July 30, 2010 by

THE CLOSER, RIZZOLI & ISLES and LEVERAGE are not going anywhere.

TNT announced new season orders for the three series this morning, with network vice president and head of programming Michael Wright mentioning the success they’ve enjoyed on Sundays and Mondays because of the dramas.

Said Wright, “All three shows feature terrific casts, sharp writing and top-notch production teams.  We look forward to continued success with new seasons in 2011.”

According to network stats, THE CLOSER — going into its 7th season — continues to rank as ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time while RIZZOLI & ISLES currently ranks as cable’s #1 new series in the past year.

Both THE CLOSER and LEVERAGE were picked up for 15-episode seasons. RIZZOLI & ISLES received a 13-episode order.

Any thoughts?

I can see, from a ratings standpoint, why they renewed R&I but that show is difficult to watch for simple fact that people like Chazz Palminteri, Lorraine Bracco, and Donnie Wahlberg are not well used at all. The supporting characters on that program are really paper thin.

I only watch Leverage and it has been great so far this season. Enough for me to go back and rewatch from season one.
