BROTHERS & SISTERS Exclusive: Series Regular Said to be Appearing in Just Two Episodes Next Season

June 29, 2010 by

Though we didn’t actually see Robert (Rob Lowe) dead and buried on the season finale of BROTHERS & SISTERS this year, we do know for sure that Lowe is off the show… but it seems he’s not the only family member making an exit.

Want to know more?  Read on…

There have been rumors that, due to budget issues, B&S has been forced to shrink its cast this fall, and sources tell GIVE ME MY REMOTE exclusively that Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) will be the first to go.

Word is, VanCamp — who just signed on to star in a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie for CBS —  will appear in just two episodes early this coming season.

Now, fans of BROTHERS & SISTERS of course know that her character, Rebecca, has been having some marital issues with Justin (Dave Annable) as of late, so perhaps those problems will drive her out of Pasadena permanently.

Personally, we’re okay with that.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Justin move on to a new storyline in September.

If Rebecca peace’ing out does in fact happen, will you be cool with it too?

Which B&S cast members would you be completely unwilling to part with?

I always felt that Rebecca was one of the least likeable, least interesting characters on the show, so I won’t miss her. I do like Justin, so hopefully this will allow his character to grow more. And hopefully this will also mean more screen time for Sarah and Luc–my faves!

I’m not sad with the news at all. Rebecca is the least likeable character on the show. As long as they don’t mess with Kevin and Scotty I am fine. Give Scotty something more to do and expand the storylines for Kevin and Scotty!

This doesn’t bother me – nothing against Van Camp, but the story with these two was dragging and kind of a bummer. On the other hand, if Kevin, Scotty or Sarah were to go, I think I’d follow. Those three are the only reasons I’m still watching the show, and I wouldn’t want to if they weren’t there.

Personally, I’d be happy with a spin-off called Kevin & Scotty, with Sarah as a recurring character – Kevin needs someone to go out and drink with, right?

If it means that they need to cast a new Canadian cutie to keep Dave Annable’s Justin company I know someone who would like to be up for the role! 😉

Bring back Julia and the baby. The adorable Sarah Jane Morris is a fabulous talent who was seriously underused.

First, what was the point in trying to sign EVC to a two-year contract when ABC cut B&S’s order to 18 episodes anyway? It’s not like ABC isn’t broadcasting their intent to cancel the series at the end of this season, almost regardless of the ratings.

Second, unlike with the idiocy at CBS and Criminal Minds (and other series at the Eye), it’s clear that EVC is leaving the show because she’s burnt out on the direction that the show was taking with her character. Good for her.

Third, hopefully, there’s some unofficial understanding for EVC to keep her schedule open around the time they’re expected to film the last four episodes of the season or so, so that Rebecca and Justin can reconcile in case this is the last season. Something a little less rushed than Amy and Ephram’s reconciliation in the finale of Everwood, which while effective, didn’t have enough time to breathe.

I’m fine with that because I agree that their story line was dragging, and I’m really excited for him to get a new storyline next season. And I also agree that the definitely should NOT mess with Kevin and Scotty. And Sarah kind of bugs me.

THIS IS the only show I watch on TV besides Lost, and now that it has finished… I’ll just be happy to have B & S on. I think they need to get rid of Holly…she annoys the crap out of me on the show!!!! But I dont think Ken Olin has any plans for that to happen…..
