BONES: Will Emily Deschanel Make Her Directing Debut in Season 6?

January 12, 2011 by

One of the biggest drawbacks to BONES getting the much coveted post-AMERICAN IDOL timeslot? Series star Emily Deschanel’s long-awaited directing debut was delayed.

Boo!

However, the good news is that she will get the chance to direct this season.

When will that be? I caught up with Deschanel last night at the FOX TCA party and she was kind enough to shed some light…

I also caught up with BONES creator Hart Hanson and got his take on the situation…

Let’s talk about Emily directing. Is it still going to happen?
Hart Hanson:
That’s one of the million things [in limbo], where we’re like oh my god, because we want that to happen. She was great. We really want her [to direct]. We found out we were on after AMERICAN IDOL and to take her out of two episodes right then? Bad idea. She’s one of the two stars of the show. So she agreed. And now we have to find a slot for her.

She mentioned maybe episode 20 or 21?
HH:
Yeah, we will find her a slot, because she did us a big solid of agreeing instantly without being angry or anything. She just got it. I asked her personally and said, “Here’s why [we need to delay it].” She got it.

Are you excited for Emily Deschanel to finally get the chance to direct?

I think it will be the 21, because François Velle told few weeks ago in an interview to “france Amerique” that he will direct the 2O like last year.

YES! Finally, I really hope she’ll get to direct one of those episode because I’m pretty sure that she’ll be a fantastic director and she deserves her chance!
If they delay it again, I’ll be mad for her.. 😉

Emily should definitely direct. I think she well deserves the chance and am very curious to see her style.
David for example has a very specific and unique way to direct and shoot, which I like a lot.
Although, same as for Emily, I think I’d selfishly rather see their gorgeousness in front of the camera. Eheh

Good for Emily. She deserves the opportunity to direct. I am sure her style will be very unique.

I wish Emily this fantastic opportunity, it’s something she deserves and she’s been a great player about the postponement so yes I’m happy for ED. On a personal level, Brennan has been the only enjoyable part of the show, Cam and the squints have only had commercial like scenes, Booth, Hannah and Sweets have brought the show to dullsville. Yes, I’m happy for Emily but I’m dreading a show with little Bren time.
On the positive, we may see more of Cam, Angela and Hodgins and that’s all good.

Completely agre with Holly. ED has been one of the only bright spots in this season with her acting. It pains me to see them make her character look so clueless (but mostly sad).

Hopefully, she can direct an episode showing an intelligent and happy Brennan.

Eve, I’d love to say a happy, intelligent Brenan that is moaning over Booth. Please free Brennan from all the angst and looking through the window at Booth and Hannah.

MARISA, IS the hannah burley story arc/just as simple as casting mistakes and mishandled by everyone on bones/then why not admit the mistakes and try and get some of the fan-based back/even booth character deserves this.
