SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Judge Mia Michaels Says AdeChike Should’ve Been in Week 1’s Bottom 3

June 18, 2010 by

Backstage at SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE on Thursday (June 17) night, Mia Michaels was not mincing words… not that she or any of the regular judges ever do.

When asked how she felt about week 1’s bottom 3, she spoke up willingly: “I actually was shocked at Cristina [being in that position]. I thought [it should’ve been] AdeChike. For me, he didn’t show any personality and I feel he’s very stiff in his movement. You know, I hope he gets better. I mean, that’s what the show’s about: getting better every single week. So hopefully he will.”

Regarding week one eliminee, Alexie, Michaels said she was disappointed in both her hip hop performance as well as her solo, because she was missing that fierceness and she’s better than that: “I don’t know if it was nerves, I don’t know if it was intimidation, I’m kind of baffled by it.”

So who is Mia’s early favorite to win it all? “Alex,” she answered, without hesitation. “He’s perfect. And you know what I’m so happy about is that he actually has a personality. I’m so happy about that, because he was a little bit more quiet in the beginning, but now he’s coming out [of his shell] and I think he’s becoming really proud of himself. He’s starting to see that he is good and I love that. I feel like he’s strapping on his wings and now he’s ready to soar.”

But at the top of Michaels’ personality chart this season is, without a doubt, Kent. “Kent’s personality is hilarious. He’s just Kent!,” she exclaimed. “That’s it, that’s just all you have to say!”

Mia’s fellow judges are in agreement, as Nigel Lythgoe expressed the same sentiment during my backstage interview with him, noting the dance perfection of Alex and the personality of Kent, hoping that the two different traits will somehow come together in one dancer this season.

And what do you guys think?

Are you on the same page as Mia and Nigel?

And who is your early favorite?

And how happy are you that it’s summer, aka SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE season, once again?

My favorites so far are Lauren and Kent. They’re both incredible dancers and SOOO cute! 🙂 Somehow I can’t warm up to Alex. He has terrific technique, but I don’t think he brings much of a personality into his dancing. I am also really starting to like Robert. I gotta say I barely noticed him before, but he is kinda gorgeous.

  2. Andie on June 19th, 2010 9:52 am

Mia is absolutely on the money. Go Alex!

  3. Katie on June 19th, 2010 11:54 am

Alex won’t win the best technical dancer never wins and frankly he’s boring.

  4. bb on June 20th, 2010 12:36 am

I think the camerawork has done a real disservice to the dancers. The cameras pull too far back too often or are focus on the wrong angle. It’s difficult to watch the dancers’ nuances. Very frustrating.

  5. gia on June 20th, 2010 12:46 am

While Mia thinks that Adechike should have been bottom 3, I think Anthony Burrell should have been in the top 11 – but it seems clear the judges and the show want Alex to win and Anthony would have intereferred with that . So Mia – sometimes we don’t get what we want and I am glad the judges can’t manipulate things (but I am sure they do and will)

  6. gia on June 20th, 2010 12:48 am

Also Korbi – I have followed you since your E! days and glad you are on GMMR – I love the GMMR podcast and glad you are in the company of awesome people- congrats!

  7. Guest on June 20th, 2010 1:28 am

ahhh…people need to stop talking about Anthony Burrell – he was cut, we don’t know why – end of discussion. Seriously, any number of things could have happened in Vegas – we don’t even know how versatile he is/was – we didn’t see much of his dancing to be honest. I’m sure he’ll be back next season. This season is NOT about him.

  8. LouLou on June 20th, 2010 2:17 pm

I think Alex is very expressive when he dances. If they try to pull that stupid “no personality” crap like they did with Travis, Danny and Jakob, who like Alex are all funny personable guys, I’m going to be annoyed. Right now my top two are Alex and Robert. Agree that Adechike should have been the one to go.

  9. korbi on June 21st, 2010 8:47 am

    thanks, Gia!!

  10. Amanda on June 21st, 2010 2:12 pm

Totally agree with Mia that AdeChike should have been in the bottom 3 instead of Cristina. I love Alex and think he definitely deserves a spot in the finale, but I actually would put my money on Kent to win it all. His technique is almost as good as Alex’s, and his personality just totally won me over. I agree it seems like very often the technically best dancer doesn’t win (so awful when Sabra beat Danny and Lacey). But I’m hoping Alex and Kent go far (and Robert too, he definitely tore it up in that African dance routine). Can’t wait for this week’s ep!

  11. Bunnie on June 22nd, 2010 12:36 am

Alex for #1. He’s been an awesome dancer since… forever.

  12. judy on July 7th, 2010 9:05 pm

I think mia is prejudice and I would like to see Mary back on I think she was a better judge of dance.Bring Mary back please

  13. Laurie on July 7th, 2010 9:37 pm

I dont like Mia Michaels. She is way too opinionated and biased. She is hurtful and needlesS in her criticisms. None of them are productive or helpful to the dancer that she ‘downs’ . For her to say that she really thinkS she made a mistake in her last weeks choice of saving the ‘wrong’ dancer was ridiculous and unecessary. PLEASE FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR HER. SHE IS A DOWNER AND A PRIMA DONNA.

  14. dlo on July 7th, 2010 9:43 pm

I also think Mia is prejudice–last season she wanted to eliminate the
black dancer who took 2nd place in the finale at the very beginning of
the show. Had it not been for Mary Murphy he would have been
eliminated. Mia should stick to choreography and leave judging to
those who see past skin color–namely the other judges.

  15. tunya on July 7th, 2010 9:54 pm

Mia Michaels is extremely critical and unecessarily so. In fact some of her so called suggestions for improvement seem to be more of a personal attack. Please please please bring Mary Murphy back only then will the show be at it’s previous caliber!!!

  16. Kylie on July 7th, 2010 10:35 pm

Bring Mary back! Mia Michaels should return to choreography where she had a positive impact on the show. I do not enjoy her as a judge. She gives contradictory feedback, and more importantly, she is critical beyond the point of being helpful to the dancers.

  17. Fran on July 8th, 2010 12:28 am

I think Mia should consider stepping down as judge and let someone who has more constructive criticism take over. I hate to think that she has some deeper issues that clouds her judgement..remember Brandon from past seasons.

  18. Fran on July 8th, 2010 12:29 am

Oh and may I add Go Cat, I was so proud of her!

  19. Dancer on July 8th, 2010 12:48 am

Mia Michaels should not be a judge on this show. She has a problem with black male dancers, and its bordering on racism. On tonight’s show, every dance that AdeChik did she was extremely hard on him, she and Nigel even exchanged a few words because he liked his first dance. When he did his Bollywood routine, she again was extremely harsh, going so for as to say she wish Alex was able to dance, insinuating that he was a better dancer than AdeChik. Thank GOD for Cat, Im glad she spoke up about last week’s Bollywood routine with Jose, even though he messed up several times, Mia said she loved it, and her response to that was that his personality just drew her in, now Im correct in assuming that this is a dance show and not a personality show. I have watched this show since the beginning, and now that Mia is a judge me and my group of Purple Hat club members all 7,000 of us will no longer watch. Get rid of Mia Michaels and get a fair judge!!!

  20. snad on July 8th, 2010 12:53 am

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back MARY!!!!!! She was helpful to the dancers and not breaking their spirits…She is just NASTY!!!!!!!!

  21. snad on July 8th, 2010 12:54 am

Mia should go back into the dance room and teach and not judge i don’t know who her critisims HELP!!!!

  23. trish on July 8th, 2010 3:09 am

Mia should not be a judge. thanks Cat for politeness to all the dancers. I can’t stand people who have gotten ahead in their careers by someone giving them a change only; it’s not that they were so perfect, since there is no such thing in creative arts. Dance teachers steel so many moves and dance styles from creative kids of the streets, etc. especially from city kids. Then to sit and judge some of the dances as if they know everything; even trying to use all of the cool slangs that the ethnic groups use, sounds as if they want to appear younger and hip. When Mia starts out talking to the dancer that are of a ligher skin color, even if the dance was boring, she starts out soft and positive, however when she speaks to most of the black dancers she is as harsh as dirt. She told one of the most creative, polished dancers on the show, that he had a fake smile, when the guy only had front teeth that shaped his face a little differently. Then someone made the comment that african dance never has pointed toes. I’ve seen many african dance movements with pointed toes. Let’s not forget where civilization/ music/dance all started from. Whenever some of you washed up folks get an opportunity to sit on a panel and get paid good money to be a judge, you start to believe you are so smart and perfect. Most of the time you give conflicting information to the contestants. Stinkers, get some humility and less fake crying when you are trying to sway the viewer votes. Shame on you all for trying to crush dreams. That goes for “dancing with the stars”, “american idol” “so you think you can dance” and america’s best dance crew”. I don’t know how you sleep at night. I give the darker skin men and women high marks for self control on all of those shows when judges just sling dodo all over them. Thank God sometimes the viewers get it right and say “hell no, we disagree w/the judges”; even the audience is embrassed for the judges ugly comments. Mia was trying to save alex by throwing someone else under the bus. Bring back Debbie or Mary !!!

  24. Sandi on July 8th, 2010 10:01 am

Mia Micheals used to be a favorite of mine. I am sooo pass that now and concur with others who think she should step down from judging. I thought she was unnecessarily cruel and bias against Adechike last night. It was seriously incredible to hear the negative critique that he was given last night. When Jose did his second dance and was so horrible–NONE of the judges had the integrity to give him the same level of critique. “you got through it” was laughable–it was painful to watch and I’m not sure I can continue. When Cat pointed out the double standard I was extremely dissapointed that Nigel accused Adechike of “not accepting the criticism”. UNBELIEVABLE!! I was so glad that the audience openly disagreed. I hope that America did not let Mia’s nastiness effect their votes because I do not believe that Adechike deserved what he got. The Alex comments were unneccesary, unconstructiv,e and showed your true heart Mia. Carrying the title of “Judge” implies that you will look at all efforts using the same criteria. Oh, and the comment about his eyes being “weird “. REALLY! What about “I lost my contact lens on the bar” during the first dance did you not hear?

  25. Steph on July 8th, 2010 2:25 pm

Mia Michaels is trying to make a Simon Cowell-like name for herself on the show. Simon can get away with it — mostly b/c he didn’t display racial bias towards contestants. I think she’s terrible and should be replaced. Her comments about missing Alex and the previous week’s comments about feeling they’d made a mistake in eliminating the latina girl (I forget her name) were uncalled for.

  26. Ronda on July 8th, 2010 2:28 pm

Ok, Mia is a phenonomal choreography and for that reason I thought she’d be a good judge. I was wrong!!! As I watch this season[I’ve seen them all], I noticed how judgemental she is with the black dancers. Last season and the season before that she was quite vocal in her negetive observation from the on set. She has accused dancer of having bad attutides and being aggrogent, Danny, 1st runner up, Anthony [winner], and now Adechike. Based on the out come from previous seasons…she don’t know what she’s talking about. I suppose she is basing that on her own foul disposition. Last nights show was more than I could bear. Between her fake ass tears, and foul ass comments that only help to serve her over sized ego, I don’t see where she has provided any positive or constructive criticisms. She should be ashame of her messy self. This field has always been hard to break into, [espeially for African Americans], and I’m sure she has had a taste of the very same venom she so freely spits at dancers she obviously don’t like. And for the record the dancers are dancing the choreography given to them by the professionals. I don’t see her calling them out. She’s a coward. I would love to see Ms. Debbie Allen on the judges table,[she’s hard but fair]. Big Ups to Cat…cause Mia needs an attitude adjustment and if she has an ounce of class and respect for her profession she would apologize and step her prejudice ass down. If she continues in this way me and my network of roughly 500 people are prepared to STOP watching.

  27. Disappointed on July 8th, 2010 9:49 pm

I have always loved this show until this year. I am not sure when this became a personality show. I thought it was a Dance competition. Why is Mia (who use to be one of my favorite on the show) being so critical of some and then being blind to others by there personality…. Really how can she say that someone had more heart than another. They are all following their dreams and giving it all. I don’t think its fair that Jose is a favorite based on personality.

  28. Mo on July 8th, 2010 9:58 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you for seeing what I saw in Mia Michaels!

She is a nasty, nasty person! She does not deserve to be a judge! She cannot see past color!!! She DID indeed do the same thing to Brandon last season. Cutting him and cutting him and cutting him until it was soo near the end! Mia has a problem w. people of dark shades and can’t seem to see their incredible talent!

I really, really miss Mary Murphy! Please Nigel, bring Mary Murphy back.

Mia Michaels is incredibly prejudiced! I can’t imagine her as a teacher of dance. She’d be CRUEL to anyone who was not the shade of skin she wanted. I can’t believe she even criticized Adechike’s eyes! wow! how rude she is!

TAKE HER OFF THE JUDGING PANEL AND THAT ADAM SHANKMAN TOO! He is nothing but a CHAMELEON!

  29. har on July 8th, 2010 10:45 pm

Wow. I love MIa to death, but she is the worst judge EVER. Her choreography is amazing, but I think she picked a favorite in the begining and choses to believe all of his work is brilliant. the sad thing is that a guy like alex already had an amazing position on a phenomonal dance company, and yet he gave it up to compete on a show for fame….in all honesty i see very little personiality in his dance compared to other younger kids who have a lot of heart and could really use the show to advance their dance careers. I feel terrible for the people MIa not only critiques, but destroys. Someone needs to tell her she’s not helping but putting others down and hurting them. even with kent and lauren she has been extremely judgemental, and hurtful honestly. I miss mary, who always had good imput and added a brightness to the panel. I miss the old format where dancers could develop relationships with their partners. I miss voting for three guys and three girls. I don’t think i want to watch SYTYCD like this.

Mia’s choreography is amazing and she should be doing that for the show. I really am begining to believe she is racist and opinionated, and not interested in helping these dancers, but eliminating the competition blocking alex

  30. Mary Ballard-Jones on July 8th, 2010 10:53 pm

Well, I am elated that everyone is speaking their true thoughts on Mia Michaels. It hurt me to my heart the last few weeks she constantly ragged on and definately missjudged AdeChike. I have always enjoyed the show and in the past have held in my displeasure when it comes to MM judging a certain type of guys on the show. But she does not even try to hide her displeasure when certain black dancers, who are very very deserving to be there as much as anyone else and deserve to be praised upon, she just rears back and spews it out. Nigel, I am so dissappointed in the show with Mia there. Then when she gave her so-called apology, I could not believe she actually said; I really like you and if I said anything to hurt you, I did not mean it. It’s just tough love. Why can’t you give him encouragement too if, as you say, you know he can do better. Yeah, well give your tough love to someone else. And Nigel, AdeChike was not mad at his critique of his dancing, as he said, I’m taking it all in (all of you should look at the tapes and see how badly you treat people. Please bring back the REAL JUDGES. I’m sick of Mia’s terrible antics. She just needs to teach, that is the one and only thing she is good at. Thanks to Ms. Cat! You are very classy for standing up and saying what you did in AdeChike’s defense.

  31. jim little on July 9th, 2010 12:42 am

Mia Michaels is consistently racist in her critiques of black male dancers. She has said they have attitude or are arrogant or dance African when they are dancing an Indian dance. She later apologizes – but, it is obvious she only apologizes after she is called on the carpet for her racist comments. This week the same thing happened. It’s ok to critique, but it is not ok to totally slam all of the black male dancers and to “be in love” with the other non-black dancers. She should not be a judge. Her apologies are hollow and do not make up for her blatant racist comments.

  32. MiaHaterz on July 9th, 2010 12:59 am

We have been watching this show since the very beginning and loved it until Mia came to ruin everything, and suddenly this became a personality competition. She is a racist, mean prejudiced, person and refuses to see how good Adechike really is just because he’s black. Today she apologiced ONLY because she read all the comments posted against her. ” i love u”, my butt you know she doesn’t mean that!!! Mary we miss you! bring back the Hot tamale train… the show isnt about who’s favorite, it’s about who dances the best, we all know how brilliant alex is, but i mean theres more contestants and they ALL have personalities, if they wouldn’t they would Not be there!! We Hate MIA!!!!
Go back to choreographing that’s the only thing you’re good for- consider that a compliment and LEAVE, we used 2 love u, but that was b4 we found out u were racist….Oh and Nigel what happened 2 u, ur kissing mia’s butt all the time speak ur mind dont agree w/ her… that goes 4 adam 2
    P.S. alex we love u, hope 2 c u next year…

  33. Mary Ballard-Jones on July 9th, 2010 7:50 am

MARY! MARY! MARY! PLEASE COME BACK AND BRING SOME INTEGRITY TO SYTYCD!

  34. claudette clemons on July 9th, 2010 9:15 am

I watched So you think you can dance July 8, 2010 and it was so disappointing to see a so called mature adult insult a young person on nation television, the way Mia Michaels did. She has no tack and her comments to Adechike were hurtful and mean. she should be replaced, send Mary Murphy back. I have watched this show for many several years. well this year has put a damper on things and i will not watch it anymore. Mia Michaels should take a look in the mirror and search herself and speak with the higher power she may praise and ask for forgiveness. This clearly is not the first time she has insulted a male dancer of color. Well when does it stop, and who the hell does she think she is. Why does the producers of this show continue to allow such a racist person to remain a judge on the show. I give up and I will suggest my friends not watch this show. The apology was fake. Send the chick packing.

  35. Judith Williams on July 9th, 2010 7:46 pm

I believe that Mia Michaels should be replaced. Whether she’s right or wrong in her Critcs, she’s inapropriate when she says things like “i wish Alex were here”, when she critizing another dancer. As far as I’m concerned, her rightous self inportance is showing.

  36. emelle on July 9th, 2010 11:12 pm

I know this is about Mia Michael’s hurtful comments so first I will say that as the mother of an elite dancer I would want to throttle someone who said those things to my daughter. I know that comments like that would have stung every one of the competitors..it’s a tight, supportive community and they feel the pain.

Regarding Alex.. Har’s comment stating “alex already had an amazing position on a phenomonal dance company, and yet he gave it up to compete on a show for fame”. I hear you, but I have known Alex for a long time. He has been well trained in a variety of dance genres and has really missed the joy of being able to perform in dance beyond ballet. It wasn’t for the fame, but for the opportunity to learn and grow. I’m sure when he said he was grateful for the opportunity he really was. Good luck to him and the rest of the competitors on SYTYCD who are all amazing.

  37. Mary on July 14th, 2010 3:01 pm

My 9 and 7 year old children, very like Adechike in color and origin noticed that Mia was being unneccesarily mean to him. Incidentally, I like and respect Simon on American idol because even where I don’t quite agree with him, he clearly comes from a proffesional place and not personal. Mia on the other hand, I just don’t get. She should definately step down because she is either incapable or unwilling to leave her opinions at home and therefore can not be a good judge. Bless Alex…he has talent and class and I hope he recovers and continues with his career, wherever that takes him. I live in Canada so I can not vote: Mia, you will probably draw more votes for Adechike than you intended!!

  38. Miss Mary Hate Mia on July 15th, 2010 10:47 pm

The first and second season I had the utmost respect for Mia as a choreographer.
Today I despise her because she is mean, nasty and jealous of good looking women. Several people I know won’t watch the show anymore because of the judges, I was about to stop too but I do love the dancing. I now mute out the judges. I don’t give a damn what they say, they are either mean or biased or they contradict themselves or they use and lot of words and say nothing (Adam).

The show has really gone down hill in the last few years, but this year will probably be their last thanks to the judges. Too bad, it was a winner in the beginning. I miss Mary too. She may be the only one with integrity.

  39. Natalie on July 16th, 2010 5:28 pm

Are you all out of your minds?

    BRING MARY BACK?

    What?

Mary was the most irritating, emotional, campy judge ever. Her “scream” got old the second time she did it. It was actually uncomfortable to watch after the 100th time. Turning the volume down on Mia? Uh, hello! I turned it town as soon as I saw Mary pause and look around (because it meant she was just about to scream. Ugh) She was worse than Paula on American Idol when it came to rambling, non-sensical “critiques”, and usually she would tell the dancers, “You were fantastic, I just loved you, you’re so sexy” or she would agree with Nigel. She seemed to be drunk half the time on Season 6!

I hated how Mary was so attention-grabbing. In fact, I have to say when I saw her as a judge on a few of the casting days this season, she was so subdued and sweet and she didn’t scream once! It was fantastic, and I liked her again.

I also feel that Mia was WAAAAY out of line with her comments. Things like saying, “I miss Alex” were super-uncomfortable to hear, and made me squirm in my seat that night. It was as if we were listening in on a private conversation! Yeah, that was not cool.

However, she is not a racist, people. OMG. You have to be kidding me. She’s complained about the lack of personality on TONS of dancers, be they black, white, hispanic or martian. All the judges talk about personality in the performance. Can you honestly say you care more about the technicality of a dance than how it’s performed? Dance is an art form. Just like singing or acting or painting a picture, you need to have some technique, but without performance, all you have is a bunch of notes, words, or brush strokes.

Adechike did that “I love you” dance a few weeks back and was choreographed to “smile a lot”. Well, he sure did place a few random, creepy smiles into his routine, since that was the technique. Did any of you watch that dance? He was so serious-serious-serious-focused, then a forced smile would come across his face as he looked at the girl all sweetly, then he’d go right back to serious/focused. And then 10 seconds later, another creepy smile. Then back to …

Of course this is a performance contest. If the dancers don’t show their personality, if they don’t connect with the other dancer, all they have left are steps and stunts. THAT ALONE DOESN’T MAKE A PERFORMANCE!

Have you ever considered that the caliber of dancing has reached such a high level that everyone is technically pretty great? How much can we push these contestants? Obviously when the WOW FACTOR has to be breached, we put them into tougher and more dangerous stunts. I mean, 2 out of 11 dancers have been seriously injured. This show is verging on becoming, “So You Think You Can Avoid Injury”

Oh, and Mia’s thing against Brandon? He was so darn stiff throughout a majority of the first few weeks. I thought he had no personality, either. It wasn’t till the last two weeks of Season 6 that I finally thought, “Hey, I guess I do like watching this guy.” Perhaps that’s it. Maybe Mia has a thing against “stiff” dancers. Muscle-ey dancers, too. SHE SEEMS TO PREFER THE LANKIER, FLEXIBLE GUYS, not the ones who show off their “power.” Yep, it could be a bias on her part. She said a few weeks back that Lauren had to be careful not to be so “powerful” and athletic. She needed to be more feminine. I personally TOTALLY agree with this. If I want to see someone flex in a muscle-man pose, I’m going to watch sports. Not dance.

THAT’s IT! That’s why I dislike Adechike so much. In the first couple of weeks he did this arm muscle flex and I was like, “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Oh, puhleeze. It made me puke in my mouth a little.

  40. Angie on July 17th, 2010 1:07 am

Let me just say that I have never posted on a message board before. I am so disgusted the Mia Michaels and her evil comments about Adechike. I noticed that when Kent and Adechike performed together she critiqued both guys seperately. She immediately started with the praise perfomance of Kent and just ignored Adechike. This woman has some serious issues. She should never be a judge because dances comes in all nationalities. She clearly has an issue with young male black dancers. She is so nice to Jose and clearly he is the worse dancer on the show. If this is how next season is going to be judged then this will be the last season that I watch. I will encourage all of my friends and family to do the same. If we stop watching then and only then will they perhaps get rid of the witch.

  41. Abby on July 21st, 2010 9:54 pm

Poor Adam…after Nigel speaks I just change the channel so I don’t have to listen to Mia’s comments, look at her “go to hell” outfits and her “what the hell happened to her hair” do! She is the ABSOLUTE WORSE. The delivery of her criticism has a lot to be desired too. Grant it, she is a great choreographer, but please, please, please, send her back to the rehearsal rooms and take her off the judging panel. I love when they start the judging off w/Nigel or Adam! Bring Mary back!!

  42. Sue on July 28th, 2010 9:53 pm

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who can’t stand listening to or looking at Mia Michaels. She drives me up the wall. What happened to Mary??? Bring her back please. I do enjoy Adam’s insightful comments

  43. theresa on August 2nd, 2010 9:05 pm

I totally agree with you guys about the horrible Mia. She has no manners and is extremely rude and obnoxious. I have no idea why Nigel put her o the judges table. Adam agrees with her all the time…. What is wrong with her hair and outfits? Even when she cries it seems very hipocritical to me and all my family. Please the beautiful Mary back… we all miss her!

As for me, Mia is RACIST!!!! She doesn’t like Adechike and has never given him a good comment. She needs to appreciate other styles music and dance. Just because she doesn’t know shit doesn’t mean she should discriminate the dancer. Her ass needs to travel some more and appreciate other styles.

i think the judging panel of this show has shown that they will not be fair when it comes the critiquing the black dancers… All season they have failed to give Adechike his due for his work and improvements. Week after week they have consistently put him down, spoken ill of him and criticized his form, technique and physical attributes. Mia Michaels needs ot be replaced, she APPEARS TO BE A BIGOT. Her under current racist remarks only fools herself because we see right thru her. It is sad that racisim always creeps it’s ugly face into the competion when blacks begin to excel. i am very disappointed in the whole judges panel and I think that this is my last season patronizing such a racist and unfair show… they want lily-white.. they can have it!

Mia is one of those racist white people who do not know they are racially biased. Mia should be off the show next season or we will all stop watching the show.

Mia can not hide the hate she has for Adechike, it is so sad. I had so much respect for her as a choreographer until now. She is not a good judge. She has her favorites. She is borderline rude and disrespectful. Shame on you Mia

It is quite obvious the show does not want another Black person to win. It is so obvious in the opinions the judges are giving about AdeChike that are nebulous and really make no sense. The judges are on the payroll, they have to follow marching orders

  49. MiaHaterz on August 5th, 2010 1:21 am

WOW! what a racist show!! i can’t say the least. at least offer some helpful critic don’ t tell the poor guy 2 basically leave!! poor ADECHIKE i dont understand why they have 2 b so mean 2 him. no1 has even voted yet and they keep sayin who’s going 2 b in the finally, and according to them ADECHIKE is for sure not going 2 be there. the way they were talking 2 him at the end was as if he was for sure already leaving… “i’m so proud of you… you should celebrate that u r here…” blah, blah. can u get anymore sarcastic????
Adechike my words 2 u: keep ur head held up high, don’t listen 2 those stupid, racist people, specially not that giant of a monster that MiA is, i bet u she couldn’t do half of what u do when she was younger! I can’t believe the show producers allow this kind of nonsense, giving the dancers (ADECHIKE) the worst coreographies so they can leave sooner… but oh well what you r doing is preventing people from watching your show in the future. u really killed what the show really is about.

  50. Tee on August 5th, 2010 6:50 pm

I so agree with you all. This is actually my first time watching the show and i must say i saw right thru judge MIA. OMG can u say RACIST!!!! This woman is so blind. She needs to be replaced and the stupid judge that sits next to her agrees with everything she says all the time. They’ll rather have cheezy ass white boy Kent win the show than see a black man win. Please its 2010 lets be fair and throw the racism crap out the window. First of all, i thought the show was about challenges and taking the dancers out of their comfort zone. hmmm how come the only person who is challenged week to week is Adechike??? The only one who was never a danced before. Who struggled to show case himself!
The white girl, tho i like her, always has a dance move where she can be sexy! Well helllooooo SEX SELLS. Plus she was a cheerleader prior. Let her do some African dancing and lets see how well she can really move.
Kent always has something where he can smile from ear to ear and still be fine. Oh i wud REALLY LOVE to see him do some AFRICAN dance wit the stupid ass smile.
And the rest is the same.
For crying out loud, lets be fair!!! Like someone said earlier, MIA your mean and unfair critiques to Adechike will probably only win him more votes so do us all a favor BACK OFF BITCH!!!!!!!

Guys, calling someone a racist is serious business. Many of these comments are actually coming from the same IP address, which means that someone is on here posting as different people. Let’s remember we are adults.

  52. Tee on August 5th, 2010 9:19 pm

Yea tell that to MIA. She is RACIST!!!

  53. Chaka Khan on August 8th, 2010 12:20 am

I am normally not the type to write in an post comments, but i just had to speak my mind with regards to Mia Michaels. Over the seasons of SYTYCD i thought the comments she made against black dancers was somewhat of a coincidence – enough! It was quite obvious that during last weeks show no one could do wrong. That is except Adecheke. So what if he wasn’t the best dancer, let her voice it, he was the worst. And the comments from previous weeks are just as bad. I used to have a lot of respect for her, but now i don’t think i even care to watch the show at all. Even the other ALL Stars got big props for a job well done, all that is except Ade. So not sure if something in Mia’s past is haunting her, but regardless of whether she a judge or a instructor….there is one less viewer.
