THE BACHELORETTE WTF Moment of the Week: Kasey Edition - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

THE BACHELORETTE WTF Moment of the Week: Kasey Edition

June 22, 2010 by

Confession: I watch THE BACHELORETTE. Yes, it’s my (not-so-)secret guilty pleasure.

But even though I’m into the show, I recognize its absurdity too. That’s half the fun.

So we at  GIVE ME MY REMOTE are launching a weekly feature to highlight the THE BACHELORETTE’s biggest WTF moments.

This week?

Well… After Ali told Kasey that she wasn’t sure how sincere his vow to protect her heart was, he responded by immediately running out and getting a tattoo of a heart protected by a shield — which included 11 studs, 11 being the number of guys competing for Ali at the time of the inking — with a rose intertwined. Kasey did not show Ali the tattoo right away, but we knew the reveal was coming.

Cut to last night’s (June 21) episode. Ali went on a two-on-one date with Kasey and Justin. When their alone time came, Kasey of course unveiled his permanent body art. And while Kasey certainly didn’t get an overwhelmingly positive reaction to it, Ali wasn’t entirely negative either. She was more… neutral.

Um, really?

Was she just trying to be nice? Or, I mean, I don’t know, I’m so confused.

That freak permanently scarred his body for someone he barely knows!

I mean, the biggest sign of Ali being bothered by the tattoo was when she noted that Kasey’s mom would be upset about it. And, yeah, maybe the conversation lasted longer than we were privy to onscreen, but I guarantee, had she expressed any real horror or outrage, the producers would’ve found a way to include it… so, clearly, she didn’t.

She just sent the kid packing.

Of course, she did say that she was 100% sure she’d made the right choice by picking creep Justin over stalker Kasey — yes, fine, we added the adjectives — but she kept babbling about how she felt bad having to say goodbye to him.

Why?

Because he tries too hard? Has no concept of what real love is? Made an ass of himself on national television for someone who then booted him?

Ali later told host Chris Harrison that she felt Kasey just fell in love with the idea of falling in love. Okay, sure, that’s probably true. He clearly wasn’t thinking straight.

But really, Ali? Maybe you’re the one who isn’t being sincere. The guy got a tattoo for you. We know you were freaked out. We’re not saying you had to trash him. We would’ve been satisfied with something along the lines of “Yeah, he might have been a good guy, but he went too far with the tat.”

We just wanted you to acknowledge the fact that the whole situation was a serious “WTF?!”…

I’m not a week to week Bacherlorette watcher but after watching most of last night’s episode, I’m sad that I’m missing out of this hilarious show.

I turned it on a few minutes before the tat reveal. I had seen the clip of Kasey singing so I knew what Ali was p against. But I loved how the bar was set so low that all Ali asked (to the camera) was that Kasey act “normal”. Cut to the tattoo reveal BRILLIANT!

    Glad he went home.

Like I said, I don’t watch every week, but I did watch the first few eps where we got to meet the guys. Shocked…SHOCKED that Frank (or as I dubbed him when he introduced himself by jumping on the car – Harry Hipster) was still around. Without those glasses he seemed like a normal person. Is he the opposite of Superman or something? Anyway, he seemed really sincere and I was almost pulling for him. Talk to me…who should I be pulling for?

Interestingly enough, I’m actually kinda pulling for Frank. He does seem like a normal person– albeit, one who is uncomfortable about sharing “his” girlfriend with several other dudes, which to me is pretty frakking normal, even if that is the point of the show– and they really clicked fast on their initial one-on-one date. But love the reverse Superman comparison. That’s hilarious.

Though I did get the appeal of Ty for the first time this week. Craig seems kinda nice, too. Oh and Ali seems to be crazy about Roberto (he was the one in tonight’s episode that she said she never would have approached outside of the show because she would have thought he was too hot for her). But as far as I can remember, none of the other ones really stick out.

At this point, it’s almost a shame that she *just* got rid of Kasey and still hasn’t ditched Justin. Too much attention has been focused on them and their problems with each other (and before that, Justin’s problems with the Weatherman) and it kinda feels like that drama is taking time away from seeing Ali with these guys. Obviously drama is good for ratings and watercooler talk but TPTB really need this relationship to work. Between Jake and Vienna’s breakup and THE BACHELORETTE being the only branch of the franchise that has a semi-decent success rate for its couples, you’d think they’d want us to invest more in the potential couples than b***h about the crazy contestants left.

You should be pulling for Kirk and Chris L! How can you say none of the others stick out? That’s crazy talk. This group of guys is my favorite group of guys from any season (i’m talking about the ones remaining, exluding the fake wrestler man). They seem genuine and funny, plus they all seem to get along with each other- the clips they show of them just goofing off or talking to each other during downtime cracks me up. I appreciate that and would want to see that way more than the cattiness of the crazy women on Bachelor. I do agree with you that they should show more of the relationship aspect, but after so many seasons, I know not to expect that.

I for one think it was smart that she got rid of Kasey, for his sake. If she kept him around then that would have given him false hope and who knows what else he would have done. Poor kid needs to go home/back to reality and guard and protect someone else’s heart. I think she was being nice. But yes, on the inside she was probably flipping out.

I expected a more dramatic reaction, too. But I think Ali’s trying hard to be classy. She seems to try hard to be polite to all of the guys and doesn’t bash them behind their backs.

I like Chris L from the Cape – nice guy. I also kind of got to see more of Ty and Craig and they’ve moved up in my eyes. They may not all be lookers but I like this group in general for the reasons Beth mentions above.

I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed as hard as I did when they made it look like they left what’shisface on the side of a Volcano to become nothing but a cannabalistic lone wolf who’d have to eat ash and his own arms to survive. God that was funny. The editor on this show s brilliantly mean!

I have to agree with the Chris L. and Kirk support, though I have to agree that Roberto, Frank, Craig and Ty all seem like fairly normal guys. I don’t know why the women on these shows don’t listen when there’s one guy — Justin — who’s universally hated in the house. If none of the guys can find anything redeeming, it’s probably b/c there’s not much there.

I’m just glad we won’t have to hear about Kasey’s desire to protect and guard Ali’s heart anymore…
