GREY’S ANATOMY: ‘Something’s Gotta Give’

The first thing that comes to my mind after watching this week’s episode of GREY’S ANATOMY? Alex Karev officially wins the award for least personal growth by any character on any show ever. At the beginning of the series he was Seattle Grace’s resident jerk, way before Mark showed up and temporarily stole that title from him. Now, six and a half years later, Mark has mellowed out and Alex is still the same old jerk seemingly hell-bent on making everyone hate his guts.

You’d think he’d at least try to be a decent guy to April. She hasn’t been there long enough to know him that well, so she’s probably the only girl in the hospital who’s even capable of being attracted to him at this point. Up until he screws her over too.

FRINGE: ‘Initiate Phase Two’

Bumpy plane ride, important numbers (including the digits 8, 15, and 42), plus a repeating message leading people to a destination?

No, kids, you didn’t travel back in time and stumble upon an unaired episode of LOST. Instead, FRINGE borrowed some key elements from its sister-show (both series were co-created by J.J. Abrams) for one of the most important hours of the season.

BONES: ‘The Shallow in the Deep’

Hey, hey, hey, BONES darlings, how’s it going?! Wasn’t this a great episode? An intriguing case, the squint squad in action, some hilarious B&B bickering and a poignant ending all combined to reassure us that BONES, when done well, is worthy of our love. Although there was a lot of Daisy in this episode, I’m still going to chalk it up as one of my favorites of the season. What say you? Before you weigh in, let’s cover some of the details. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES…You Take it From Here

November 11, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Vampire Diaries

Well tonight sucked! (No pun intended.)

Long story (not so) short…Yesterday, in an effort to be more financially responsible, I turned in my second DVR. It was difficult and I damn near cried when the Comcast tech walked out the door, but it was the right call. Knowing that THE VAMPIRE DIARIES usually records on that second DVR, I made sure that it was all set to go on DVR #1. I double checked. Hell, I triple checked. And at 8:12pm when I went to tune in…nothing! It wasn’t recording. Noooo! I quickly screamed “Someone! Give Me My Remote!” (Ha, you like how I did that?) and I immediately hit record. Seeing that the little red button was on, I felt okay taking my puppy, Digby, out for a walk knowing I could watch the last 45 minutes of TVD when I got home. Or so I thought. Much to my horror, when I pressed ‘play’ the picture was all jumbled and no sound recorded. Ugh!

All this to say, that I didn’t get to see THE VAMPIRE DIARIES tonight. I’ll be sure to catch up online tomorrow, but it’s not going to help me much tonight.

But YOU can…

Feel like filling a sister in on the show? Feel free to recap a way in the comments below. Maybe this can be a group effort and you all can tell me what happened with the different characters. Or if you’re not in the recapping mood, just share your thoughts on tonight’s episode. Come on…I’m desperate!

FRINGE Preview: ’6955 kHz’

We’re back to our universe on tonight’s brand new episode of FRINGE.

Based on the interviews and footage in the official Fox promo for “6955 kHz,” it certainly appears like the hour will be touching on some of the show’s bigger questions. Maybe the episode will bring us the answers about Peter’s machine that executive producers Jeff Pinkner, J.H. Wyman and Akiva Goldsman teased would be coming?

Take a look…

Wil Wheaton is returning to THE BIG BANG THEORY!

Yes, Sheldon encounters his rival in tonight’s all-new episode and refers to him as “the Jar Jar Binks of the Star Trek universe.” Cannot wait to hear Evil Wil’s reply to that.

And it appears the girls are having a sleepover, which should be, um, different.

THE SIMPSONS has been renewed for a 23rd season, Fox has announced.

“Like many 22-year-olds, THE SIMPSONS is extremely happy remaining at home, on FOX, and hopes it doesn’t have to go out into the real world for many years to come,” said executive producer Al Jean in a press release.

The upcoming 23rd season will include the 500th episode milestone. How crazy is that?

What do you think, SIMPSONS fans? Are you thrilled to get another year with your favorite Springfield family?

BONES: Michaela Conlin Teases an Upcoming Hodgela Development

As some BONES fans have noticed, things have been a little different this season. The addition of Hannah as Booth’s girlfriend means that characters like Angela, Cam and Hodgins are more often in the background than some fans would like.

But rest assured, when I chatted with the always delightful Michaela Conlin (Angela), she said that things will start to pick up soon, starting with Thursday’s all new episode.

Read on for our chat about Hodgela, their families, belly padding, Cam and why Angela is being kept away from “cougar cruises”…

GLEE: ‘Never Been Kissed’

November 10, 2010 by

Ah…the beauty of time and reflection.  Last night when I turned off my TV at the end of GLEE I was all kinds of fired up. I had such a visceral reaction to the episode that I immediately grabbed my laptop and starting furiously ripping it to shreds. Then I decided to stop…for a few reasons.  The first being that I needed to remind myself that GLEE is a TV show and while I’m passionate about television, I’m not sure that I want it to have that much control over my emotions.

My momentary respite also helped me realize that, to some extent, I made my peace with GLEE near the end of last season. In order for me watch GLEE from week to week, I had to learn to compartmentalize the show.  By doing so, I gave myself permission to enjoy aspects of the series despite its often glaring missteps and shortcomings. If I were forced to judge GLEE strictly through a critical lens each week, I’m not sure I would I derive much joy from it at all. If I got to that point, I’m not sure there would be any reason to watch. So I try to judge each episode of GLEE based on its overall entertainment factor.  Did it make me laugh? Cry? Want to run to iTunes and download all the songs so I can sing them at the top of my lungs the next morning in my car?

So, with that in mind, let’s discuss…
