GOLDEN GLOBES 2011 Video: Ricky Gervais Roasts Charlie Sheen, Gay Scientologists

January 16, 2011 by

Charlie Sheen, some closeted gay Scientologists and the Depp/Jolie box office stinker, THE TOURIST.

All three were targets during Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue at The Golden Globes this evening.

Mean-spirited, as Robert Downey Jr. contended? Or damn hilarious?

Love Ricky Gervais, but I was squirming through his bits tonight. I think he crossed over to mean-spirited a number of times. I mean, when even Tom Hanks says something about your jokes…

Still love him, but I hope he chills a bit before his next hosting gig.

The thinly veiled Tom Cruise joke was hilarious and, shamefully, I laughed way too loudly for the Lost one!!

I thought he was hysterically funny; and seeing the presenters facial expressions as they came on stage, immediately after getting zinged was priceless. Opening Monologue’s best line was “I warned them”…i.e. he warned the hwfp that he would not hold back this year, and damn – did he prove it !

Robert Downey Jr.’s list of porn titled moves was also awesome.

Sign him up for next year. 🙂

I love that idea…Robert Downey Jr would be hilarious as a host. Loved Ricky but yeah those poor babies can’t take his humor.

Ricky Gervais is absolutely brilliant. It was hilarious to watch the crowd in front squirm as they tried not to laugh. This man is funny. Sign him up every year.
