HOUSE: Cuddy Gets a Mom in Candice Bergen

September 16, 2010 by

Murphy Brown is Cuddy’s mommy!!

FOX confirms that TV vet/5-time Emmy winner, Candice Bergen (MURPHY BROWN, BOSTON LEGAL), has joined the cast of HOUSE and will be playing Dr. Lisa Cuddy’s mother as EW.com first reported.

She’ll stick around for several episodes, which will most likely begin airing early next year.

Awesome, right?

Wonder what kind of chemistry she’ll have with her daughter’s beau, one Mr. Gregory House…

Wait, is this still House we’re talking about out?! Who the hell cares about Cuddy’s mother?! Oh yeah, right, I forgot it’s Huddy MD now, and not a medical drama show but a soap opera. Sorry I forgot to switch OFF my brain 😉

That is so cool. Great choice for the role. This season is shaping up to look very good right now.

Go watch some medical documentaries, they’re not soapy at all.

    Liz:

If you had your way, we’d be stuck with the most predictable show on television. By all means, lets stick to the…

“House is wrong 2 or 3 times, argues with his team, insults a few people, has a conversation 5 minutes before the end of the show that has nothing to do with his current case when someone utters a trigger word causing House to stare off into space… case solved”… formula.

God forbid we have some interesting subplots and character development in a CHARACTER BASED procedural. :p

    Moving on…

I like the casting of Candice Bergen but I’d like it even more if Bergen and Edelstein shared any resemblance to to each other whatsoever.

For the committed readers of GMMR’s House Recaps, carefully crafted by yours truly, I promise an all-new assortment of Dan Quayle jokes when Bergen’s arc airs in 2011 🙂

I love this show and believe that your writers be able to handle the changes in him. I think everything in life must be turning not to fall into monotony, even TV shows.
