FRINGE: J.J. Abrams Admits He’s ‘Terrified’ by the Friday Move but Promises Big Things Ahead

January 21, 2011 by

FRINGE fans, the day has finally arrived: our beloved series debuts in its brand new Friday time slot.

I think we can all admit we’re a little bit nervous, right?

Yes, executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman are really positive about the move. However, FRINGE co-creator (and TV mastermind) J.J. Abrams admitted he feels our pain and is “terrified” by the change of nights.

The good news about the move to Friday? Abrams says Fox has been “incredibly lenient” about the stories they’re letting the writers tell and there will be some crazy stuff coming up.

Awesome.

Check out the video below for some fun teases about what’s to come from Abrams…

If the Fringe audience keeps watching (like it seems they did last night), the move to Friday could end up being a gift: lowered expectations and more creative freedom!

The few comments posted here say it all, Ben. Few are watching (3.7 million the last episode) so this is pulling the ratings of the show it replaced on Friday, “The Good Guys.” Guess what? That show is canceled. This is the last season unless a miracle occurs. So either the writers end one of the universe’s by the end of the season, or they both will survive due to a force it cannot overcome called cancelation.
