THE BACHELORETTE: Ashley Meets the Families, Bores Us All

July 19, 2011 by

On Monday’s episode of THE BACHELORETTE, Ashley traveled with the four remaining men to their hometowns to meet their families.

Was anyone else a little bit, um, bored by the episode? Nothing seemed too crazy…there weren’t any funeral home tours or stuffed dead animals. Rather tame home visits with fairly sane people.

In fact, the most interesting part of the two hours were things that didn’t air in the actual episode. The new BACHELOR PAD promo, featuring bitter exes, Jake and Vienna, was deliciously trashy. It’s slightly worrisome that he wants her to fall 3,000 feet to her death given how angry he got during their breakup interview, but it’s clear the drama is going to be intense with them. Are we placing bets now on whether he and Kasey (Vienna’s current boyfriend) get into fights at the house?

Also, the promos for the rest of this season of THE BACHELORETTE seemed to indicate things won’t go so well with J.P. While Ben and Constantine are still practically the same person to me, Ashley’s connection with J.P. has appeared to be rock solid for weeks. So what the heck does he do to cause such a rift? Which person unexpectedly shows up at Ashley’s door? And which guy rubs her family the wrong way?

Those things interest me. Ashley’s dates — while adorable — not so much. Ames went home, a fact that appeared to leave him shocked. But, really, any guy aside from J.P. wouldn’t shock me at this point. Let’s hope next week is more interesting.

What did you guys think of Monday’s episode of THE BACHELORETTE?
