BONES: Is the Season Finale Game-Changing? Stephen Nathan Weighs in

May 19, 2011 by

Fans have been buzzing about what could potentially be going down in the BONES season finale since the episode title was revealed to be “The Change in the Game.” Yes, the murder investigation involves bowling, but surely the show wouldn’t waste a title so significant on something that was solely case-related, right?

Does the title perhaps pertain to the longstanding will-they-won’t-they tension changing between Booth and Brennan? I asked BONES creator Hart Hanson last month whether there was any concern about hyping up the fans for a potential change in the dynamic if they weren’t prepared to actually get Booth and Brennan together this season, but he laughed and replied, “Oh, I wouldn’t answer that in a million years, Marisa.”

So I tried another approach. I went to BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan to get his take on whether the hour was a legitimate game changer for the series and thankfully he was a bit more willing to talk…

It was a game changer alright, it turned me into an ex Bones fan. Bones is pregnant and she has to tell Booth he’s the father, WT?
We got nothing all season, zip, zelch from B&B showing them to be more than business partners to she’s stuck with a baby.

Yeah, not gonna lie, that was horrible, especially because it was unclear on whether or not they had sex in the first place, however I will continue to watch but I just wish they would have planned that alittle better. I know Emily pregnancy came out of left field but I’m sure there were other ways to work around that then saying its Booths. I just hope this doesn’t end up like many other unfortunate shows were the viewers start to lose interest because the two stars finally got together. Hope they make an excellent 7th season to keep their viewers on the edge of their seat.

Not the best finale but I’m actually pleased that we’ll get to see the complications and issues this pregnancy raises. Maybe she felt she needed to tell him he was the father because she’s not that far gone and she could have been with someone else (not that she would as she does love Booth)? I’ve had a friend who had to have DNA testing for that reason just to make sure.
Roll on a better season 7!! Keep us all interested!

I have no doubt that the writers are up to the challenge of keeping the show as fresh and interesting as it’s always been. If the Fanfiction authors can write the terrific stories they have with B and B married, raising a family and working together – the pros certainly can. And, now with Booth and Bones on the same page emotionally, a whole new direction has opened up for them to go in. I LOVED IT! Can’t wait ’til September.

IF,you don’t care what fans think/then fold your tent and stayed home/bowling finale was not a good episode. but if booth has moved in and took over then why do a s7?

what we watch between booth and hannah everyone call it CRAP,NOW WE KNOW we should of call it PORNO,THANKS for finally putting a name to crap. you lucky to have a s7 after hannah and porno, now you don’t give a damn what fans think about any of it,why bother with a s7?

What crap! I’ve been a fan. But I’m also a bowler, and I was insulted they couldn’t bother to make the bowling info realistic. For me it ruined the show.
No One, not even professionals carry a 282 average. Even if someone could mess with the pin mechanism(which they could not) to move the pins slightly, it wouldn’t help much to pick up splits. Also, childrens bowling balls do not weigh 5 lbs, they weigh 6-8 lbs. Forget the bad info; WHY the $%&# would the bowling center proprieter put HIS murder victum in the pin setters?? Makes NO Sense at all!! Bones pregnant by Booth!? She turns from a sientific genius to a high school moron out who doesn’t bother with contreception!?
