BONES Debate: Should Booth and Brennan Get Together This Season?

April 28, 2011 by

BONES fans, we’re going to do something a little different today.

Tonight’s brand new episode, “The Pinocchio in the Planter,” has the Jeffersonian team diving into the world of radical honesty — and that inspired our fabulous BONES recapper Sarah Curtis and I to brave that world and debate our real feelings about the possibility of Booth and Brennan getting together this season. (If you’d like some teases on the actual episode, check out what Michaela Conlin told Give Me My Remote earlier this month.)

Before we start our debate, a few things of note to prevent panic/frustration. First of all, what we’re saying below has absolutely nothing to do with any spoilers for the rest of the season. This isn’t about what WILL happen, this is about what we WANT to happen. And for the purpose of this discussion, while Brennan and Booth ARE together in many ways, together equals the intention or actions of being in a romantic relationship. No more defending their relationship as just partners. There would need to be an acknowledgment that there is more than friendship between them and they are going to be acting on it in the immediate future. It doesn’t mean they need to jump into bed, but together = no more significant others, they are committed to each other in whatever way they deem appropriate given their unconventional courtship thus far.

All good? Let’s get to our debate…

I knew this day was coming, but now it’s here and I don’t know if I’m prepared.

Of course I’m talking about Steve Carell’s last episode of THE OFFICE this evening. Michael Scott can never be replaced, especially after seven years as Dunder Mifflin’s (somewhat) fearless leader. There’s just so much I’d love to say about bumbling Michael and Steve’s perfect portrayal of him and yet so little time.

I still can’t believe he’s leaving. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just be crying in a corner while y’all check out the rest of tonight’s packed TV lineup.

American Idol | 8pm on Fox
“1 of 6 Voted Off”
It’s that time of the week where one finalist will be eliminated from the competition. Tune in to see who faces the chopping block and is sent home after America’s vote is revealed live.

Community | 8pm on NBC
“Applied Anthropology and Culinary Arts”
When the Anthropology class assembles for their final exam, Shirley notices a twinge, which quickly escalates into full-blown labor. As Jeff and Britta argue about how best to help, Chang is anxious to claim this “early” labor as clear evidence that it’s a “Chang Baby!” Meanwhile, Greendale is hosting a World Food Festival in the parking lot and a riot ensues – Dean Pelton is caught in the crossfire.

The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Agreement Dissection”
Priya uses her legal expertise to rip apart Sheldon’s roommate agreement, and the women take the flustered Sheldon out dancing.

The Vampire Diaries | 8pm on The CW
“The Last Day”
Damon is willing to go to extraordinary lengths to prevent Elena from being a victim of Klaus’ (guest star Joseph Morgan) plan to break the curse. Damon’s actions put him at terrible odds with Stefan and the tension that started brewing between the brothers over their differing opinions of how to help save Elena’s life blows up into full-scale conflict. Tyler returns to Mystic Falls after receiving a disturbing phone call. With the full moon marking the arrival of the sacrifice ritual, Stefan and Elena spend a romantic day together — afraid it might be their last.

Rules of Engagement | 8:30pm on CBS
“The Jeff Photo”
When an old photo of Jeff appears in an art gallery, he decides it’s time to make some changes in his life. Meanwhile, Russell experiences a slump with women until he sees a familiar face.

AMERICAN IDOL Recap: Carole King Week

Hey, IDOL fans! How are things? You know, I saw Carole King and James Taylor on their Troubadour tour last year, and they both rocked as hard as I’ve ever seen anyone rock — Carole especially. And her “Tapestry” album is just ridiculously amazing. Seriously, she’s got the goods. If you take a look at the list of songs she’s written, you’ll be blown away — and half of them are hits she wrote for other artists.

But enough Carole gushing from me. The point is that, if you know what an icon Ms. King is, you may have been a little nervous to hear that AMERICAN IDOL was attempting to take her on. However, just as it was when they tackled The Beatles, judging each contestant was almost easier because the songs are so classic. If you can’t make a Carole King song sound good, it’s not likely you will last long on the Top 40 charts.

Now, with only six contestants left, we can take the time to weigh in on each one…

Don’t you just love cross-network promotion? On tonight’s episode of TOP CHEF: MASTERS, the cheftestants must cook meals for the contestants of THE BIGGEST LOSER and stick to under 1500 calories. Since Bravo is owned by NBC, of course this was going to happen sooner or later! But the chefs aren’t happy — they want to cook food people crave, not rabbit food! I’m anxious to see how this one turns out!

Oh, yeah, and in the Quickfire Challenge, the chefs must make a dish in 12 minutes using cheese as the main ingredient. Because that’s exactly what you need to be cooking with in an episode promoting healthy eating – lots and lots of cheese!

Watch some clips from tonight’s show below and let me know if you’ll be tuning in!

AMERICAN IDOL Castoff Pia Toscano Sings on DANCING WITH THE STARS

I’ll ask again…Why? How?

Pia Toscano left AMERICAN IDOL way too early this season, but thankfully she hasn’t really left the spotlight.  Last night she performed “I’ll Stand By You” during the DANCING WITH THE STARS results show.  Her rendition was breathtaking…as always.

THE VOICE: Javier Colon Sings ‘Time After Time’

Sure, we might only be one episode into THE VOICE, but I’m already invested in these contestants.

You all saw Javier Colon’s take on Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” right? If you haven’t, you must watch it now. His rendition of the song was so good it got every coach to turn their chair around, leaving the decision of whom he would work with in Javier’s hands.

GLEE Recap: ‘Born This Way’

April 26, 2011 by

Oh my Gaga! The overwhelmingly positive message of self-love. Tear-jerking musical numbers. Wemma progress. Finchel moments. Puckleberry moments. Kurt’s return. “Trouty Mouth” on a t-shirt. So much to love about this episode! My GLEE cup overfloweth. Thank you, Grilled Cheesus.

Things get kicked off with a bang – or should I say, a “whack” – as Finn hits Rachel in the face during a dance rehearsal. She is rushed to the hospital to get her schnoz checked out. Turns out it’s broken, and the douchey doctor pushes her to get a nose job. Rachel is not the sort to give in to vanities, but when she learns that it may improve her singing voice, how can she say no? Nobody else seems to think it’s a good idea, and neither do I, but I can’t blame her for soldiering on anyway. It’s not like they’ve been supportive of anything else she’s done. If there’s anyone who has a say it would be Finn, and he does. He pleads “Rachel, please don’t do this. You’re beautiful.” She clearly looks like she’s been gently stabbed in the heart with that comment (in a good way) but being the strong woman she is, reminds everyone that this is not a discussion and that she’s doing it anyway.

Who Went Home on DANCING WITH THE STARS?

Comments Off on Who Went Home on DANCING WITH THE STARS?

I’m not sure exactly why there was two hours of DANCING WITH THE STARS, but part of me thinks it was because ABC wanted to prove that they could still get ratings during both hours. Jamie Oliver would probably do better if he was a contestant on DWTS and he wouldn’t be the first chef on the show either.

While the elimination actually took place in the last five minutes as it always does, the first hour was spent doing an analysis of the current contestants and gave some extra musical acts to perform outside of the Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block second hour. Of course somehow Mark managed to get his “friend” Pia Toscano some time to perform as a big middle finger to AMERICAN IDOL.

THE VOICE: Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton Sing ‘Crazy’! Plus, Which Team is Your Favorite?

NBC’s new competition show, THE VOICE, kicked off its series premiere in high style: coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton rocked out to Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” (Green was part of Gnarls Barkley)

Miss it the first time around or want to rewatch it? Check out their rendition of “Crazy” below, plus vote for which coach has nabbed your favorite contestants so far! Are you Team Adam, Blake, Cee Lo or Christina? Personally, I’m digging the talent Adam and Blake have snagged so far, but I’m guessing some of you will be drawn to others…

THE VOICE: Why You Should Tune In Tonight, Plus a Preview of the Series Premiere

April 26, 2011 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Voice

NBC is premiering their new singing competition series tonight at 9 PM — and no, it’s not an AMERICAN IDOL clone.

First of all, there are no terrible auditions like the ones AI used to play up in the early weeks. On THE VOICE, we go straight to the best of the best as the singers perform “blind” for the coaches — who cannot see them, only hear — in the hopes of landing one of the eight spots each pro has for their team. Despite the talent, not everyone will make it through, and there is at least one contestant whom the judges immediately regret not picking after being able to see who was singing.

There are some incredibly talented hopefuls whom the viewers will be introduced to in the series premiere — and, of course, there are a few who might make you go “WTF?” (Note to all future reality contestants: crying because you’re too pretty probably won’t make you all that appealing to the audience.)

ONE TREE HILL’s James Lafferty on Nathan’s Mission, Leaving the Show and What’s Next

Filed under #1 featured, One Tree Hill

As season eight of ONE TREE HILL barrels toward its finale next month, a few things are up in the air. Like, you know, whether or not the show will come back in the fall.

But before we get there, we’ll see the kids of Tree Hill tying up a storyline or two. GIVE ME MY REMOTE spoke with James Lafferty about what’s going on with his character, Nathan, now that Haley’s given birth to their new baby.

Lafferty also shared his thoughts on whether he’ll return if ONE TREE HILL does get another season and what’s next for him…

So, what’s up with Nathan this week?
JAMES LAFFERTY: Nathan is going to switch gears a little bit, from being a proud new father to being somewhat of a detective, trying to figure out what role Professor Kellerman played in the car crash that happened a few episodes back. You know, Nathan sees a car that matches the description of the car that ran into Lauren on the bridge. So, he has to figure out what happened and, when he does find out, how to deal with it.
