GOSSIP GIRL Producers Tease the Chuck-Blair-Dan Triangle

On GOSSIP GIRL, the kids swap romantic partners all the time. But recent episodes seem to indicate there is a new pairing on the horizon, one the series hasn’t really explored thus far. So with the recent hints that Blair and Dan might not totally hate each other, could the duo be heading towards — gasp! — romance? And what does that mean for tortured former lovers Chuck and Blair?
Give Me My Remote went to GOSSIP GIRL executive producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Safran to get the romance scoop straight from them…
Dan and Blair have been spending more time together lately. Is that a relationship that the writers are interested in pursuing?
Stephanie Savage: It’s definitely a relationship. What kind of relationship it is, [that’s] a little bit of a wait-and-see. I think that Dan and Blair have a lot in common with each other: they’re the most book-smart characters, they share a lot of the same interests. And they’ve had a series of really nice moments of emotional vulnerability with each other over the years. Does that amount to a romantic connection? Or do the things that they dislike about each other — which are plentiful — will those ultimately stand in the way of any other deeper connection?
Dan and Blair remind me a little bit of Ryan and Summer from THE OC. We knew Seth and Summer were supposed to be together, but Ryan and Summer did have their own unique chemistry.
SS: That’s an interesting comparison.
Josh Safran: I think that any pairing, [whether it’s] friendship or relationship or whatever…obviously on our show, everybody has an opinion. Dan and Blair, whatever it is they have, you can be sure that it will land on everybody’s radar or people won’t know at all if it’s nothing. Wherever they go, they’re bound to bump into people. Metaphorically, wherever they go, not literally.
Well, they might literally bump into people, too. People seem to always get caught at the worst time on GOSSIP GIRL.
SS: That is very true, especially on our show.
Are there any big Chuck/Blair moments coming up that you can tease for their fans?
SS: I think they’re very much friends. They agreed to take a little time away so they could each work on themselves and hopefully come together at some point a little more evolved and ready to be in a long-term relationship. But they’re very much friends and we have a couple of episodes, one in particular, where they work very closely together. They realize each one is the only person who can help them with the thing that they need, so they work together to help each other out.
And which episode is that?
SS: Episode 14, called “Panic Roommate.”
Fantastic. Jenny has been in and out of the show this season. Is there a plan to either have her be on full time or write her out completely?
SS: Taylor [Momsen (Jenny)] continues to be a part of the show and I think we’d rather not say when she’s showing up, because it seemed to be fun for the audience the first half of the season — when people weren’t sure when she was going to turn up or why. So I think we’ll do the same thing.

LOVING the chemistry between Dan and Blair, but I’d rather see them become stronger friends and leave the romance to Chuck & Blair and Dan & (whoever is worthy enough for Lonely Boy).
is there anyone that really cares anymore? it is so sad how much these 2 have ruined the show. And guess what viewers are noticing. they had under a 2mil rating last week with their amazing Dan/Blair chem episodes. Look at the ratings and that should tell you what team people are on.

That fact that the women believe C/B/D could become a viable love triangle is rather hilarious given the fact she is a producer.
Team Dan&Blair vs Team Chair isnt even a competition. It’s laughable, Chuck and Blair will knock the socks off any couples or none couple on this show fandom size wise and media wise.

Dear Lord, Team CHAIR all the way. DB can do whatever they want, but it’s always going to be CB at the end of the day.
It isnt even a debate. Dan will never be that guy for Blair. He cant even be that guy for Serena yet. He cant handle that world and Blair is the embodiment of the UES. It is always gonna go back to CB.
This crap in between is something Id rather end already, but what can you do.
Team DAir all the way. They are not Seth and Summer or Ryan and Summer. They are Pacey and Joey! No other recent show has the brought out the same dynamic. And possibly the same show upset. It’s about Soulmates vs. True Love. At this point, we’re not sure if it is TL just yet, but we know that ChAir already has their Inevitable moniker. For now, maybe True Friends/BFF for DAir, but for these 2 – they don’t do casual coupling. DAir is the possibility of a challenging, fun, healthy and hopeful romance with equal amounts comedy and angst. ChAir is all tragedy and Kiss Kiss Banditry (whoring your “true love”) so no support on that end at all. Blair forgiving Chuck is in character – it’s so season 1 Nate all over again. Ultimately, they will all be friends in the end anyway (Chuck and Blair need to realize they can be functional friends again) and Blair and Dan need to know that true love doesn’t always happen with who you’re meant to be – it just happens.

Dan never sold Blair for a hotel or tried to rape anybody. So I think I’ll go with Dan over Chuck for this one.
I know it doesn’t matter, because Stephanie Savage is in love with the Woobie Chuck, but I’ll enjoy the Dan/Blair interaction while it lasts,

They’re such a breath of fresh air. They’re funny. Penn & Leighton have great chemistry. Plus, underneath it all, they really do respect each other. I loved Blair not sabotaging Dan because she believed in their friendship and Dan realizing he was wrong about Blair, ultimately sacrificing his own internship to save hers. I love that Blair confided in Dan multiple times whenever something troubled her (even back in S1).
That being said, I know Chuck/Blair is most likely the endgame couple. I respect other people’s opinions but, personally, I do not see their relationship as a healthy one. Don’t get me wrong, Ed & Leighton have amazing chemistry and I used to like Chair. I just think that, with everything that’s happened between them, they’re not as interesting anymore. I don’t like the way Chuck treats Blair. Seems to me that just because Chair is endgame, Chuck can do whatever he wants, including making Blair miserable (the hotel storyline, etc.), and she’s always expected to take him back with open arms. That really baffles me. But, like I said, this is just my opinion and I know Chuck & Blair will end up together.

Dan and Blair! A relationship which has a future. They are both smart and it is not about sex, it could be an intellectual sex which can come really really hot.
And much better than with boring Vanessa. Chuck is just rich, but Dan ist smart. Really smart.
Chuck and Blair has longtime become sour and it is not a real relationship. I think Serena and Chuck would be a much better fit.
Dair?! => how disgusting! I’m team Chair all the way! Even if they need some time appart (because I also think that Chuck went too far and need to prove Blair that she can trust him), I really hoped someone different than Dan for Blair.
Of all the guys Blair could have, why does it have to be Dan!? There are no word strong enough to say how disappointed I am by the writers. I was hoping for someone who has the charisma of a Carter Baizen to threat Chuck, make him jealous, fight for Blair, and realise the mistakes he has made.
But what do we have instead? A sick, gross, uninteresting, untasty, unchallenging, unthrilling Dair relationship!? Dan Humphfrey, the most boring character of the show as a love interest for our devilish Blair? It’s going to turn into a green twig and a soggy match relationship. Blair and Dan are good as enemies, not in a cat and mouse relationship. Dair has the same sex appeal as a relationship between Rufus and Cyrus!!
Since Dair is coming and we can’t do anything against it, I’m stoping whatching the show until some other interesting guy come for Blair. Dair makes me too sick to keep watching GG, even if there are apparently other good stories like with Eric’s one. Maybe I’m loosing something, but I’m much too disappointed and disgusted by the Dair plot to keep watching.

I love the Dan and Blair episodes but CHAIR has a different kind of magic! That magic that sweeps me off my feet, they make me fall in love!
I love Chair & I’d love if they revisit their relationship later on but right now I’m so keen for some Dair romance action, just not for the long term. they’ve got amazing chemistry which was subtle at first but has really been building up these past few episodes! Come on GG give us some Dair!!
Definitely Team Dair! Though they’re probably in for a bit of a Wharton-esque romance. Dan and Blair’s personalities compliment each other but are different enough to create some powerful sexual tension. Unfortunately, they’re miles apart in social status and their concept of true happiness. Too bad. They’d make a great couple…
I personally agree Loue, someone should go on GG, making Chuck jealous and fight for Blair. I believe Kyle Gallner would be a cute choice 😉
lol. Dair is kind of a stupid idea. It’s making the viewers annoyed and have you checked the ratings lately? I’ve read on other blog insights, so many people are not even watching this show because of Dair! And because of the lame story lines they’ve been doing. Why can’t Blair be with a completely different guy? Is that too much to ask?! It would be better to see her really liking someone else, really liking him but not too much for her to forget her love for Chuck. They keep bringing new girls for Chuck..so what about Blair? She needs a new guy!! Dan is Serena’s leftovers(no offense to lonely girl, Penn Badgley’s cute), but I think Dan should stick with Serena, that’s it.
Blair just needs someone else. Yes, they are good as friends, but not as lovers. I am not watching this show until Dair ends. How did Dair become a good idea in the first place?
I know Chuck has screwed up many times in the past, but he really cares for her and she feels the same. So, did this all happen because Dan is Serena’s ex/guy she’s never got over, and so they thought making Dair happen would cause big drama? FAIL. I dislike this very much 😐

He doesn’t. Last night’s episode (It-Girl Happened One Night) made that absolutely crystal clear.
ChuckandBlair is not a great love or a relationship for the ages. Chuck was Blair’s first love, so he’ll always be an important part of her life, but she needs to move on. He did terrible things to her both in and out of the relationship, including emotional abuse, emotional blackmail, and stalking, just to name a few. The music supervisor used Eminem/Rihanna’s domestic violence anthem over Chuck and Blair’s truce scene, FFS. It wasn’t subtle, or cute.
Moreover, while Blair’s hypothetically been pining for Chuck, he falls in love at the drop of a hat (first Eva and now Reina). Either his feelings for Blair weren’t particularly deep and special — and thus he can recreate them at will — or they WERE special and unique, and that’s why he was so uniquely horrible to her, in which case she should never go back.
i dont want blair to ever end up with chuck.. i actually want b to be with nate but as far as the story is going, i think it’s not gonna happen soon.. so i think i’m gonna go with dair.. i’m actually not a fan of anything that is connected to dan/ lonely boy.. but this season, i think i’m starting to like him. he actually brings out the best in blair.. and i actually like the way he’s treating blair.. so unlike chuck.. i used to love chuck, but after all the things that he had done to blair, i definitely changed my mind.. i was even disappointed when B forgave him. Blair deserves a whole lot better.. she deserves to be in a real relationship, a healthy one.. and i think dan can give her that, not chuck..and d and b have a lot in common..

In the real world people don’t get that many chances. You wouldn’t stay with a guy like Chuck, you only like him because you think he’s hot, but Dan and Blair have much more in common. I’d rather have Blair end up alone then with Chuck. (P.S. there have been hints of Dan and Blair since episode 4 in the first season. P.P.S. Serena falls in love with any and every guy that likes her so there no chance of her and Dan getting together. P.P.P.S. Blair has changed alot since her and Chuck were last together and Chuck [as they show when he got mad and punched through a piece of glass that fall and hit Blair in the face] is the same old Chuck.
In the real world people change. They move on from each other, or they grow closer together. That’s the way it is.
Chuck has tried to rape two people (in just the first episode) and has sex with anything with two legs.
Oh and in the book series Chuck is gay. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I’m team Chair all the way!!! Chuck and Blair have these different relationships through out the show, but they always find a way back to eachother, even if it’s just for one night. Chuck never looked at another girl the way he looks at Blair, not even Eva. He has some deep emotional issues so of course he’s going to be cold and cruel at times, but all in all, he loves her more than most guys on the show love their main women (Rufus&Lily, Dan&Serena, ect.) Dan and Blair make an entertaining couple, but only temporarily. She chose the prince over Dan and Chuck over the prince. Chuck was the one that made her stay with the prince because he thought it would be best for her. Chair has a very powerful love, they’ve had my eyes tearing up several times in all the seasons. I can’t even think of many romance movies with love as intense as theirs.
P.S. I hope the positive pregnancy is Chuck and Blair’s!!!

I think Blair would choose Chuck. he was always the love of her life, since the first season. you would not gossip girl blair and chuck? okay now she is living a beautiful moment with Dan, I think cool, but in the end, it really has to go back to the chuck. Chuck was always known as a bastard, but with Blair, he has matured a lot, she also, their love was strong they really love and deserve. Chair foreveer!
