2011 TV Wish List - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

2011 TV Wish List

December 31, 2010 by

It’s no secret 2010 had many memorable episodes and shows. It was a darn good year for television.

However, I’m feeling a bit greedy and already looking forward to what’s coming up in 2011. Or rather what I want to see happen in 2011.

What am I hoping goes down in 2011? Read on…

1. For Fox to greenlight X-FILES 3. (Yes, Fox, I will continue to ask for this every single chance I can get. 2012 is fast approaching…)
2. For FRINGE to do well on Friday nights. I need a fourth season. Okay, and I’d like season 5, 6, and 7, too.
3. For more hours in the day so I can finally catch up on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and BREAKING BAD and start MAD MEN.
4. For LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT stars Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay to either negotiate a new deal or decide to leave the show before production completes on the 12th season — AKA when their contracts expire. It would be a shame if fans didn’t get a proper wrap-up to their characters’ arcs after all of these years.
5. For BONES to acknowledge the Brennan-Angela friendship. In a season where Brennan could use her BFF more than ever, we’ve seen very few scenes of the duo actually together. Heck, while we’re at it, let’s have more focus on Angela, Hodgins and Cam. Since Hannah arrived, fan faves have been pushed to the backburner, so let’s hope for a change in ’11.
6. For the midseason shows to be more exciting than at least 95% of the shows that debuted in the fall.
7. For MODERN FAMILY, COUGAR TOWN and THE BIG BANG THEORY to keep consistently bringing the funny.
8. For America to embrace Showtime’s new series, EPISODES. It’s a very unique comedy and absolutely worth your time.
9. For the award shows to take a serious look at how they choose their nominees.
10. For CASTLE to continue being one of the most enjoyable shows on television.
11. For THE VAMPIRE DIARIES to continue being a show that’s unafraid to take risks.
12. For GLEE to do a Bon Jovi song without it being part of a mash-up. And if they want to hire those extra writers they promised they would, I wouldn’t object to that either.
13. For there to be more TV-based video games. Yes, I’m a nerd. And no, apps don’t count.
14. For everything JERSEY SHORE related to go away. The series, the scripted television shows doing homages, the “stars” making their way on to other shows, all of it just…leave. And if all traces of their existence in pop culture could also disappear, that would be swell.
15. For the much teased Michael Emerson-Terry O’Quinn show to become a reality. And for J.J. Abrams’ ALCATRAZ pilot to be awesome and picked up.
16. For product placement to be less painfully obvious. If a character is explaining a car’s features like a commercial, you’re not being subtle.
17. For there to be tons of TV scoop in 2011 so Team GMMR can continue to write a lot of fun things for you guys!

Have any wishes you’d like to add to the list? Let us know in the comments below!

I agree on # 16 but that would also take away from many drinking games

  2. Jaime on January 1st, 2011 1:53 am

    Amen on #14!

Great list. Word on the woefully under-used cast-mates on Bones.

I’d like to see an end to pointless, poorly scripted, badly acted, character screen-time sucking, predictable, over-sexed and boring third party love triangle storylines. Can’t think what I’m referring to.

Unfortunately, I don’t see me getting my wish any time soon.

agreed, about BONES/LIKED to see more of angelea and brennan.

Here’s my wish list for 2011
    1. NCIS- Gibbs gets a serious love interest and his dad moves in with him
    2. SVU- Elliot and Olivia finally admit they love one another and we get one very hot love scene
    3. Bones- Booth returns to working with the squints in the lab and Brennan moves on and gets a serious love interest
    4. Criminal Minds- Morgan has a reason to be the man in charge again, those were great shows
    5. Private Practice- Addy and Sam grow closer and Sam decides he too wants a baby
    6. The Defenders- returns its my favorite new show
    7. The Good Wife- keeps giving us great drama to tune into week after week

  6. Jessica on January 1st, 2011 4:25 pm

loved all of it. i’d also love amber “the teen mom” to go away.

Ooops, I don’t know how I forgot Bones, please give us more Cam and the Squints why Cam has become almost obsolete boggles the mind. Can we also see come Cam/Booth discussions, she’s the one person he totally opens up with about his feelings.

I SERIOUSLY NEED another season of Fringe! I think I’ll die if I don’t get another! What a way to die!

As for Bones, I wish we could go back to Season 1 with the Ange/Bren relationship. It was entertaining! I sure miss it.

  9. Aly on January 1st, 2011 6:38 pm

All I want is for Booth and Brennan to get together 🙂

  10. Lynne on January 1st, 2011 8:41 pm

Agreed on #1. But they better make it a freakin’ awesome action movie with new big named people to bring in the mass appeal. I don’t want another movie like the 2nd one- the show was too good to have that be a representation of it.

Thank you for #9. Some of the nominees make sense; others I find myself shaking my head and still others seem to be on the list because they’ve been on the list for so long.

I’d like at least one relationship on NCIS to happen. My preference is Tony/Ziva but I’d take Gibbs or McGee or Abby or even Ducky in one. It’s unnatural to have everyone on the team chronically single.

I’d like more emphasis on Cam and the interns in Bones. I’ve given up on wanting Booth and Bones in a romantic relationship; I’m okay as long as their workplace relationship continues to be fun.

On the other hand, I’d like the Castle writers to either do something with Josh and Gina or ditch them so that Castle and Beckett can go back to some serious flirting. I’d also like to know more about the other people at the station, Lanie, Ryan, Esposito and Montgomery. Alexis and Martha are good characters but I’ve had enough of their love lives, rat sitting and dinner with the parents when we know next to nothing about the other four secondary characters.

Finally, I’d like House to deal with the House/Cuddy relationship seriously instead of pretending it is the love story of the ages. They lie to each other, Cuddy withholds sex to get House to do what she wants and as House said, they have nothing in common beyond work. It’s terribly dysfunctional but it makes me dizzy that the writers are saying it’s a great love story while writing a relationship that needs Dr. Phil stat.

Hallelujah to #16 (and of course, #5)

  13. Julz on January 4th, 2011 1:04 am

Completely agree about more Brennan/Angela scenes (to be honest I didn’t notice until you mentioned it but I do agree)…and I also want Booth to ditch Hannah and get with Brennan…

  14. marple on January 4th, 2011 10:51 am

Agree on Bones. I want to see more of the sqints, all of them. Get rid of Hannah and she can take Booth with her for all i care. He doesn´t deserve Brennan.

  15. Delph on February 5th, 2011 9:50 pm

Go back to S1 Brennan, a strong, independent, rational, opinionated, original woman, who wasn’t so influenceable into becoming someone else.

  16. agatha christie on February 14th, 2011 9:28 pm

I might actually love you for putting XF3 first. That movie NEEDS to happen! I grow more restless by the day because 2012, guys…

Also agreed on the Brennan-Angela friendship. That Hannah storyline was just abysmal, I would also like the writers to own up to that fact (which will never happen of course).

  17. Aimee on February 14th, 2011 9:50 pm

Your top two are also my top 2. Big X-files 3 and Fringe Season 4. Could care less about any other.
