LIFE UNEXPECTED Series Finale Will Likely Air in January

November 3, 2010 by

LIFE UNEXPECTED will not be picked up for the second half of season 2.

The CW made the decision on Tuesday and though they’re not officially canceling the low-rated series — that announcement will likely come in May — the writers are preparing to tie storylines up as best as they can in episode 13.

I reached out to show creator Liz Tigelaar who talked about the plan. “I think we’re going to try to end the show appropriately, by honoring where the characters are.” she said.

While that’s good news for fans, it’s really little consolation.

As a fan of LIFE UNEXPECTED myself, gotta say, I’m bummed. I like my quality Kerr Smith/Kris Polaha time each week.

Who else thinks this sucks?

Im am very upset, i finally found a good show to watch. I look foward to watching this show every week, finally its not a show of violence or vampires its a family show many people can relate to. This show needs to continue and the CW needs to start showing some support towards this show such as spreading the word about this show not just on the CW but in other channels to. I know this show will suceed, i just wish i can do something about it.

ehh.. this is kind of good news to me. i was a big fan of the show season 1 but i literally have had to force myself to watch it this season. i just feel like they had such a good start but have let it go majorly downhill. so i’m really not surprised by this news.

A The CW q se foda! essa série é tao linda e maravilhosa. nao sei como vou fica sem a LUX, CATE, BAZE e RAYN. eles fazem parte da minha semana.

I’m deeply upset by this. Here I was ready to completely dump the CW and then this show, Life Unexpected, comes on in January and captures me. Finally a show about family, integrity, and heart on the network and they want to take it away. They should be ashamed of themselves – their reputation finally improved with this show and they want to axe it just because it doesn’t fit in and because they put it in a tough spot. Seems like they set it up for failure. And for those saying that this show isn’t like it was in season 1, the show we all fell in love with – you can credit the network for that too. They’re the ones that intervened for season 2 and made Liz bring in an X-amount of side/new characters that no one cares for, x-amount of half naked scenes, and x-amount of unfamily related issues – all just so the show could fit into the rest of the network’s line-up. It’s funny because even the demographic they are targeting is turned off by the CW’s orders for LUX to change – they miss the little family oriented show we all fell in love with. I say the CW gives LUX a third season and let Liz have full creative freedom and see what happens, we in return will forgive the network and give them a chance too. It would be such a mistake to axe the one show that has has actually given them a good reviews. Isn’t it ironic that LUX pulled in a higher rating for it’s rerun last week than Gossip Girl…yet Gossip Girl is the one with a full season and will probably be renewed. Oh, and that’s right, LUX ALSO held it’s own last night in ratings even though he LA demographic wasn’t included due to election coverage. Hmm…something tells me that the CW is making a mistake…

of course it got canceled, it isn’t a show about underage kids having sex/drinking/supernatural. that’s all the cw is nowadays. this is a show that would have killed on the wb. stupid cw!!

This sucks!!!! It was one of my favorite shows on tv and was consistently great tv! I hope they can get Cate & Baze together before the end!

  10. crystal on November 3rd, 2010 7:47 pm

The CW sucks, that is all. They rather show “trash” then a heart felt show.Liz showed go to another braodcast….. I am deeply angry and hurt. I can’t believe that they would keep the o.c or hellcats over this family show. I have spent so much time as well as every other fan and the actors of the show promoting the show and getting people to watch for them to just cancel it…….

  11. @francovalenz on November 4th, 2010 6:38 pm

What a stupid decision… Hope CW burns after this

  12. Keri on November 21st, 2010 11:51 pm

I agree with every word Cristal said. HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake CW. I am deeply upset and hurt by this. You have not given this beautiful show with heart and integrity the fair chance it deserves from the beginning. Now you are torturing all of us once again by making us wait until May for your “decision”! It’s dispicable and DISGUSTING. Obviously you do not care about nurturing and producing quality television. Again, WAKE UP!! Reconsider. Please don’t let LUX slip away.

I’m am very upset by this! I haven’t missed one episode since the beginning and I look forward to watching every week!

I can sadly say that I am not surprised by the CW’s decision to possibly cancel Life Unexpeted. They have canceled all the good shows as far as I am concerned, meanwhile stupid Smallville is finishing it’s 10th season. It’s bull.Veronica Mars and Everwood are some of my favorites that the CW has murdered, so it stands to reason that they would murder yet another favorite show of mine. All I can say is that I hope the producers are able to give the show the end it deserves at such sort notice. I suppose that means that Baze and Cate won’t end up together, but we can always blame the CW for that!

Very sorry that this show will not continue. One of 2 or 3 shows that I watch every week. The only other show that I watch is GG on CW….rest of CW is totally worthless.

  17. James on December 8th, 2010 2:23 am

this is friggin stupid!!!!! THE CW is friggin stupid!!!!! they are letting one of thevery best shows slip through thier hands!!!!! they have no idea the show that they have and yet they are going to cancel it because of ratings???? come on when you put it in the middle of one tree hill and other stupid shows like mellrose place and one top model what do they expect?

supernatural and smallville both nearly survived to thier 6th and 10th seasons and just becuase Life Unexpected is having a rough time in ratings they are going to cancel it? this is bull crap! i offically hate the CW!!!!!

  18. allie on December 9th, 2010 12:04 am

i just HATE it !! :'( cw is taking out all the super good shows out i’m just so bummed and mad…..CW wake up and dont cancel it !! why!

  19. Chenza Bowers on December 12th, 2010 6:46 pm

Life unexpected is the only show I look forward to watching every week. When I can’t watch live I always record it. I have not missed one episode. CW is making a big mistake, My nieces and nephews in there mid teens have not missed an episode, It is the one show that my sister encourages that they watch, without having to really encourage it at all, they love it and so do all their friends at school. They talk about it every Wednesday at school. I think it is a positive show with great family values. Oh but wait, it doesn’t have the ratings because the CW didn’t promote it enough. Unlike thier vampire shows or ||Gossip Girl, which are all fantasy. I wish networks would stop judging shows based only on thier bottom line, PROMOTE LIFE UNEXTPECTED WITH THE SAME FIRE THAT YOU PROMOTE ALL THE OTHER CRAP YOU HAVE ON YOUR NETWORK, and watch the ratings go sky high. Just give it a chance.

Very disappointed in another show getting cancelled. I am done with CW.

I do not care what show you put on in its place or what shows you are going to pick up or continue, I WILL NEVER watch your network again.

  20. rosa on December 29th, 2010 12:57 am

I love life unexpected…..the only part of it I couldn’t stand to watch is the whole sicko teacher being interested in lux part. Othr than that its the only show I look forward to everyweek. Please cw don’t take it away:(

  21. liz on December 31st, 2010 12:58 am

I love Life Unexpected! Why does the CW trash all the good shows and replace them with reality trash?

Life Unexpected has heart. It is such a great show, I can’t figure out why it would go off the air and other crap will stay!

No wonder the CW is about to be on it’s 3rd studio head in a few years! Keep Life Unexpected!!!

  22. Amanda on January 11th, 2011 11:06 pm

DITTO and I miss it already 🙁

This is the FIRST time I have felt moved enough to write my opinion on-line. As many of the folks above have stated, this was a quality show. It was also very entertaining. I am a grand-parent and even I was glued. Between the premise, the ever-changing storylines and supurb acting, what’s not to love? I think if the CW were to ‘market’ this show as much as the “Vampire Diaries”, you’d have a lot more folks watching and have another hit series…

  26. rachel on January 28th, 2011 3:22 am

Honestly, I finally get hooked on a series that as meaning and that is based on reality and not superficial matters. It has charm and so much potential to keep on going.
I hope they don’t cancel. They just need to advertise more if they want a higher rated, becaus honestly it’s one of the best shows out there!!!

  27. Tanya on March 7th, 2011 12:08 pm

I’m glad I am not the only one who thinks this sucks!! I started watching reruns of this show and loved it so much that I started from the beginning. I actually just watched episode 2/13 just now online and went to see if there was a 3rd season and it lead me to this page. So I think I also speak for everyone hear when I say CW sucks for canceling this show so abruptly like they did!!!!
