff Beck Band, Aretha Franklin, Metallica, Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, U2, Stevie Wonder, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. [GMMR: You had me at Bruce.]

The Cleveland Show | 8:30pm on Fox
From Bed to Worse
Cleveland and Donna are excited to have the house to themselves when Cleveland Jr. and Roberta are away, but disgruntled Rallo does whatever it takes to keep them apart.

Family Guy | 9pm on Fox
“Dog Gone”
Brian tries to convince everyone that a dog’s life should have the same value as a human’s; Lois hires a maid, who does not listen to Peter.

Desperate Housewives | 9pm on ABC
“Would I Think of Suicide?”
Following another attack, Angie decides it is time for her family to leave Wisteria Lane; Bree’s affair with Karl becomes increasingly difficult to hide; Lynette’s pregnancy causes a rift with Gaby. [GMMR: Holla if you’re still hanging on Wisteria Lane. The discussion thread for DH has been a little light.]

More of tonight’s lineup after the break…

Dexter | 9pm on Showtime
“Lost Boys”
Just when Dexter figures he has a full understanding of the heinous Trinity Killer, a 10-year-old boy goes missing and Dexter must rethink his strategy in a race to find the youngster. Elsewhere, Cody feels the need to defend one of his stepfather’s lies. [GMMR: One of these days I will watch you, Dexter. One of these days. What season is this? I only have S1 on DVD.]

Brothers & Sisters | 10pm on ABC
“Pregnant Pause”
Rebecca has a secret that could make or break her relationship with Justin; Holly’s financial situation worsens; Sarah becomes jealous of Nora’s new romance. [GMMR: I watched this episode on Saturday night and it was good. Dave Annable brings the juice tonight. So glad B&S is back on track this season. Now if they could only get rid of Ryan and that ridiculous storyline. Ugh.]

Californication | 10pm on Showtime
“Dogtown”
Hank takes Charlie out for a night of drinking after the agent loses his job, but their revelry hits a rough-and-tough spot when they wind up in the middle of a convenience-store armed robbery. Meanwhile, Karen, Becca and Marcy enjoy a girls’ night out.

Also playing…

  • The Simpsons | 8pm on Fox: While wandering in a field after getting lost, Lisa discovers three teenage girls who are practicing Wiccans; Homer hangs out with Cleatus and his friends.
  • A Dog Named Christmas | 8pm on CBS: A mentally challenged man embarks on a mission to find homes for dogs during the holidays. Based on a novel by Greg Kincaid. Starring: Bruce Greenwood, Noel Fisher, Linda Emond, Peter Werner, Jenny Wingfield [GMMR: Who? And more importantly…why?]

Ok, I’m waiting….

Oh poor Kathy! You sound like Michael all hopped up on Pretzel Day! Do you you need someone to rub butter on it? Do you have Country Crock? (LOL…)

Still watching DH here, but I find myself caring less and less. I hope the plane crash spices things up a bit. (When is that happening??)

Really, though, with the holiday madness I have barely had time to keep up with my (seriously overworked) DVR. I’m lucky to keep up with my very favorites, let alone a sideline show like DH.

Hope you feel 100% better soon!

I second Michele in saying that its so hard to find time to watch tv this time of the year…I already one of my family christmas next weekend! Eek!! I know its probably going to be stupid but tonight Im watching “The Dog that Saved Christmas” on ABC Family. I think its like “home alone” but with a dog instead of the boy being left at home…haha. It looks cute! I just love chesse-y holiday movies!

Michelle- Ha ha! Yes, a little loopy last night.

Lizzydee- I’m sure the dog movie will be adorable. Enjoy it. Sometimes those movies are great this time if year.

Don’t want to risk the Wrath of Kath so I’m commenting. 😉

Hopefully Dempsey wields a hammer as well as he does a scalpel. I bet he looks cute in a hardhat and safety glasses..

Mom’s super pumped for B&S. I don’t watch it, but apparently the Ally McBeal character has the exact same condition my mom does. I got a little worried at first because you never know what they’ll do to a character but my mom is actually enjoying it and kind of feels like they’re fighting together. Kinda cool.

I knew I could be a bad ass if I tried!

Nothing but good thoughts to your mom.

Dexter is only on season 4 and each season is 12 episodes … it’ll be wayy easier than catching up with supernatural was. you can do it! 🙂

  7. Andrew on November 29th, 2009 5:05 pm

Watch Californication and Dexter on Sundays. I tried Three Rivers for a while but they needed to transplant a heart into my body for me to be able to watch it. Now that TV’s in reruns for a while. I can catch up with some of the shows I missed like Mad Men and Breaking Bad and I hope a christmas special for I.T Crowd comes out love that show. Hope your feeling better. If you do get insomnia again. I would watch my DVR stuff till I fall right back to sleep again. Do you think women are more avid tv watchers then males or vice versa?

  8. Randi on November 29th, 2009 6:30 pm

I still watch DH but it’s only out of desperation for something to watch in that time slot. Really not interested anymore.
