24 – Day 8: 12:00am – 1:00am

There were some unexpected twists and turns this week and we bid what seemed like a fond farewell to a truly awful storyline.

Debrief

  • Sergei and Jack called Josef and offered him immunity for the nuclear rods. He agreed, then was shot by Farhad’s men. Farhad took the rods and went to a facility to transport them. Once there, Farhad’s men decided that since they could no longer get the rods out of the country, they would use them to attack New York. Farhad disagreed with their plan, escaped, and called CTU for rescue.
  • Rob Weiss called Hastings. Since Rob vouched for Hastings and the reformation of CTU, his neck is on the line as well as everyone else’s. He proposes to let someone from the Department of Justice set Renee up to take the fall for all of the failures that have occurred so far. Jack returns and stops them before getting tazed trying to escape. He is about to leave before Hastings realizes Jack’s value to him at CTU. Jack agrees to stay as long as Renee is released and is cleared of all charges.
  • Dana follows Kevin and the other guy into the woods. She stares at them just long enough for Cole to stop her from killing them. Dana explains everything to Cole and Cole threatens the two. Kevin is about to obey before his buddy stabs him and is eventually shot by Cole.

Agent Philboy’s Assessment

Wow, I thought we would have Josef for longer than 10 minutes. I wasn’t shocked, since anything can happen in “24,” but I was a little bit surprised. My thoughts then went to finding a reason for Jack to stick around. Renee was the perfect conduit for that, but I’m not sure that any romantic relationship between Jack and Renee isn’t a little forced. And maybe romance is just being assumed on my part, but I think the reality is that Jack sees a lot of himself in Renee and wants to be with her for anything that might happen in life.

There might only be a handful of shows with new episodes tonight, but given what shows they are, it’s all good by me!

Of course I’m excited about LOST. I’m going to take notes this week, because I don’t want to ‘Fiona Faraday’ up this time. (If you’re a LOST fan and you haven’t listened to last week’s ‘Two Idiots Talk Lost’ podcast, then be sure to tune in. We really had so much this week.)

I’m over the moon about the first real night of competition on IDOL. Ellen’s first night LIVE judging. This is going to be so much fun! We always have a great discussion on performance and results night, so I hope you’ll join in and let me know what you think.

Huey Lewis Remakes “We Are The World” (Video)

February 22, 2010 by

We’re not sure how Justin Bieber got the call to be part of the 2010 “We Are the World” remake, but Huey Lewis, one of the original performers from the original version was left of the gust list. For shame. For shame.

Huey Lewis isn’t bitter (although we are still waiting to hear from ‘the News’). Huey decided to take on the classic himself, and he didn’t need the help of Lil Wayne to make his version spectacular. Huey Lewis is the world. He is the children.

A much watch video!

GLEE Cast To Perform at The White House

Comments Off on GLEE Cast To Perform at The White House

I wonder if it’s too late for my dad to become President. Seriously, Sasha and Malia have it made. The Jonas Brothers pop by for the first night in their new house, and now they’re spending Easter with the cast of GLEE.

According to Michael Ausiello, Michelle Obama and her daughters are big fans of GLEE, and as such they’ve invited the cast to perform at annual White House Easter Egg roll on April 5th. Looks like New Directions will be making the trek from McKinley High to D.C. for the big event.

Come on, Dad. I know you’re retired and all, but can’t you just throw your hat in the ring? I really want New Kids on the Block to perform “Funky Funky Christmas” at our Christmas party next year. If you loved me you’d make it happen, Daddy.

Look Who is Hanging Out on the Set of CHUCK!

Just another reason I love Twitter.  CHUCK star Zachary Levi twittered his followers this nerdgasmic pic taken earlier today.  Looks like the boys of FIREFLY are reuniting, at least for the day.  Jayne and Mal together again? This picture of Adam Baldwin, Nathan Fillion, Yvonne Strahovski and Zac Levi is beyond awesome in so many ways.

Note: My sources confirmed that Nathan Fillion isn’t guesting on CHUCK. He was just on set. But there’s always hope, right?

THE AMAZING RACE: ‘When the Cow Kicked Me in the Head’ Recap

February 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Amazing Race, TV News

Oh that feeling of dread when you think you are being slick by letting your DVR record a few minutes ahead so you can miss those dang commercials, only to discover that the red light isn’t on the machine and your show isn’t recording. Yup, that’s what happened to me last night. Luckily, I was only about 5 minutes late to THE AMAZING RACE. Usually nothing much of anything happens in the first five minutes. I hope that was the case tonight. Fingers crossed.

When I tuned in the teams were heading to Porta Varas. Joe & Heidi and Carol & Brandy (who I keep reading as Carol Brady) decided to team up to be the most hated teams in the competition. Seriously, could they be more cocky and obnoxious? Joe & Heidi were in line for bus tickets when Louie & Michael (The Detectives) showed up. Joe insisted that he was saving a spot in line for Carol & Brandy and wouldn’t let the guys go ahead any buy tickets. Um, no. It’s not the cafeteria lunch line, it’s The Amazing Race. Why the two detectives let that fly is beyond me. Not only did they let Carol & Brandy go ahead, but Joe snagged the last four tickets on the first bus. Here’s to hoping the detectives learned their lesson. Next time, they need to crack a few skulls.

GREEK Back on Campus for Season 4

Sorry I’m turning my homework in a little late on this one. The dog ate my laptop?

Looks like we’ll all going back to school next year. On the brink of flunking out, ABC Family has put GREEK on academic probation, picking up the series for 10 episodes next season.  I’m not complaining about the 10 eps, I’ll take what I can get.

How’s that for good news? Party at the KT’s!!

Close Your Eyes and Laugh – The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO

February 21, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Ricky Gervais Show

I’ve been quite vocal of my almost hero-like worship of Ricky Gervais. The man who brought me two of my favorite comedies of all time (“The Office” and “Extras”) brought his uber-popular podcast to HBO with the premiere of THE RICKY GERVAIS SHOW this past Friday.

To perhaps bring new life to these previously recorded podcasts, HBO has animated the series, allowing viewers to watch, not just listen to these laugh out loud, knee-slapping conversations. THE RICKY GERVAIS SHOW features Gervais, Stephen Merchant (co-creator of “The Office” & “Extras”) and Karl Pilkington (original podcast producer) discussing a wide variety of bizarre topics not seemingly related to anything.

SMALLVILLE: Persuasion

Hey Smallville fans! Did you see Lois morph into June Cleaver? Or what about Clark’s new bodyguard Chloe out to protect him against everything and everyone, including Lois. And while this domestic nightmare plays out Clark is up against Zod with only 2 day to go before a possible apocalypse blows through town.

Now back to Lois, who seems to be scaring Clark more than a bunch of super powered Kandorians! Lois has decided to quite her job and makes pot roast! All she wants is for Clark to make an honest woman out of her. So she moves in and awaits there pending engagement. Something that Chloe is dead set against. Chloe, under the command of Clark, is angry and bitter, and tells Lois to leave Clark. After having a break down with Clark, Lois calms down with the promise that they’ll be together forever and turns into Bridezilla! After she calls her whole family and Mrs. Kent, Lois spends most her time dancing around in her soon to be Mother in-law’s wedding gown!

Zod and Tess are still going at it. Tess is routing for Clark and his attempts save Kandorians a new life with new identities. Tess is only on board to see that the Kandorians help earth live on, and what she doesn’t realize is that she’ll kill CK’s powers when everything goes into full effect. Zod’s storyline really threw me off here. There were so many twists and turns I’m still not sure he fell under the influence of Clark’s persuasion giving us the whole truth. I also find it a little hard to take Callum Blue serious in this role after watching him on “Dead Like Me.”.
